Dive in and dress your Gestral for success!

Monoco is the resident Gestral of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 party. He joins the team relatively late, but once he’s there, he brings a sort of unique whimsy to the team. One of the best things you can pair with a killer personality and sense of humor is the right clothing and accessories. Since Monoco joins so late into the game, he doesn’t have as many outfits for you to play around with; however, that doesn’t mean he suffers any lack of style. Monoco’s outfits are few and far between, but they get the job done.

Once you have Monoco in your party, there won’t be much story left, so it’s essential to keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to go off the beaten path and hunt down his wardrobe. By the time you reach the later stages of Expedition 33, you should be aware of where potential outfits could lie, such as behind a Mime or after a platforming challenge.

In this Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 guide, we provide a list of all Monoco outfits and hairstyles, along with instructions on how to unlock them.

All Monoco outfits in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Monoco, the last recruit in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has a unique but limited wardrobe featuring seven outfits. These include the default Expedition outfit, DLC-exclusive Gommage and Flowers suits, and unlockable sets like the Swimsuit earned through a platforming challenge, Lumiere obtained after interacting with a Gestral in the Flying Casino, Civilian available for purchase after defeating certain enemies, and Pure sold by a merchant in the Continent area. Despite the relatively small selection, each outfit adds distinctive style to Monoco’s playful and charismatic presence in the game, making exploring and collecting them a rewarding part of the adventure.

There are only seven outfits you can unlock for Monoco. We’ve only unlocked four so far, but through the help of community sources, we can confirm the methods to unlock the remaining three. Included above are screenshots of the Monoco outfits we’ve unlocked, and below, an asterisk (*) will indicate the missing three.

All Monoco hairstyles in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Monoco has a total of five distinct hairstyles in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, each with unique unlock methods. The default “Monoco” hairstyle is available from the start, while the “Bald” style is earned by defeating the Mime in the Sunless Cliffs using Monoco. The “Viking” haircut requires reaching relationship level 3 with Monoco and choosing the “Fine” response during a specific dialogue. The “Pure” style can be purchased from the Lucaroparfe merchant in the Chromatic Petank area for 2,000 Chroma. Finally, the “Flowers” haircut is an exclusive reward included with the Deluxe Edition of the game.

There are even fewer Monoco hairstyles for Monoco enjoyers to enjoy, with a whopping. (wait for it.) five hairstyles available. We have unlocked three of them throughout our time with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but with the help of the community, we were able to confirm how to unlock the remaining two that we were missing. We’ve included screenshots of the Monoco haircuts we’ve unlocked so far, and added an asterisk (*) below to indicate those not pictured.

Here’s how you unlock the following Monoco hairstyles in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33:

  1. Bald* – Beat the Mime in Sunless Cliffs as Monoco.
  2. Viking – Reach relationship level 3 with Monoco and select “Fine” when you’re able to during the dialogue.
  3. Pure – Purchased from Lucaroparfe the Merchant in the Chromatic Petank area on the far east side of the world map.
  4. Monoco – Available from the beginning of the game.
  5. FlowersHaircut* – Included with the Deluxe Edition of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Which Monoco outfit is the rarest to unlock in Expedition 33

The rarest Monoco outfit to unlock in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 appears to be the Swimsuit outfit. It requires completing a challenging “Only Up”-style platforming climbing challenge located at a Gestral Beach near Monoco’s Station. This outfit is noted as somewhat hidden and involves reaching the top of this climbing course where Gestrals are dancing, making it less straightforward than buying or simple quest completion outfits.

Additionally, some other rare outfits include the Civilian and Pure outfits, which require either purchasing from merchants that are in harder-to-reach locations or completing specific tasks involving flying and exploration, but the Swimsuit outfit’s platforming challenge likely makes it the rarest due to difficulty and the specialized nature of the unlock.

Furthermore, the Gommage and Flowers suits are Deluxe Edition DLC exclusives and thus rare in terms of availability, but not gameplay challenge.

In summary, for pure gameplay challenge rarity, the Swimsuit outfit is the rarest to unlock among Monoco’s outfits.

What is the most challenging location to find the rarest Monoco outfit in Expedition 33

The most challenging location to find the rarest Monoco outfit, the Swimsuit outfit, in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is at a Gestral Beach west of Monoco’s Station. This location hosts an “Only Up”-style platforming climbing challenge, where players must reach the top of the course to find a group of Gestrals dancing. At the top, you take a nearby staircase and talk to the Gestral to unlock the Swimsuit outfit. The platforming nature and the hidden aspect of this place make it the most challenging to reach for this rare outfit.
