Unearth a powerful secret early in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree-right at the heart of the Scorched Ruins lies the elusive Blade of Mercy talisman. This spectral dagger, steeped in dark lore and broken yet potent, boosts your attack power after every critical hit, making it a must-have for any fierce warrior seeking to dominate the Shadow Realm. Ready to sharpen your build? Here’s exactly where and how to claim this game-changing artifact.
It’s a talisman that raises attack power after each critical hit, making it useful for anyone with a playstyle or build centered around critical attacks, especially as – like anything else you’ll find in the DLC – you can take it back to the main game to tick off anything you’ve missed in the Lands Between.
Our Elden Ring guide explains where to find the Blade of Mercy location in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Where to find the Blade of Mercy location
The Blade of Mercy talisman in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree can be found early in the DLC at the Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain. From the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace, head northeast into the ruins, then ascend the stairs inside a crumbled building on the left. Make your way across rooftops and balconies, overcoming minor enemies, until you reach a narrow tower with a closed door at the top. Inside the treasure chest behind this door lies the Blade of Mercy, which boosts your attack power after each critical hit, making it a valuable item for melee and critical-hit-focused builds.
To find the Blade of Mercy in the Elden Ring DLC, you’ll want to visit the Scorched Ruins, which is the very first settlement you’ll encounter in the opening Gravesite Plain area.

Approach the Ruins from the south via the road that cuts through the settlement, and just before you go through the archway and out the other side, go left into the settlement and through an opening surrounded by rubble, where you’ll find a staircase.

Go up the stairs, out to the balcony, and through the destroyed wall above where two enemies are waiting.

Vanquish them or run past them – it’s up to you – and climb another set of steps to emerge outside again.
Run straight ahead, across the roof covered in cloth, and enter the doorway to your left.

Open the door, and inside will be a chest containing the Blade of Mercy.

Could the Blade of Mercy turn my critical hits into game-changers in Elden Ring
Yes, the Blade of Mercy talisman in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree can indeed turn your critical hits into game-changers by raising your attack power by 20% for 20 seconds after each critical hit, such as a backstab or parry riposte. This buff does not stack with multiple critical hits but refreshes the duration, providing a sustained damage boost that greatly benefits builds focused on critical attacks, especially those using daggers or backstab-heavy strategies. It is particularly effective in boss fights and crowd control scenarios where landing critical hits can trigger this powerful damage increase.
How much can the attack boost from Blade of Mercy influence my critical damage
The Blade of Mercy talisman in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises your attack power by 20% for 20 seconds after landing a critical hit, effectively boosting all damage dealt during that period, including subsequent critical hits. Since critical damage in Elden Ring is a multiplier of your weapon’s base attack-often around 4x for daggers like the Blade of Mercy weapon itself-this 20% attack boost increases the base damage that the critical multiplier applies to, resulting in a significant overall damage increase. For example, if your dagger’s critical damage multiplier is approximately 5.2x (including the weapon’s critical stat), the 20% attack boost effectively amplifies that critical hit damage by 20%, making your critical hits notably stronger during the buff duration. This makes the talisman especially valuable for builds focused on frequent critical hits, such as backstab or parry-heavy playstyles.
