Noibat is taking the spotlight in Pokémon Go’s next Community Day, bringing boosted spawns, shiny chances, and special moves that trainers won’t want to miss. Here’s everything you should know to make the most of this high-flying event.
How do I catch a shiny Noibat?
Shiny Noibat can be caught during Community Day by taking advantage of the event’s boosted spawn rates and increased Shiny odds. Make sure to use Incense and Lure Modules to draw in more Noibat around your area. Catch as many as possible during the event window, and if you’re short on Poké Balls, stock up beforehand. Afterward, check your catches carefully-shiny Noibat stands out with its teal body and green wings, making it easy to spot among regular ones.
According to research conducted by Pokémon community site The Silph Road, Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon.

If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Noibat to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren’t shiny. Notably, any Noibat you’ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.
What Community Day move does Noibat’s evolution learn?
Evolving Noibat into Noivern during the event or five hours after grants the Charged Attack Boomburst, a powerful Normal-type move at 150 power in Trainer Battles and 140 in gyms or raids. This exclusive move becomes available only through timely evolution on February 5, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time. Players can later obtain it via Elite TM if the window closes.
If you evolve Noibat into Noivern between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. in your local time, it will learn the charged move Boomburst.
If you miss out on evolving it during this period, you will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Boomburst. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the move.
How does Noivern do in the meta?
Noivern holds a modest spot in the Pokémon Go meta. Its Dragon and Flying typing gives it useful resistances, but its stats and moveset limit its competitive value. With fast energy gain from Wing Attack and charged moves like Draco Meteor or Boomburst, it can pressure opponents in certain situations, though other Dragons such as Dragonite or Salamence usually perform better. Noivern’s main appeal lies in collection value and raid novelty rather than as a dominant PvP choice.
Noivern is neither useful in PvE nor PvP content, which is sad, since it used to be such a rarity to find.
If you need a good dragon- or flying-type attackers for PvE content, stick to the basics: Salamence, Rayquaza, and Garchomp for dragon-types and Moltres, Ho-Oh, and Honchkrow for flying-types. (Of course, there are other good Pokémon other than these six, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind for raids.)
How do I make the most of Noibat Community Day?
Make the most of Noibat Community Day by focusing on catching as many Noibat as possible during the event hours to gather enough Candy for evolution and powering up Noivern. Use Pinap Berries to double your Candy gains, and take advantage of the event bonuses such as reduced hatch distance and increased Incense duration. Team up with friends to trade for better IVs or Lucky Noibat, and keep an eye out for the shiny version, which will be easier to find during the event.
The following bonuses will be active during Noibat Community Day:
- Tripled Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Doubled candy for catching Pokémon
- Doubled chance for level 31 trainers to get XL candy from catching Pokémon
- Incense lasts three hours
- Lure Modules lasts three hours
- Noibat special photobombs when taking snapshots
- One additional special trade
- Stardust cost halved for trading
That said, you should definitely pop a Star Piece and an Incense and try to nab some powerful Noibat.
If you can Mega EvolveCharizard (to either form), Pidgeot, Aerodactyl, Ampharos, Sceptile, Altaria, Salamence, Latias, or Latios, you’ll score additional Noibat Candy per catch.
In addition to all this, Niantic is still running special four-star raids from 5-10 p.m., where if you clear the Noibat raid, Noibat will spawn in a 300-meter radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be done remotely. If the usual 2-5 p.m. spawn increase doesn’t get you the Noibat you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance.
Best counters for soloing Noibat Tier 4 raids
Noibat is double-weak to Ice and also weak to Dragon, Fairy, and Rock, so strong Ice specialists are the most reliable way to solo the Tier 4 raid.
Top teams for a solo
Aim for level 35-40+ Pokémon with good IVs; shadows are even better if you have them built.
Best overall options (non-shadow):
-
Mega Glalie with Ice Shard + Avalanche.
-
Mega Abomasnow with Powder Snow + Weather Ball (Ice).
-
Galarian Darmanitan with Ice Fang + Avalanche.
-
Mamoswine with Powder Snow + Avalanche.
-
Weavile with Ice Shard + Avalanche.
-
Glaceon with Frost Breath + Avalanche.
-
Avalugg or Hisuian Avalugg with Ice Fang/Powder Snow + Avalanche/Blizzard.
-
Jynx with Frost Breath + Avalanche.
-
Kyurem with Dragon Breath + Blizzard.
-
Articuno with Ice Shard + Blizzard.
A very safe 6-mon solo team is: Mega Glalie (or Mega Abomasnow), Mamoswine, Galarian Darmanitan, Weavile, Glaceon, and Avalugg, all with double-Ice moves.
Other strong backups
If you are missing some of the top Ice types, mix in high-level Dragons and Rocks:
-
Mega Salamence, Mega Latios, Mega Latias, Rayquaza, Dragonite, Garchomp, Palkia, Zekrom with Dragon fast move + Draco Meteor/Outrage.
-
Mega Aerodactyl, Rampardos with Rock Throw/Smack Down + Rock Slide.
-
Regice with Frost Breath + Blizzard.
These are still under the 180-second timer in sims, but you should anchor your team with at least 3-4 Ice attackers if you want a consistent solo.
Practical tips for the solo
-
Use a Dragon- or Ice-type Mega (Glalie, Abomasnow, Salamence, Latios/Latias) first to boost your team’s damage and extra Candy.
-
Dodge Charged Moves if you are using glass cannons like Weavile or Jynx to reduce deaths and relobby time.
-
Windy weather boosts both Noibat and your Dragons; if you are heavy on Dragon counters, this can help you finish faster, but Ice remains safer overall.
If you share your current roster, I can suggest an exact 6-Pokémon squad and whether your level is high enough to solo comfortably.
Best movesets for top Noibat raid counters
For the main Noibat Tier 4 raid counters, you generally want full STAB, double-super-effective or super-effective moves, with fast moves matching the Pokémon’s highest attack stat and charged moves with high DPS and good reliability.
