Ancient Prison Ruins walkthrough
The Ancient Prison Ruins challenge in the Chichim Shrine combines combat and puzzle-solving inside a dim underground structure. Use torches or brightbloom seeds to see through the darkness as you move between crumbling stone cells. Activate switches to open barred doors, defeat the Construct Guard in the main chamber, and use Zonai devices to reach higher levels. Collect hidden treasure chests before interacting with the shrine’s crystal to complete the trial.
Once in the ruins, you need to make your way past some monsters and solve a few puzzles to reach Chichim Shrine and claim your Rauru’s Blessing.
1. Head straight down the corridor in front of you, and use Ultrahand to flip the giant lever at the end to open the gate.
2. Head left, dealing with any Gibdos that you meet on your way. Fire-based attacks, such as a fire fruit attached to an arrow, make short work of these. Follow the corridor ’round to the right and note the statue pointing right with its sword. Take the hint, and turn right under the half-open gate.

3. Ignore the lever ahead of you, and drop down through the broken floor to the right of the lever. Crouch down to crawl through the low opening in the wall to your right.
4. Follow the corridor to the left and then right, dealing with the Gibdo and the Electric Chuchu in the chamber around the corner. In the far corner of the chamber, climb up the pile of rubble to get back to the floor above.
5. The floor will immediately collapse below you, but don’t worry; you want to be down here. Where you’ve fallen down you’ll find a Bubbulfrog – knock it out to grab its Bubbul Gem. There’s also another statue pointing the way to the shrine; follow its advice.

6. At the end of the corridor, you can see the shrine behind a gate. Use Ascend to reach the chamber above, and open the chest to get a Gerudo scimitar.
7. Behind the chest are a couple of stone slabs on the floor. Use Ultrahand to move these out of the way and reveal a lever embedded in the floor. Use Ultrahand again to flip the lever. which opens a secret door through to the shrine.
How to reach the Ancient Prison Ruins quicksand whirlpool coordinates
The quicksand whirlpool entrance to the Ancient Prison Ruins lies in the Palu Wasteland of the Gerudo Desert at approximately -3100, -3063, 0008.
Starting Point
Head south from Kara Kara Bazaar or southwest from Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower into the Palu Wasteland, east of Gerudo Town. The area features extreme heat, so equip heat-resistant gear like the Desert Voe set or use chill elixirs.
Navigation Tips
Look for the swirling sand pit amid the sandstorm-it’s distinct from the nearby Quicksand Lake Cave (further north). Glide or paraglide down precisely into the whirlpool center to sink safely into the ruins without taking fall damage. Coordinates may vary slightly by a few units (-3090 to -3106, -3055 to -3063, 0008-0100), but the bullseye-like spot south of Palu Wasteland marks it on the map.
Best gear and heat resistance for Gerudo Desert approach

Acquiring the Gear
Purchase the Desert Voe Headband for 450 Rupees from Saula at Kara Kara Bazaar (-3273, -2551, 0023). Obtain Desert Voe Spaulder (1300 Rupees) and Trousers (650 Rupees) from Gerudo Secret Club in Gerudo Town by navigating sewers, breaking walls, and using Ascend (-3796, -2924, 0032).
Resistance Levels
Each piece grants one level of heat resistance; full set offers complete daytime protection without consumables. Upgrade at Great Fairies for extra defense, and pair with Sand Boots from the same shop for better mobility.
Alternatives
Cook elixirs with Chillshrooms, Hydromelons, or Chillfin Trout for temporary resistance, or equip ice weapons to cool down. Avoid Flamebreaker gear, as it only resists fire, not desert heat.
