Reducing Notoriety in Assassin s Creed Mirage Tips and Methods

Guides

Caught in the crosshairs of Baghdad’s watchful eyes in Assassin’s Creed Mirage? When your notoriety meter spikes, the city’s guards and elite Shakiriyya won’t let you walk the streets in peace. But fear not-whether you’re stealthily tearing down wanted posters or bribing the elusive Munadi with precious Power Tokens, there are clever ways to wipe your name clean and vanish back into the shadows.

How notoriety works in AC Mirage

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, notoriety increases when Basim commits illegal acts such as stealing, trespassing, or killing and is seen by NPCs. The notoriety system has three tiers, each escalating the level of threat: at the first tier, wanted posters appear and civilians alert guards; at the second, guards have heightened perception and archers patrol rooftops; and at the third, elite Shakiriyya guards actively hunt Basim. This system adds a layer of stealth challenge, as guards remember Basim’s notoriety even when not in pursuit. Managing notoriety is crucial to avoid relentless guard attention and maintain freedom of movement in Baghdad.

There are three levels of notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage:

  • At level 1, random passers-by may recognize you, and shout for guards.
  • At level 2, archers patrol the rooftops, guards are more alert, and civilians are more likely to spot you (and thus shout for guards).
  • At level 3, you’re relentlessly chased by elite soldiers – who will likely mess up your day.

Your wanted level increases the more crimes (namely, assassination and theft) you commit. It’s displayed in the lower righthand corner of your HUD.

How to decrease notoriety in AC Mirage

To decrease notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, players have three main options. The fastest and most straightforward way is to tear down wanted posters scattered around Baghdad, each poster reducing your notoriety by one level. These posters are marked on your navigation bar, and removing all three will clear your notoriety completely. Another effective method is to bribe a Munadi, a town crier who can wipe your notoriety clean in exchange for a Power Token, which can be earned through contracts or pickpocketing. Lastly, if you reach the highest notoriety level and are hunted by the elite Shakiriyya, defeating them will also reset your notoriety. Additionally, staying hidden or blending into crowds before reaching the first notoriety tier can naturally lower your notoriety over time.

You can decrease your notoriety by removing wanted posters strewn about the city. They look like this:

Wanted posters aren’t always in obvious places. (I’ve mostly found them in tunnels or narrow walkways.) They don’t show up on your map, either, but they will show up on your compass. Just orient yourself toward this icon:

Every wanted poster you find and remove will cause your notoriety to drop by one level. Be warned, though: If your notoriety is at level 3, civilians tend to cluster around posters, making it harder to remove them without the guards getting called.

The more efficient, but far more expensive, method for reducing notoriety is to bribe town criers known as Munadi. In exchange for one power token – a rare currency earned through completing side quests – they’ll eliminate your notoriety entirely. They show up on your map:

Want to know the secret to staying anonymous in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

To stay anonymous in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the key is mastering stealth and managing your notoriety carefully. Avoid committing crimes in front of civilians to prevent your notoriety from rising, as your infamy only increases when witnessed by the public. Use Enkidu, your eagle companion, to scout ahead and mark enemies, helping you plan safe routes and avoid detection. When you do need to eliminate foes, try to hide bodies quickly in haystacks, carts, or other spots to prevent guards from raising alarms. If your notoriety does spike, break line of sight, use hiding spots like bushes or carts, and wait for your wanted level to drop back to anonymous. Investing in the Trickster skill tree will also enhance your stealth tools and abilities, making it easier to stay unseen and slip away unnoticed.

How can I lower my notoriety quickly after a crime in Mirage

To quickly lower your notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage after committing a crime, you have three main options:

  • Remove Wanted Posters: These posters appear on walls in specific locations and removing one will reduce your notoriety by one level. At the highest notoriety tier, you may need to find and tear down multiple posters to fully clear your name. Watch for the poster icon on your map and approach carefully to avoid detection while removing them.

  • Bribe a Munadi: Munadi are town criers who can instantly clear all your notoriety in exchange for a Power Token. This is the fastest and most efficient method, especially if you have reached higher notoriety tiers. Munadi locations are marked on your map when you have notoriety, making them easy to find.

  • Hide and Wait: If your notoriety has not yet reached the next threshold, you can simply hide in benches, haycarts, bushes, or tall grass and avoid further crimes. Staying out of sight will cause your notoriety meter to gradually decrease back to the previous tier or to anonymous.

Using these methods strategically will help you maintain stealth and avoid the attention of guards and elite Shakiriyya forces.
