Pokémon Scarlet Violet EXP Farming Guide Fast Level Up Methods Locations

Guides

Tired of grinding levels the slow way? With the right setup, you can turn your team into EXP magnets in minutes. Here’s how players are racking up experience fast in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet using a few clever methods the game quietly rewards.

Below we list a few EXP farming methods that we used. There may be more in the game, but we found reliable success with the ones below.

Chansey hunting

Chansey appears in large groups on routes near Levincia and Alfornada, especially at night. Bring a Pokémon with False Swipe to weaken them without knocking them out, then toss Ultra Balls or Quick Balls for captures. Each Chansey yields massive EXP upon defeat or capture, and their nests respawn after you fly away and return. Pair this with EXP Candies from Tera Raids for rapid gains.

Head to the northern part of Paldea, near the Fairy Team Star base and eat a sandwich that has normal encounter power. (We used regular ol’ Ham Sandwiches, #80.)

This type of sandwich will cause tons of Chansey to spawn in the region; the entire flower field will just become flush with Chansey. Battle these Chansey and reap in thousands of EXP per fight. (If you’re lucky, a Blissey or two might show up, which reward even more EXP.) Give a specific Pokémon a Lucky Egg for even more EXP.

Note that auto-battling the Chansey does not give nearly as much EXP, so you’ll want to actually battle them.

Tera Raids

Tera Raids are one of the fastest ways to earn large amounts of EXP and valuable items. Joining high-level raids featuring powerful Pokémon rewards players with Exp. Candies, Rare Candies, and valuable loot that can be sold for cash. Coordinating with other players increases success rates, especially against five- and six-star opponents. Focusing on raids with Pokémon weak to your team’s moves helps clear them faster, letting you build a strong, high-level party in less time.

Taking on Tera Raid battles reward lots of EXP Candy, with harder raids dropping bigger candy sizes. Just from joining random online raids, we were able to amass a ton of candy to quickly level up our Pokémon.

However, this isn’t a foolproof plan. If you don’t have a team of strong Pokémon that utilize type advantages and the like, you won’t stand a chance in five- and six-star raids. (First rule of raiding: Don’t expect your other online team members to carry you to victory.)

Stick to the lower-leveled raids if you’re struggling in the higher-leveled raids and use the winnings from those raids to power up your Pokémon until they’re strong enough to participate in the higher-tier ones.

Raiding will also give valuable items to sell or use, like mints, Bottle Caps, and (if you’re lucky) Herba Mystica, making them one of the best ways to amass both money and powerful Pokémon.

The Academy Ace Tournament

The Academy Ace Tournament is one of the best late-game activities for gaining large amounts of EXP. After completing the main story and all gym rematches, players can access this event at the school’s reception desk. Each battle features high-level opponents with balanced teams that provide significant EXP when defeated. Because it can be repeated as many times as desired, the tournament is a reliable method to train both new captures and your main team to level 100 without relying heavily on items.

This is just a repeat of the good ol’ Elite Four trick from older games, where you’d repeatedly grind against the Elite Four to amass a ton of EXP. (You can’t do this in Scarlet and Violet.) Give whatever Pokémon you are focusing on leveling the Lucky Egg, and take down the Academy Ace Tournament.

This will also net you some money, but honestly, the other methods above are better for EXP farming.

This method can be more mindless, as if you have one or two strong Pokémon that can sweep the entire tournament, you can tune out and just spam the A button while you watch a show or something to get that sweet EXP.

Best sandwich recipes for Chansey farming

The Ham Sandwich is the best basic recipe for Chansey farming. It provides Encounter Power: Normal Lv. 1, boosting Normal-type spawns like Chansey near the Fairy Team Star base in North Province.

Recipe Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients Meal Powers
Ham Sandwich (#80) 1 Ham, 1 Pickle, 1 Mayonnaise, 1 Mustard Teensy: Fighting Lv. 1, Encounter: Normal Lv. 1, Raid: Ground Lv. 1

Buy ingredients at Sure-Cans or Artisan Bakery in Mesagoza or Levincia. Set up a picnic, make the sandwich (exact layers to avoid raw results), and eat it before hunting in the flower field south of the base for level 45-48 Chansey.

Advanced Normal Encounter Sandwich

For Lv. 2 power (more Chansey spawns), use Tofu x1 (or x4), Salty Herba Mystica x1, Sour Herba Mystica x1 in Creative Mode (press X). Herba Mystica comes from 5-6 star Tera Raids. This outperforms basic recipes for density but requires endgame items.

Best Chansey spawn locations for high EXP yield

North Province (Area One and Two), near the Fairy Team Star base, is the best Chansey spawn location for high EXP yield. This northern Paldea flower field spawns level 45-50 Chansey consistently after eating a Normal Encounter Power sandwich like Ham Sandwich (#80), yielding 2,000-3,000 EXP per catch or faint (more with Lucky Egg).

Top Locations

Location Chansey Level Notes
North Province (Area One/Two), Fairy base flower field 45-50 Highest density with sandwich; occasional Blissey for 4,000+ EXP
North Province (Area Three) 50-55 Shiny hunting spot; roam to respawn via picnic reset
Zero Gate cave (Area Zero, late-game) 55+ Hidden path inside cave; run circles to respawn
East Paldea tip, east of Fury Falls 50+ Strongest wild Chansey; requires climbing ability

Fight manually (not auto-battle) to maximize EXP, as Chansey runs if spotted-sneak up or use sandwich for mass spawns. Blissey (North Province only) doubles rewards but spawns rarely.
