Get ready, Trainers! Pokémon GO’s Holiday Part 2 event returns from December 22 to 27, 2024, bringing festive flair with Wooloo and Dubwool in holiday costumes, the first-ever Shiny Cetoddle, and double XP bonuses that make this the perfect season to catch, raid, and celebrate.
All players will be able to get doubled XP from catching Pokémon and 50% more XP from raiding. All Adventure Incense used from Dec. 25 at 9 a.m. until Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. in your local time will also last for double the usual time, which should hopefully help you find some Galarian birds.
There are also some spawns that’ll only show up if you use incense, as well as a paid Timed Research ticket, so this event is full of stuff to do. The “Dual Destiny” Special Research also got an update with this event.
Below, we list all the perks of the Pokémon Go “Holiday Part 2” event, including the paid Timed Research ticket, incense spawns, and Field Research.
Pokémon Go ’Feeling Sheepish’ paid Timed Research and reward
The Pokémon Go “Feeling Sheepish” Premium Timed Research is a paid questline available during the Holiday Part 2 event from December 22 to December 27, 2024, costing around $5.00 or equivalent local currency. Players who purchase the ticket can complete two sets of tasks involving catching Pokémon, spinning PokéStops or Gyms, and using Incense. Rewards include encounters with Wooloo in holiday attire, Incense, Stardust, XP, Pinap Berries, a Glacial Lure Module, and a Wooloo Jacket avatar item. This research must be completed and rewards claimed before the event ends on December 27 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
If you complete this $5 research before the event ends, you’ll get a special reward. Is the paid “Holiday Part 2” Timed Research worth it? Only if you really want the Wooloo jacket cosmetic and more Wooloo in holiday gear. The two incense and single Glacial Lure Module you get from this set can be bought for 260 coins (less than $5 worth), so you should really only grab this if you want the jacket or the Wooloo encounters.

How can I maximize my XP gains during Pokémon Go Holiday Part 2
To maximize your XP gains during Pokémon GO Holiday Part 2 (December 22-27, 2024), follow these key strategies:
-
Take advantage of the event’s double catch XP bonus by focusing on catching as many Pokémon as possible, aiming for excellent throws to maximize XP per catch.
-
Use Lucky Eggs while catching to double your XP gains even further, especially during bursts of catching or raids.
-
Participate in raids, which grant 50% more XP during the event; completing a Tier 5 raid can yield around 40,000 XP with the event bonuses and a Lucky Egg active.
-
Mega evolve a Pokémon that matches the types of many wild spawns during the event (such as Mega Sableye for dark/ghost types) to earn extra candy and XP when catching those Pokémon.
-
Use Adventure Incense from December 25 to January 5 to benefit from doubled incense duration, increasing your chances of encountering event Pokémon and gaining more XP.
-
Combine these methods with daily bonuses, friendship XP gains, and timed research tasks to further boost your XP haul during the event.
By focusing on high-volume catching with excellent throws, raiding efficiently, and using Lucky Eggs strategically, you can significantly amplify your XP gains throughout the Holiday Part 2 event.
What are the most effective ways to use Lucky Eggs during the event
The most effective ways to use Lucky Eggs during the Pokémon GO Holiday Part 2 event are:
-
During Friendship Level Ups: Activate a Lucky Egg right before reaching Ultra Friend or Best Friend status with multiple friends to double the large XP rewards (up to 100,000 XP doubled to 200,000 XP) from friendship milestones.
-
Mass Evolutions During Double XP Buffs: Use Lucky Eggs when there is a double evolution XP event or buff, evolving hundreds of Pokémon in a short time to maximize XP gains (up to 4x XP per evolution).
-
While Catching Pokémon in Bulk: Combine Lucky Eggs with Incense and Lures to catch many Pokémon quickly, capitalizing on the event’s increased spawns and double catch XP. Keep moving to maximize encounters and XP gains.
-
During Raid Battles: Use Lucky Eggs before and during raids to double the already increased raid XP, especially for Tier 5 Legendary raids, to maximize XP per raid.
-
Completing Special Research or Timed Research Tasks: Activate Lucky Eggs just before completing research tasks that grant XP to double the rewards.
-
Coordinated XP Groups: Join or form groups that synchronize friendship level ups and Lucky Egg use to maximize XP gains for all members.
In summary, the best strategy is to save Lucky Eggs for moments when you can earn large bursts of XP-friendship level ups, mass evolutions, raids, and bulk catching-often combining them with Incense, Lures, and event bonuses to quadruple or more your XP gains during the event’s limited window.
