Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mayatat Shrine Location and Walkthrough Guide

Guides

Hidden deep within the lush canyons of the East Necluda region, the Mayatat Shrine challenges players with a clever puzzle that bends gravity and precision timing. This guide breaks down the location, the puzzle’s key mechanics, and the steps needed to claim its reward without missing a secret along the way.

When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.

Mayatat Shrine location

Mayatat Shrine is found in the Gerudo Desert region, southeast of Gerudo Town and near the Sand-Seal Rally area. The coordinates are roughly (-3295, -2506, 0023). The easiest way to reach it is by gliding from the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower to avoid getting lost in the desert heat. Watch for sandstorms that can obscure visibility, and use heat-resistant gear or elixirs during the day.

Mayatat Shrine is located just east of the West Gerudo Ruins, on the northern border of the Gerudo Canyon region. Its exact location is (-3292, -2509, 0024).

Mayatat Shrine walkthrough

The Mayatat Shrine challenges you with puzzles centered around manipulating metal objects and water levels to reach the final chest and Light of Blessing. Use your Ultrahand ability to place metal platforms strategically for crossing gaps and raising water to access higher ledges. Keep an eye out for hidden chests along the upper areas before activating the shrine’s exit point.

The Mayatat Shrine mostly tasks you with using Ultrahand and Recall to ride various machines across a chamber full of quicksand.

1. In the first room, cross the sand to the ledge on the far side – the one with a single sled perched on it.

2. While standing on the sled, cast Recall on it, then ride it all the way up to the upper level. Head into the room on your left.

3. In here, if you walk on the sand, you get pushed back to the platform at the entrance of the room. Instead, you’ll need to use Ultrahand to fabricate some transportation. To your right, you’ll see a sled with a steering stick. Ahead, you’ll see two fans. Use Ultrahand to combine one of the fans with the sled, creating a makeshift pontoon. (If you can’t reach either fan, jumping to the platform closest to you can extend your reach.)

4. Use Ultrahand to place the pontoon in the sand, then hop on it. Pilot it left, and then take it right. On your right, you should see a platform with a set of stairs. Park the boat (you can ditch it). At the top of the stairs, you’ll find the Mayatat Shrine’s chest, which contains 10 arrows.

5. Glide across the chasm behind the chest to another platform containing a fan, a sled, and a steering stick. Use Ultrahand to assemble these into a second pontoon.

How to get cooling gear for Gerudo Desert

Cooling gear is essential for surviving the daytime heat in the Gerudo Desert, especially near Mayatat Shrine. The Desert Voe armor set provides heat resistance and is the best option for full protection.

Desert Voe Headband

Buy this starter piece for 450 rupees from Saula at her armor shop tent in Kara Kara Bazaar, southwest of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower (coords: -3273, -2549, 0023). It grants basic heat resistance to begin exploring.

Desert Voe Spaulder and Trousers

Travel to Gerudo Town and sneak into the Gerudo Secret Club (behind Fashion Passion shop) at night by waiting until 10 PM or using the side entrance after talking to the guards. Purchase the Spaulder for 1300 rupees and Trousers for 650 rupees (coords: -3794, -2923, 0044).

Tips

Clear the sandstorm in Gerudo Town first by completing the nearby Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower or related quests if needed. One piece works for basic heat, but the full set (upgradable at Great Fairies) eliminates scorching damage entirely.

How to sneak into Gerudo Secret Club as male Link

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, male Link sneaks into the Gerudo Secret Club in Gerudo Town by using the Ascend ability through an underground tunnel, bypassing the front door entirely-no password or disguise required, unlike Breath of the Wild.

Step-by-Step Access

Head to the well near the Sand Seal Rental Canteen on Gerudo Town’s east side (coords: -3789, -2905, 0043). Jump down the waterfall drain into the cave below.

Go northwest through a small hole in the left wall (crouch if needed), then smash any breakable rock walls ahead until you reach stone pillars in the middle of the path (coords: -3791, -2919, 0032).

Stand directly under the club’s floor between the pillars and use Ascend to phase up through the ceiling into the shop. Speak to the shopkeeper (whose back is injured, explaining the blocked door).

After Entry

Smash the wooden crate blocking the southeast hallway door for front-door access anytime after. Buy Desert Voe Spaulder (1300 rupees) and Trousers (650 rupees) here for full heat resistance.
