Hidden across Hyrule are dozens of ancient shrines waiting to be conquered – but how many are there in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and what secret prize awaits those who complete them all?
How many shrines are in Zelda: TOTK?
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom contains 152 shrines scattered across Hyrule’s surface, depths, and sky islands. Players receive a Light of Blessing from each one, exchangeable at Goddess Statues for heart containers or stamina vessels. Completing all 152 grants access to the Ancient Hero’s Aspect armor set in the Temple of Time.โ
In total, there are 120 shrines on Hyrule’s surface and 32 shrines in the sky. Completing them will earn you plenty of rewards, but finishing all of them will complete “The Shrine Explorer” side quest, unlocking a new piece of armor for Link that not only looks cool but offers some insight into the lore of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom‘s Zonai civilization.

All shrines reward in Zelda: TOTK
Completing all 152 shrines in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom grants players the Ancient Hero’s Aspect armor set, found in a chest at the Temple of Time on the Great Sky Island. This unique outfit covers Link’s head, body, and legs with a distinctive Zonai design, offering solid defense that reaches 84 points after full upgrades at Great Fairy Fountains. Completing all 152 shrines in Tears of the Kingdom will unlock the Ancient Hero’s Aspect, an armor item that spans head, body, and leg gear.
When you complete the final shrine, you’ll receive a message that tells you to “make your way to the Temple of Time” and that “you shall find a suitable reward for your efforts.”
How to get the Ancient Hero’s Aspect
To get the Ancient Hero’s Aspect, you need to complete all 152 shrines scattered across Hyrule, including those in the Sky and the Depths. After finishing the final shrine, visit the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau, where a treasure chest will appear inside the shrine of light. Opening it grants you the Ancient Hero’s Aspect, a powerful armor set that transforms Link’s appearance into that of an ancient warrior and provides a significant stat boost.
Fast travel to the Great Sky Island and head to the Temple of Time there, using Recall to navigate the gears up to the second level. Once you get off the middle gear, you’ll find a treasure chest containing the Ancient Hero’s Aspect right behind the goddess statue.

The Ancient Hero’s Aspect grants 12 defense initially (though it can be upgraded like other pieces of armor) and transforms Link’s appearance into that of a Zonai – apparently the Zonai who helped defeat Calamity Ganon some 10,000 years ago.
Here is the Ancient Hero’s Aspect’s in-game description: “This item is said to contain the spirit of a hero who once saved Hyrule. That hero’s aura will envelop the wearer.”
The Ancient Hero is adorned in the Zonai aesthetic that players see in constructs throughout Tears of the Kingdom, and he wears the long, fiery red hair depicted in the Calamity Ganon lore tapestry from Breath of the Wild. The name of that ancient hero is unknown, however – and certainly ripe for exploration in future Zelda content.
How to find coordinates for every TotK shrine
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features 152 shrines total. Comprehensive lists with exact coordinates (in the format XXXX, YYYY, ZZZZ) for all shrines are available on dedicated guide websites, organized by region like Akkala, Hebra, and Necluda.โ
Finding Coordinates
Use interactive maps or detailed guides from sites like IGN, TheGamer, or Game8, which provide precise coordinates alongside shrine names and notes on access methods (e.g., caves or sky islands). For example, Kamatukis Shrine is at 3427, 3345, 0070 near Skull Lake, while Ikatak Shrine sits at -3951, 1139, 0126 in Tabantha Frontier.โ
In-Game Methods
Enable the map’s coordinate display by pressing the “-” key (or equivalent on your platform) to view Link’s current position. Acquire the Shrine Sensor from Robbie after advancing Purah Pad upgrades-it beeps louder near uncompleted shrines, helping narrow searches without external lists. Lightroots in the Depths directly correspond to surface shrines overhead, revealing 120 surface locations via their beams.โโ
