Guides

Hunting down the elusive Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is no small feat-defeat the formidable bosses Fletcher Kane and Shogun X to claim powerful abilities that can turn the tide of battle, but beware: wielding these Medallions marks your position on the map, making you a prime target for rival players. Ready to outsmart your foes and dominate the island? Here’s everything you need to know to track, fight, and secure these coveted Medallions across all platforms, from Nintendo to Xbox.

In this Fortnite guide, we’ll explain what the medallions do and where to find them in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2.

How Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 medallions work

Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 are special items dropped by bosses that grant unique buffs without occupying inventory slots, as they have a dedicated space similar to gold. There are two medallions this season: the Unstoppable Medallion, dropped by Fletcher Kane, which increases sprint speed and allows players to bash enemies while sprinting, and the Super Shield Medallion, dropped by Shogun X, which deploys a Shield Bubble Jr. when using healing items like Med Kits or Shield Potions. To obtain a medallion, players must defeat the respective boss, who is protected by respawning minions and regenerating shields, making the fight challenging. Carrying a medallion reveals the player’s location on the map, with the marker becoming more precise as more medallions are held, adding a strategic risk-reward element to their use.

Medallions are boss drops that buff you in different ways. The medallions in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 are:

  • Unstoppable Medallion, dropped by Fletcher Kane, increases your sprint speed and allows you to “bash” enemies while sprinting
  • Super Shield Medallion, dropped by Shogun X, places a Shield Bubble Jr. when you use healing items like Med Kits or Shield Potions

Medallions do not take up inventory space, as they have their own respective slot in your bag (like gold does).

To get the medallion, you’ll need to eliminate the boss NPC holding it. As you get closer to them, a large health bar will appear at the top of your screen for the respective boss.

Unlike other NPCs who are pretty easy to drop on and eliminate immediately, these NPCs all have respawning lackies that’ll fire at you once they see you. That said, it may be easier to loot up around the named locations and then head in to nab a medallion.

Luckily, the NPCs shoot like Star Wars Storm Troopers (meaning that they aim very poorly), so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the lackeys. Focus on the boss with a decent gun and you should be able to get a medallion. Note that the boss will replenish its shield frequently, making it an annoying target.

If you see an orange or gold circle on the map, this means a player in that vicinity has a medallion, too. You can eliminate that player to take their medallion.

Medallion locations in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2

In Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2, there are two key medallions players can obtain by defeating specific bosses on the map. The Unstoppable Medallion is dropped by Fletcher Kane, who spawns at one of several random vault locations scattered across the island. Defeating Kane grants increased sprint speed and the ability to bash enemies while running. The Super Shield Medallion is obtained by defeating Shogun X, a boss typically found on a floating island that appears mid-match. This medallion deploys a Shield Bubble Jr. when using healing items, providing extra protection. Both medallions do not take up inventory space but will reveal your location on the map, adding a strategic risk to their powerful benefits.

You can see the medallions (or the bosses carrying the medallions) on the map, and are at the following randomized locations:

  • Fletcher Kane is hiding out in a random vault each map, though the vault will be marked with a wolf icon.
  • Shogun X will show up on a floating island (Shogun’s Arena), during the fourth storm circle. The location of the floating island is random, but it’ll be within the circle.

To spawn Fletcher Kane, you’ll need to use thermiteon whichever vault door has the wolf icon on it. After doing this, the guards will come for you, so you’ll need to take them down. After a bit, Kane will spawn in front of the vault. He doesn’t have many specific mechanics (like Night Rose from last season did). He has guards to take down but other than that, you just need to knock him with damage as you would normally.

After beating him, you’ll get Fletcher Kane’s Double Down Pistol and the Unstoppable Medallion.

Shogun X is the same fight as last season, though this time he doesn’t spawn randomly around the map before the fourth storm circle. Defeating Shogun X will get you the Super Shield Medallion and Shogun X’s Fire Oni Mask.

What secret abilities do the Fortnite Medallions unlock for me

Fortnite Medallions grant you unique secret abilities that can significantly boost your gameplay. In Chapter 5 Season 2, each Medallion obtained from a boss unlocks a different power:

  • Zeus Medallion: Gives you a speed boost, allowing for faster movement and quick escapes.

  • Ares Medallion: Increases the damage you deal to opponents.

  • Cerberus Medallion: Grants a dash movement ability for rapid repositioning.

  • Hades Medallion: Provides a siphon effect, healing you when you eliminate other players.

However, carrying a Medallion comes with a risk-your location becomes visible to all other players on the minimap, and the more Medallions you hold, the more obvious your position becomes.

What are the hidden advantages of holding multiple Medallions at once

Holding multiple Medallions in Fortnite grants you a combination of powerful, stackable abilities, providing significant hidden advantages in battle. Each Medallion bestows a unique perk-such as health siphon on eliminations, temporary invisibility while crouching, or the ability to mark nearby enemies at random intervals. When you possess more than one Medallion, you gain all the corresponding abilities at once, allowing for versatile strategies and increased survivability.

For example:

  • You could heal after every elimination (siphon effect), evade enemies with invisibility, and gain tactical awareness by marking opponents-all simultaneously if you hold those specific Medallions.

However, this power comes at a cost: the more Medallions you carry, the more visible your location becomes to all players on the map, increasing your risk of being targeted. The true hidden advantage lies in combining these abilities to outplay opponents in high-pressure situations, especially in endgame circles, provided you can manage the increased attention and survive the hunt.
