Guides

Hidden high above the frozen cliffs of Hebra, the Taninoud Shrine guards a crystal lost among the clouds. This guide shows you exactly where to find it and how to solve the East Hebra Sky Crystal puzzle that seals its secrets.

When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.

Taninoud Shrine location

Taninoud Shrine is located in the East Hebra Sky Archipelago, far above the Hebra Mountains in the northwest region of Hyrule. To reach it, use the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower to launch into the air, then glide north toward the floating islands visible on the map. The shrine coordinates are roughly (-1800, 3400, 0949). You’ll need to complete the East Hebra Sky Crystal challenge to activate the shrine once you arrive at the area.

The Taninoud Shrine is found within the Hebra Mountains Sky region, after solving a puzzle spread across East Hebra Sky Archipelago. Exact coordinates are (-1800, 3406, 0949).

The archipelago is above the North Tabantha Snowfield on the surface – but getting up there is a bit of a chore. You could find a fallen block for a quick Recall elevator ride or paraglide down with ample height, but here’s how we did it.

How to get to Taninoud Shrine and the East Hebra Sky Crystal

Taninoud Shrine is found in the East Hebra Sky Archipelago, high above the Hebra Mountains. To reach it, travel to the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower and launch yourself into the sky, then glide southeast toward the floating islands marked by large ice formations. Use Zonai devices or platforms to bridge gaps between the islands until you reach the one with the shrine. The East Hebra Sky Crystal puzzle begins nearby-carry the glowing crystal across the islands by melting or moving ice blocks to clear a path back to the shrine pedestal.

1. Start at the Wind Temple, then proceed east, leaping off the ship and bouncing on the ship trampolines until you’re paragliding east without a safety net. If you see the floating cubes, you’re headed the right way.

2. Glide down until you see the sky archipelago, which hovers above a Tear of the Dragon geoglyph. The exact coordinates are (-2131, 3183, 0951).

3. Once you’ve landed on the big island in East Hebra Sky Archipelago, run to the northeast corner to find a floating Zonai block. Use Ultrahand to assemble a ship out of the fans, batteries, and steering handle. Position the fans facing down in order to initially send the ship above the other floating blocks in front of you – there are Soldier Constructs stationed around the archipelago you can easily avoid.

4. Once you’ve sent the floating block up into the air, use Ultrahand to reposition the fans to blast behind you so you propel forward.

5. Ride the floating block to the cross island where you can see the deactivated Taninoud Shrine. Activating the sigil will produce a green beam to help you find the crystal.

Taninoud Shrine and East Hebra Sky Crystal walkthrough

Taninoud Shrine is tied to the East Hebra Sky Crystal shrine quest, which starts on the small sky island north of the Rising Island Chain. Activate the shrine pedestal, then glide to the nearby island with the green crystal encased in ice. Melt the ice using fire fruit, a flame emitter, or another heat source, then attach the crystal to a wing or construct a bridge with nearby boards to carry it back across the gap. Once the crystal is returned to the pedestal, Taninoud Shrine will appear, offering a simple reward room with a chest and Light of Blessing.

After making your way to the Taninoud Shrine on the East Hebra Sky Archipelago, you’ll need to use Ultrahand to complete an aerial drop mission. It’s like Operation Dumbo Drop but instead of an elephant it’s a green shrine crystal.

1. Run to the wheel controlling the stone catapult and turn it counterclockwise until it’s positioned toward the floating rock targeted by the crystal beam. Position Link on the catapult.

2. After catapulting Link to the island, run to the northeast cliffside and jump off. Paraglide back around to the side of the island, where you’ll an opening blocked by vines. While still airborne, shoot the vines with a fire arrow, then float into the opening.

3. Run into the newly opened cave and chop down the remaining vines to discover the green shrine crystal. Pick up the crystal and bring it into the opening chamber of the cave and attach it to the room’s floating Zonai block using Ultrahand.

4. Look left to find a pile of scattered Zonai parts. Use Ultrahand to build another ship, then drag it over into the open air outside the cave.

5. Climb on to the floating block craft, then steer it to the left around the island, then straight ahead to the shrine island. Grab the green shrine crystal using Ultrahand to bring it down to sigil and activate the Taninoud Shrine.

How to reach Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower fast

Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower is located in the snowy Hebra Mountains northwest Hyrule at coordinates (-2312, 3064, 0536). The fastest routes leverage nearby warp points or aerial approaches to bypass tough climbing in cold weather.โ€‹

Quick Warp and Glide

Warp to Mayaumekis Shrine (if unlocked) and glide southeast toward the tower, using Tulin’s Gust (post-Rito questline) for extra lift and speed across the gaps. From Orochium Shrine near Snowfield Stable, paraglide northwest up the snowbank, avoiding the nearby Gleeok by sticking to rock formations.โ€‹

Aerial Launch Options

From Hebra Mountains (if explored), paraglide directly southeast to land on the peak-rockets or fire balloons accelerate this for speed. Equip cold resistance gear or elixirs beforehand to maintain stamina.โ€‹

Bridge Repair Climb

Approach from below the tower’s cliff: Use Ultrahand to grab 2-4 nearby wooden planks, attach them vertically or horizontally to the broken hanging bridge, then climb up while monitoring stamina-Recall fixes steep angles if needed. Activate the terminal inside to unlock the map section.โ€‹

Best paraglide launch points to reach the tower quickly

Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower stands high in the snowy Hebra Mountains, making elevated paraglide launches the quickest way to reach it without lengthy climbs.

Mayaumekis Shrine Launch

Warp to Mayaumekis Shrine (coordinates around -3548, 3650, 0382) southeast of the tower, then paraglide northwest with stamina boosts from food or Tulin’s Gust for a direct glide over snowfields in under two minutes.โ€‹

Orochium Shrine Approach

From Orochium Shrine near Snowfield Stable (southwest at roughly -1650, 2440, 0137), head northwest up rocky ledges and launch from the highest snowbank, angling southeast to cover the distance swiftly while dodging updrafts.โ€‹

Hebra Peak Paraglide

Launch from high points in western Hebra Mountains (near -4000, 3000, 0800) after exploring early-game areas, using rocket boosters on a wing or fire fruits for propulsion to close the gap rapidly from afar. Cold resistance gear ensures stamina holds during descent.โ€‹
