The “Missing Clues” quest in The Sims 4 is part of the “Blast from the Past” event and begins after completing the “A Strange Visitor” quest. To start, players must refresh their memory by playing The Sims Archives on a computer, then find a Special Time Capsule by digging at rocks or dirt mounds, with Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek being a recommended location. After opening the capsule and reading the IOU note inside, players report back to Emit, the blue-haired character found in the park. The quest continues by accusing three Sims of being time travelers and concludes with the Sim pondering time travel while using a shower, bath, or toilet. Completing this quest rewards players with event points and unlocks further narrative content in the event.
To unlock the “Missing Clues” event quest in The Sims 4, you need to complete the prior quest, “A Strange Visitor.” That quest had us running around gathering information. Now that we’ve done that we’re going on a little treasure hunt.
The game tells you to “Refresh Your Memory in The Sims Archives.” Go find a computer and interact with it. Select the option, “Play Game.” and then click “Play The Sims Archives.” After that, the game tells you to “Find the Special Time Capsule.” In this part of the quest, you’re going on a little treasure hunt until you find the right item. There are several correct ways to find the item, we’ll explain how we did it.
AELGAMES traveled to Magnolia Blossom Park, paused the game, and scanned the scenery until we found a spot to dig. You can find a spot to dig up a collectible by looking for a protruding rock as pictured below. Once you find one of such rocks, click it and examine your options. If it shows the option, “Dig for Special Time Capsule,” then click it. You found the right rock. Some won’t have that option. Keep looking for a rock until it gives you that option.
Once you find the time capsule, click the box-like button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen to open your Inventory. Click the “Special Time Capsule” item and select “Open.” It will turn into an item labeled “IOU Note.” Click the “IOU Note” item and select the “Read IOU” option.
Now go find our blue-haired boy, Emit. He was still in Magnolia Blossom Park when we went to look for him at this point in the quest. Click him and select the option, “Report about Time Capsule.” Now – and for the last time – we’re going to talk to three Sims characters again. Talk to three Sims and select the option, “Accuse of Being of Time Traveler.”
Once you do that it’s time for one final step: Some good old thinking time on the toilet. Go back home, use either the toilet or shower, and select the option, “Ponder Time Travel.” Once you do that, you’re good to go.
