Dragon s Dogma 2 Oxcart Courier Quest Walkthrough Vernworth Side Quest and Lennart Location

Guides

A simple delivery turns into a perilous journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2’s “Oxcart Courier” quest. Tasked with delivering a letter to the remote village of Melve, you’ll board a humble oxcart-only to discover that the roads are anything but safe. Ambushes, monsters, and even a dragon attack may await, transforming a routine errand into a test of your survival skills and combat prowess. Will you make it to Ser Lennart with the message intact, or will the dangers of Gransys claim another courier?

Melve, you’ll recall, is the first proper settlement you encounter after the Borderwatch Outpost, so you need to make your way back there, letter in hand. However, Ser Lennart seems to be a rather elusive man. Also, “Oxcart Courier” is a timed quest, meaning you can fail it if you don’t find Lennart quickly enough.

In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide, we’ll show you where to find Lennart in Melve and how to complete “Oxcart Courier.”

Where to find Lennart in Melve for the ’Oxcart Courier’ quest

When you arrive in Melve for the “Oxcart Courier” quest, Lennart can typically be found wandering around the village, most often near the well in the destroyed portion of town or close to Ulrika’s house in the upper half of the village. He stands out with his fur armor, cape, sword, shield, and distinctive white hair and mustache. If you don’t see him immediately, check around the large building toward the back of the town, or look for him by a fire to the right side of that building. Occasionally, Lennart may also be found at the ruined archway in the northwest of Melve, at the inn, or inside his house next to the inn. If he’s still missing, try resting at a bench outside the inn and returning after each rest, or cause a commotion in the village to prompt him to appear. If Lennart is not in Melve at all, it’s possible he may have died during your playthrough; in this case, you can revive him at the Vermund Charnel House using a Wakestone and then return to Melve to complete the quest.

Lennart can be found in a few different locations in Melve. When I returned to deliver the letter, Melve was under attack by a dragon. After dealing with that, Lennart was situated under the archway by the entrance to the town, in the section where most of the houses have been destroyed:

However, Lennart may be elsewhere depending on when you arrive.

  • He may be standing near the well, a little down the slope from where the entrance to the town is
  • He may also be at his house or in the inn, both of which are next to one another at the opposite corner from the entrance.
  • Some players have reported finding him outside the inn having a chat with another NPC too.

If he isn’t in any of those locations, you’ll need to simply wander around Melve and keep an eye out for him. He’s wearing a cloak with fur shoulders, and has sweeping gray hair with shaved sides.

You’ll get 5,000 gold, 300 XP, and Miner Hosen armor as a reward, which isn’t too shabby since you can take the oxcart there and back.

How can I ensure I don’t miss the Oxcart departure in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To ensure you don’t miss the Oxcart departure in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Oxcarts only operate during the daytime. If you arrive at the station and there’s no oxcart present, you can wait by interacting with the oxcart station bell or sit on a nearby bench to pass the time until one arrives.

  • Check the signpost at the oxcart station to confirm the destination, so you board the correct cart.

  • If you see an oxcart traveling on the road while exploring, you can also hop on mid-journey by paying the fare.

  • Oxcarts do not run at night, so plan your travel accordingly and avoid waiting for one after dark.

By using the wait feature at the station and traveling during the day, you can reliably catch your oxcart and avoid missing its departure.

What time of day are Oxcarts available in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Oxcarts in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are only available during the daytime, specifically in the early morning hours. If you arrive at a station outside these hours-such as at night-you will not find any oxcarts available for travel. To catch an oxcart, plan to visit the station in the morning or during daylight, and if you’re too early or late, you can use the station’s bell or a nearby bench to wait until the next departure.

Trips can begin only during the day, though they may continue into the night once started. For time-sensitive quests like “Oxcart Courier,” make sure to pick up and board the oxcart during daylight or early morning to avoid missing your window.
