In the Fortnite 23.50 patch update, a new cipher quest line was added that gives you a bunch of quests that will reward you with experience, a spray, a loading screen, an emoticon, and a wrap when completed. However, the quest line also came with “Encrypted Cipher quests” that require you to crack a code to decipher the quest’s location. Solving the riddle can be quite difficult, so let us help! How to decipher the Encrypted Cipher Quests in Fortnite
Each Encrypted Cipher quest features numeric codes that hide the next objective. Players can solve them by matching the numbers to letters using simple substitution methods or by identifying patterns in previously released clues. Paying attention to in-game hints, community discoveries, and Fortnite Status posts often helps narrow down the right solution. Once the code is cracked, it reveals the exact location or action required to progress through the challenge.
The Fortnite Status Twitter account posted a Twitter about when the downtime for patch 23.50 will begin, but it also included a cipher at the beginning of the tweet: “3 18 1 3 11 20 8 5 3 15 4 5.” If you substitute the numbers in the sequence with their respective letter in the alphabet, you’ll get “Crack the code,” which means that players will have to do that for the names of the quests themselves. However, there’s an extra step that you can find in Fortnite when you’re looking at the Cipher quests. You must subtract the numbers in the looping sequence found in the message on the quest page (0.3.1.0.2.0.2.3) from the number sequence in each of the quest names. (The first number in the looping sequence should be subtracted from the first number in the quest name sequence, and so on.) After you subtract the numbers, substitute the numbers with the letters of the alphabet to find the true code.
Stage 1 of 3 – 1.17.23.9.14. 19.19.24.1.21.6 – Anvil Square
Head to Anvil Square and find the marked structure in the central courtyard. Interact with the Encrypted Cipher device there to begin decoding the sequence 1.17.23.9.14.19.19.24.1.21.6, which translates to “ALLOWSSATUF.” Match the symbols on the device by selecting the correct cipher wheel positions, confirming each digit step-by-step until the full code registers as complete. This grants progress in the quest line and reveals the next stage location.
- Travel to the eastern garage building in Anvil Square in Fortnite. If you need help locating the building, check out the image above for assistance.
- Break the locker inside, which will reveal a staircase to an underground bunker.
- Head downstairs and find the next encrypted cipher on the wall.
- Interact with the message to unlock the next stage.
Stage 2 of 2– 19.19.19.1.27. 1.22. 22.16.15.10.20.21. 2.17.26.12 – Spray at Splits Bowl
After deciphering the numbers in Stage 2, the code points to the Splits Bowl near Mega City. Head to this location and use a spray on any surface inside the bowling alley to finish the task. Make sure you have at least one spray equipped before arriving, as this is the only action required to complete the challenge and register progress for the encrypted quest.

- Enter the bowling alley and open your emote wheel by pressing down on the D-Pad for consoles, or press “B” on PC.
- Spray the special “Distant Roar” spray on any surface inside Splits Bowl to complete the quest.
Stage 2 of 3 – 12.18.15.5.14.25. 14.4.2.22 – Lonely Labs
Stage 2 requires visiting Lonely Labs to continue the cipher sequence linked to code 12.18.15.5.14.25. 14.4.2.22. Land near the main warehouse, then head toward the computer terminals on the east side of the lab. Interact with the holographic display to trigger the next part of the challenge. Keep an eye out for opponents, as this area often draws players working on the same objective. Once the data upload completes, the next coordinates will become available on your quest tracker.
- Make your way to Lonely Labs, which be found near the northeastern portion of the map in Fortnite.

- Go down the stairs and interact with any of the computers found on the bottom floor to complete the quest.
Stage 3 of 3 – 19.11.2.20.22.5.20.8.4. 22.13.1.4.19 – Shattered Slabs
At Shattered Slabs, the code 19.11.2.20.22.5.20.8.4. 22.13.1.4.19 directs you to the quarry area on the map’s western side. Search between the concrete structures near the large central pit, where a glowing cipher hologram can be found. Interact with it to complete this stage and progress through the encrypted quest sequence. Remember to stay alert, as enemy players often gather nearby due to the confined terrain and scattered loot.

- Climb to the top of hill to reach a roofed area.
- Swing your harvesting tool at the designated area on the floor to uncover the hidden arcade machine and complete the quest.
All Encrypted Cipher quest codes and solutions
Encrypted Cipher quests in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 used a substitution cipher with a looping subtraction key (0, 3, 1, 0, 2, 0, 2, 3) applied to number sequences, then mapped to letters (1=A, 2=B, etc.) to reveal locations and tasks.

Milestones included Keep the Peace Spray (7 unencrypted), Circuitry Wrap (3 encrypted), and Distant Roar Spray (specific quest like Splits Bowl). These quests ran February 28 to March 10, 2023, and are no longer active as of 2026-check Fortnite’s current quest tab for similar events.
Where are Bastion Outposts located
Bastion Outposts in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 were four medieval-themed structures on elevated snowy terrain around the Brutal Bastion POI in the northern map region.
