After crafting your perfect hero in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you might find yourself craving a fresh look as you delve deeper into its sprawling world. Luckily, the game lets you reshape your Arisen and Main Pawn’s appearance-not just at the start, but anytime you reach the bustling settlement of Vernworth. Whether it’s a simple haircut or a full makeover, discover how to transform your character’s visage and keep your adventure as unique as you are.
Our Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide will explain how to change your appearance after character creation and the limitations of doing so.
Visit a barbarie for a haircut
To change your hairstyle in Dragon’s Dogma 2, visit a Barberie located in major cities such as Vernworth or Bakbttahl, marked by a scissors icon on the map. At the Barberie, speak with the barber to access various customization options including hairstyle, makeup, and markings. A single haircut costs 10,000 gold, while changing multiple aspects costs 25,000 gold. You can also modify your Main Pawn’s appearance using the same service and price. This is your best option to refresh your character’s look after the initial creation, though it comes at a significant in-game cost.

In the capital city of Vernworth, you’ll find a shop on the west side called Clovis’s Barberie – it’s even got a barber pole-style sign out front, and is indicated on the map by a scissors icon.
At the barberie, you can change your hairstyle (and facial hair), makeup, and markings (tattoos and scars) for 10,000 gold each. There’s also a bundle for 25,000 gold that lets you change all three.
You’ll also see an option to modify appearance, but it’s grayed out. That’s because you’ll need a special item for that.
Buy an ’Art of Metamorphosis’ tome
To buy an Art of Metamorphosis tome in Dragon’s Dogma 2, visit the Pawn Guild vendor located in major cities like Vernworth. This vendor sells the Art of Metamorphosis for 500 Rift Crystals (RC), which can be earned through gameplay activities such as activating Riftstones, lending your pawn to other players, or defeating certain enemies. Once purchased, use the tome at a barberie to fully customize your character’s or main pawn’s appearance, including body type, measurements, and facial features-changes that go beyond simple hairstyle or makeup adjustments. Keep in mind that each Art of Metamorphosis is single-use, so use it wisely.

At the Pawn Guild in Vernworth, the attendant has a shop where you can buy incenses to change your main pawn’s inclination and voice. They also sell a book called the “Art of Metamorphosis” for 500 Rift Crystals (RC), though stock is limited to two total. (As of this writing, we haven’t found an addition location that sells the tome or figured out how it comes back in stock, but will update this guide when we do.)
You’ll earn RC by finding them in chests, restoring forgotten riftstones, and as rewards when you set pawn quests for your main pawn.
If you buy one you can change either your Arisen’s or your main pawn’s appearance – you’ll need to buy both books to change both appearances. To do so, take your “Art(s) of Metamorphosis” to the barberie, and the modify appearance option will be available.
Using it lets you jump back into the character creator, but not exactly from scratch. You cannot change between human and beastren. That’s the only limitation, though. Everything else is available to tweak – you can start with an entirely new appearance or switch gender presentation. You can even use this to increase your overall body weight and size to increase your inventory size.
That price of 500 RC is a bit steep early on in the game, and the limited inventory means you’re not going to want to (or even be able to) change your appearance on a whim.
How can I transform my look after the initial character creation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
To transform your look after the initial character creation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to progress through the main story until you reach the first major settlement, Vernworth. There, visit Clovis’s Barberie, marked by a scissors icon on the map, where you can change your hairstyle, makeup, or markings for 10,000 gold each, or opt for a full makeover for 25,000 gold.
For more extensive changes like body type, height, or muscularity, you must acquire the single-use item called the Art of Metamorphosis, purchasable from Pawn Guild vendors in major cities for 500 Rift Crystals (RC). These crystals are earned through in-game activities such as activating Riftstones or lending out your main pawn to other players. Using this item at the barber shop lets you completely redesign your character or main pawn, similar to the initial character creation.
Note that race cannot be changed, and the cosmetic changes at the barberie are limited to superficial features unless you use the Art of Metamorphosis.
What’s the fastest way to get enough gold for a full character makeover
The fastest way to get enough gold for a full character makeover in Dragon’s Dogma 2 involves a combination of efficient farming and selling valuable items. One of the most effective methods is farming Onyx gemstones, which sell for 2,400 gold each in Vernworth. To do this, stock up on tarring and exploding arrows, then use them along with a main Rift Stone to complete Pawn Quests that reward Onyx. Hiring pawns with these quests, giving them the requested arrows, and then dismissing them repeatedly can quickly net large sums of gold. Restocking arrows and repeating this cycle accelerates gold gain significantly.
Additionally, farming humanoid enemies like goblins, hobgoblins, and bandits is profitable since they drop gold and valuable items such as gold and silver teeth, which can be sold for hundreds of gold each. Exploring mines in the first region (Trel Mine, Der Mine, River Edge Grotto) to farm ore nodes and selling the gathered ore also provides a steady income. Resting or sleeping resets these nodes for repeated farming.
Selling spare armor, excess inventory, and low- to mid-rarity monster parts is another reliable gold source. Looting scrap piles and chests scattered throughout the world can also yield gold and valuable items.
Combining these methods-Onyx farming via Pawn Quests, enemy farming, mining, and selling excess items-will quickly accumulate the 25,000 gold required for a full makeover at Clovis’s Barberie in Vernworth.
