What’s a dragon game? That’s any game that’s got dragons in it – typically, a game that prominently features dragons. While some dragons in dragon games are less prominent, they are no less important. Dragon games can be a part of any genre, be it the ever challenging Elden Ring or the cozy life simulator Little Dragons Café. Whatever sort of game you’re looking to play, there’s probably a dragon game that fits within that genre.
And I’m an expert at this because, of course, I love dragons. A couple years ago, I read the nine books in Naomi Novik’s Temeraire series, and I was hooked. I’d never been a big fantasy reader – until then. I set off the following year largely reading only books that featured dragons. Eventually, the obsession seeped into the video games I played, too.
As for this list, there is one obvious choice of a dragon game, one that most people likely know: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, so I’m leaving it off. But do know, it’s an all-timer for dragons – and, if for some reason you haven’t played it yet, give it a try. But if you’re looking for something different, something that maybe you haven’t heard of or hadn’t realized was a dragon game, keep reading.

Which upcoming dragon game in 2025 promises the most epic battles
The upcoming dragon game in 2025 that promises the most epic battles appears to be Skyfear, featured among top upcoming dragon games for the year, known for its intense combat and immersive dragon encounters. While specific details on battle scale are limited, Skyfear stands out in lists highlighting thrilling dragon-themed gameplay for 2025. Additionally, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons offers dynamic tag-team combat and challenging boss fights, but it is more of a beat ’em up than a dragon-centric battle epic. For truly epic dragon battles, Skyfear is the most anticipated title based on current previews and rankings.
Will ’Double Dragon Gaiden’ feature the most intense battles in 2025
No, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons does not promise the most intense battles in 2025. While it offers solid combat mechanics, fast-paced tag-team action, and a variety of characters with unique moves, its combat has been criticized for some balance issues and repetitive elements, which may limit the intensity and variety of battles compared to other titles. The upcoming Double Dragon Revive aims to refine the classic gameplay with modern controls and strategic combat, but it is more of a nostalgic beat ’em up than a game focused on epic battle scale. Therefore, while Double Dragon Gaiden is a strong entry in the beat ’em up genre with enjoyable combat, it is not regarded as the game with the most intense battles in 2025.
