As you’re trying to find the lost billionaire’s family in Sons of the Forest, you may come across a mysterious gold door that has an imprint of an arm. If you try to open the door without the golden armor, the door won’t open, and you’ll have to leave through the way you came. Just where is the golden armor on this huge island, though? How to get the golden armor in Sons of the Forest
Golden Armor is found deep inside a cave system near a large lake; you’ll need to reach the cave, navigate its chambers, and grab both the armor on a couch and the katana on a nearby stand before exiting through the lower levels.
To get the golden armor in Sons of the Forest, you first need to get the maintenance keycard before entering. As always, there are a lot of enemies inside this bunker, so prepare yourself with healing items and weapons.
- Travel to the bunker located to the east of a lake that itself is east of the snowy mountains. This bunker is on the other side of the starting side of the island, so you’ll have to cross or go around the mountains to reach this bunker.
- Enter the bunker and follow the path to find an opening in the floor.
- Drop into the hole and proceed down the stairs.
- Use the maintenance keycard to open the door at the bottom of the staircase.
- Go down the stairs to find another door at the bottom of the stairs. Once you open this door, a cutscene will play and you won’t be able to exit the way you came.
- Proceed forward past the two open doors and enter the door straight ahead. Note that these rooms contain various items that you might want, so feel free to explore and grab the items inside.
- Head downstairs to Level 2, which has a similar layout to the floor above.
- Skip the first two open doors and enter the third open door to find thegolden armor on the couch.
How to get the katana in Sons of the Forest
To get the katana, head to the Residential Bunker on the south-eastern side of the island, marked as a green point of interest on your GPS near the lake east of the snowy mountain. Enter the cave at the rock fissure, drop through the metal-rimmed hole into the bunker, and use the Maintenance and Guest Keycards to progress through the secured doors. Go down to level 2, clear the mutants, and search the third apartment or room near the end of the floor, where the katana rests on a stand on a small table between the couches.
- Exit the room containing the golden armor and turn left.
- Enter the room with the open door to find the katana on a weapon stand beside the couch.
To exit the cave, head down to Level 5 where you can find the golden mask on a covered body and a double door that will lead to a cave. Enter the double door and follow the path to find the exit.

Maintenance, VIP, and Guest Keycards in Sons of the Forest are essential for accessing bunkers and story progression, found in specific northwestern bunkers marked on your GPS after interacting with related laptops.
Maintenance Keycard
Dig up the dirt mound with surveying equipment at the northwestern riverbend (orange marker northwest of snowy mountains, near Maintenance A). Descend the ladder, enter the first room on the right, and grab it from the table by the 3D printer and laptop (also loot the Firefighter Axe deeper in).
VIP Keycard
Head to the cave bunker north of the large beach lake (green food icon marker, near two vine-covered golf carts). Enter the hatch, use Maintenance Keycard on the first blue reader, swim through flooded hydroponic rooms and corridors, then enter the left doorway at the end to find it on a desk amid security monitors.
Guest Keycard
Northwest of the five-river lake (another green marker near a vine-covered golf cart, at Recreational/Entertainment Bunker). Use Maintenance Keycard on the end door to access the gym, go left past reception and tanks, up the dual staircases, through the pool/bar area, and pick it up on a table amid dead bodies in the right-side nightclub booth.
