Rare upgrade gems like Lizard Blooms, Silken Thread, and Simian Yin Organs can make or break your next Wrack Blade: Rhododendron build. Here’s where to find each one before your next hunt leaves you short on materials.
You’ll need materials like Lizard Blooms, Silken Thread, and Simian Yin Organ Gems as you upgrade your weapons and armor to continue into chapter two. Our Wild Hearts Lizard Bloom, Silken Thread, and Simian Yin Organ Gems guide will tell you how and where to find them.
Why you’ll need Lizard Blooms, Silken Thread, and Simian Yin Organ Gems in Wild Hearts
Lizard Blooms, Silken Thread, and Simian Yin Organ Gems are key upgrade materials for enhancing weapons and armor linked to the Wrack Blade: Rhododendron in Wild Hearts. Each resource contributes to boosting stats such as attack power, defense, or elemental resistance, allowing players to refine builds that match their combat style. Collecting these materials also supports crafting specialized gear needed for tougher Kemono encounters, making them highly sought after for mid- to late-game progression.
You’ll open up the Wrack Blade: Rhododendron weapon upgrade path once you defeat your first Lavaback. The path adds some fire damage to your attacks, which is great against icy opponents like the Deathstalker. The upgrade to the Wrack Black: Rhododendron 2 (that adds the stamina-increasing Grab Master skill) requires three Simian Yin Organ Gems.
A bit after that, the next few armors you unlock require Simian Yin Organ Gems, Silken Thread, and Lizard Blooms in varying amounts. These armors include the Long Reed set, Veteran set (arguably the most versatile early-game armor), and the All-Black set.
Where to find Silken Thread and Simian Yin Organ Gems in Wild Hearts
Silken Thread grows as white, web-like plants on the ground throughout Akikure Canyon, accessible in chapter two’s second half after progressing past initial Kemono hunts. Harvest them directly by interacting while exploring the main paths and campsites in this fall-colored region. Simian Yin Organ Gems drop from defeating Gemcast Monkeys, small Kemono found in the snowy Fuyufusagi Fort during the same chapter stage.
The crafting and upgrade materials vary by region. Some crafting materials, like Mirrorstone and Lightstone, can be collected just by exploring the new regions you unlock. Other materials, like Crustaceous Moss or Pointed Scales, come from either killing or petting small Kemono – and the small Kemono you encounter vary by region, too.

You’ll get Lizard Blooms from both Springwatch and Nightshade Monitors. You’ll find Springwatch Monitors in Harugasumi Way, the first area you explore. Nightshade Monitors show up in chapter two, “Ancient Technology,” in Akikure Canyon. Both will drop Lizard Blooms every time you pet them and some of the times you kill them.
However, both of these Monitors release a cloud of poison when you (try to) pet them. If you try to pet them without some kind of Poison Resistance skill, your attempt will fail. You can get the Antitoxin Skill by eating Akebia Fruit found in Akikure Canyon or from the Fresh Fern Sone-ate (boots) armor.
You’ll find Silken Tread as a normal material to pick up as you explore Akikure Canyon in the first half of chapter two. They look vaguely like light gray piles of rock.
In the second half of chapter two, you’ll reach the snowy Fuyufusagi Fort and find Gemcast Monkey small Kemono there. They’ll drop Simian Yin Organ Gemswhen you slay (murder) them, and Monkey Liquor when you pet them.
How to farm Gemcast Monkeys efficiently in Fuyufusagi Fort
Gemcast Monkeys in Wild Hearts drop Simian Yin Organ Gems when defeated (petting gives Monkey Liquor instead), and efficient farming focuses on Fuyufusagi Fort during Chapter 2 before they evolve into Invasive variants in later chapters.
Preparation
Stay in Chapter 2 via the menu selection to ensure regular Gemcast Monkeys spawn (Chapter 3+ shifts drops to Simian Yang Organ Gems).
Activate the Small Kemono Filter on your map (bottom left, cycle with arrows) to reveal icons; hover to confirm “Gemcast Monkey” names.
Farming Route
They cluster in central and lower snowy areas of Fuyufusagi Fort-scout high-traffic spots near camps or paths for groups of 3-5.
Use fast weapons like Karakuri Katana for quick kills; one-shots work well as they’re fragile. Kill, collect, fast-travel to camp, and repeat to respawn.
Efficiency Tips
Set up multiple camps across the map (e.g., via Tsukumo shrines) for quick resets between spawns.
Farm in 10-15 minute loops: 20-30 monkeys per run yields 20+ gems; repeat 3-4 times for full armor/weapon upgrades.
What weapons or armor use Simian Yin Organ Gems
Simian Yin Organ Gems in Wild Hearts are used for early-game weapon upgrades and armor crafting, particularly in Chapter 2.
Weapons
These gems are required for the Wrack Blade: Rhododendron upgrade path, specifically Wrack: Rhododendron +2, which adds fire damage and the Grab Master skill (needing 3 gems).
Armor
They feature in several versatile early sets, including the Veteran set (a top early-game option), All-Black set, and Long Reed set, often combined with Lizard Blooms and Silken Threads.
