Ready to trade in your hard-earned rank for glory and exclusive rewards? In Black Ops 6, reaching level 55 unlocks the gateway to Prestige-a bold reset that lets you keep your weapon progress and challenges while you chase new emblems, operator skins, and the coveted Prestige Master and Legend titles. If you’re ready to stand out on the battlefield, here’s how to take the leap and prestige your way to the top.
Black Ops 6 improves on the prestige feature by allowing you to keep some of your progression as you advance, so you don’t have to grind as hard to get back to where you were. You’re also rewarded with a lot of in-game cosmetics every ten levels, so there is something to look forward to in between hitting the next prestige.
If the rewards aren’t enough for you, you can chase the extreme challenge of surpassing the ten prestige levels and aim for level 1000. In doing so, you’ll receive a secret reward and, maybe even a tease for the next Call of Duty title.
The only problem is, it can be a little difficult to find in Black Ops 6’s menus, so let us help. Here’s how to prestige in Black Ops 6, what changes when you prestige, and all of the prestige rewards.
Black Ops 6 prestige level requirement
To prestige in Black Ops 6, you must first reach player level 55, which is the maximum level before prestige becomes available. Once you hit level 55, you will receive a prompt allowing you to activate prestige, resetting your level back to 1 and relocking all level-based unlocks such as weapons, perks, and equipment. This requirement is consistent across multiplayer and Zombies modes, and the option to prestige is available immediately upon reaching level 55, without waiting for seasonal resets. After prestiging, you begin progressing through the prestige ranks, with up to 10 prestige levels available before unlocking Prestige Master status.
In order to prestige in Black Ops 6, you must reach level 55.
After you’ve hit level 55, a notification will appear on your screen asking if you want to prestige, allowing you to prestige immediately. However, since prestiging is a manual process, you can wait if you prefer.
How to prestige in Black Ops 6
To prestige in Black Ops 6, you must first reach level 55 in either Multiplayer or Zombies mode. Once you hit this milestone, a prompt will appear, giving you the option to prestige. Accepting this will reset your player level back to one and relock most weapons, perks, and equipment, though you’ll keep your weapon attachments, camos, and any permanent unlocks you’ve earned, such as blueprints or operator skins. Your loadouts will also be reset, but you won’t lose progress on weapon XP or challenge unlocks, and any cosmetic rewards or items unlocked via the store or battle pass remain available. Each time you prestige, you earn a new prestige icon, special cosmetic rewards, and a permanent unlock token, allowing you to keep one item of your choosing through all future resets. You can repeat this process up to ten times, eventually unlocking Master Prestige, which opens up an additional 1,000 levels to grind and exclusive rewards.
When you are ready to prestige in Black Ops 6, follow these steps:
- Select the “Barracks” tab in the main menu of Black Ops 6 multiplayer.
- Click the “Progression” button.
- Choose the “Prestige” option in the middle of the screen.
- Hover over your available prestige level and hold down the associated “Prestige Details” button.
- Continue to the next screen and hold down the button to reset your level and enter prestige.

What changes when you prestige
When you prestige in Black Ops 6, your player level resets to 1 and all level-based unlocks-such as weapons, perks, and equipment-are relocked, requiring you to unlock them again as you level up. Your custom loadouts are also reset, but you do not lose your weapon progression, camos, reticles, weapon builds, challenge progress, store and Battle Pass content, operator and emote unlocks, or Zombies GobbleGums. Additionally, you receive a unique Prestige icon, new cosmetic rewards, and a permanent unlock token that lets you keep one item of your choice available regardless of future resets. Your lifetime stats remain accessible in the Combat Record, but your visible stats elsewhere will reflect only your current Prestige. Each Prestige level also brings exclusive rewards and cosmetic items, providing ongoing incentives to continue progressing through the system.
Prestige functions similarly to previous Call of Duty titles where you’ll lose a lot of your progression for a new emblem, but you can keep some of your progression in Black Ops 6.

After you prestige in Black Ops 6, the following changes will occur:
- Reset back to level 1
- All level unlocks will be locked (except for base operators, emotes, zombie gobblegums, and permanent unlocks)
- Loadouts will be reset
- Combat stats will be reset to reflect your current prestige level (lifetime stats can be viewed in the Combat Record)
The following items will not be reset:
- Weapon progression, camos, and reticles
- Weapon builds
- Challenge progress and unlocks
- Store and Battle Pass content
- Operator and emote unlocks
- Zombie Gobblegums
Black Ops 6 prestige reward emblems
Black Ops 6 features a robust prestige reward system centered around exclusive emblems that visually showcase a player’s dedication and progress. Each of the 10 prestige levels unlocks a unique emblem, allowing players to display their current rank with pride in multiplayer lobbies and on their profile. Upon reaching Prestige 1, players immediately receive a distinctive Prestige 1 icon, which is prominently displayed next to their level insignia for all to see. As players continue to prestige, new emblems are awarded at each subsequent level, with the designs thematically inspired by iconic moments and titles from the Black Ops series. Once players achieve Prestige Master by reaching Prestige 10, they can climb up to level 1,000, unlocking even more prestigious rewards, including access to a vast collection of Legacy Prestige icons from previous Call of Duty games-culminating in over 100 emblems, with the rarest reserved for the most dedicated players. These emblems serve not only as status symbols but also as motivation to continue progressing through the game’s extensive prestige system.

Once you prestige in Black Ops 6, you’ll earn rewards inspired by previous Black Ops titles. For example, the first prestige is based on Call of Duty: World At War, and features a zombie operator.
There are a total of ten base prestige levels, with two bonus prestiges for the dedicated Call of Duty players. Each prestige level will have six rewards (except for Prestige 1, which has seven):
- One Permanent Unlock
- Loading screen and social wallpaper
- GobbleGum pack
- Animated emblem
- Charm
- Blueprint or Operator skin
The Permanent Unlocks are given to you immediately after you prestige and allow you to permanently unlock a single item of your choice. For example, if you permanently unlock the AS VAL, you can use it at level one rather than reaching level 55 again.
The other five rewards will be distributed to you every ten levels (level 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50), and will always be in the order of loading screen, GobbleGum pack, animated emblem, charm, blueprint/operator skin.
To see what the rewards look like, you can check them out in the Prestige section in Black Ops 6, or check out the gallery below.

If you’ve completed all ten prestiges, you’ll become a Prestige Master, which has the ability to reach level 1,000 and unlock even more rewards, such as prestige icons from previous Call of Duty titles, operator skins, and weapon blueprints.
If you reach level 1,000, you’ll become a Prestige Legend, which will provide you with a Samuels operator skin, loading screen, weapon upgrade GobbleGum pack, emblem, spray, and a PP-919 weapon blueprint. All of the rewards can be seen in this YouTube video from MrDalekJD.
