Deep within the Abbey grounds lies the Standing Stones puzzle-an ancient riddle tied to cosmic power and buried secrets. Solving its glowing sequence isn’t just a test of memory; it’s the key to opening legendary chests hidden among the shadows of Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
On the east side of the Abbey grounds in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you’ll come across the Standing Stones – five pillars with a platform in the center. You’re able to touch the stones, but you need the right sequence to receive the reward: three legendary chests. To unlock each chest, you’ll need to locate three unique codes to unlock each chest, which are scattered throughout the grounds. Continue reading to find out where each code can be found and what is required to unlock each area.
Note that each sequence is unique to the character, so the order in this guide may be different than yours. Also, some players have reported bugs with the sequence. There is a chance for a sigil to appear in the sequence twice, but you can’t interact with a stone twice.
Where are the Standing Stones?
The Standing Stones are located in the Abbey Grounds, deep within the surrounding woods. You can reach the site by following the trail leading north from the Abbey toward Agatha’s Cottage. The stones are arranged in a circular formation near a small clearing, easily spotted by their glowing runes at night. Exploring the area carefully will help you spot nearby clues and symbols needed to complete the puzzle.
The Standing Stones can be found on the east side of the Abbey grounds. To reach them, you’ll need to use the first Word of Power to open doors blocking the area. While on the center platform, use the second Word of Power to reveal the sigils on each stone.
Sigil sequence locations
Each Standing Stone in the Abbey grounds corresponds to a unique sigil, and the correct order to activate them follows the sequence shown in the nearby carved pillars. The markings glow faintly at night or when using the “Reveal” Word of Power, making it easier to spot the correct symbols. Begin with the sigil displayed at the base of the first stone and move clockwise through the circle until all are activated in the right pattern. Completing the sequence makes the stones resonate together, opening access to the hidden legendary chest nearby.
First sequence
- Head to the Chapel inside the Abbey.
- Look at the south-facing wall to find the first sequence.
- Unlock the northeast region of the Abbey grounds using the second Word of Power.
- Find the second sigil sequence inside of Agatha’s cottage.
- Use the third Word of Power to uncover Lilith’s Garden in the northwest region of the Abbey grounds.
- Use the fourth Word of Power to destroy the wall inside of the greenhouse.
- Descend the ladder to find the third sequence on the opposite wall.

Legendary Arcane Chests from Standing Stones offer random high-tier rewards.
Typical Rewards
These chests provide the best loot from Arcane containers in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, including:

Resources such as Credits, Gloss, Attack/Skill/Heroic Essence (e.g., 200 each in some scripted chests).

Rewards scale with your Arcane Level and are not fixed per Standing Stones chest (unlike Lilith’s Garden basement chests). They replenish over time for repeat openings, prioritizing cosmetics if others are collected.
Where to find all three Standing Stones glyph patterns
The three Standing Stones glyph patterns in Marvel’s Midnight Suns are uniquely randomized per playthrough, so you’ll need to visit each fixed location to note your specific sequences (left-to-right order of five symbols).
First Pattern: Abbey Chapel
Head to the Chapel in the southern Abbey area (below the Barracks). Check the stone brick wall to the left of the bookshelf or the south-facing wall for the glyphs.
Second Pattern: Agatha’s Cottage
Travel to Agatha’s Cottage in the northeastern Abbey Grounds (north of Everflowing Glade; unlock with “Reveal” Word of Power after the second Moon Seal). The glyphs appear on the log wall to the right of the couch and fireplace.
Third Pattern: Lilith’s Garden Basement
Go to Lilith’s Garden in the northwest Grounds (unlock entrance with “Purify” after third Moon Seal). Inside the greenhouse, use the fourth Word of Power to break the wall, climb down the ladder to the basement, and inspect the back/opposite wall.
Once noted, return to the Standing Stones (eastern Grounds, unlocked with “Open” then “Reveal”) and input each exact sequence by interacting with the matching pillars to spawn a Legendary Arcane Chest.
