Dune Awakening plant fiber farming guide and locations for efficient resource gathering

Guides

Desperate for survival on Arrakis? Before you even dream of crafting a Stillsuit or patching up wounds, you’ll need to track down one of Dune: Awakening’s most vital-and elusive-resources: plant fiber. Hidden at the edges of rocky outcrops and constantly shifting with the desert winds, these humble bushes could be the key to your endurance, if you know exactly where to look and how often to return.

Finding plant fiber locations in Dune: Awakening is essential during every stage of your adventure, but particularly in the first few main story quests. You’ll need plant fiber to craft healing bandages and clothes, including your first Stillsuit, among other things, and you need it in large quantities. It sounds cumbersome, but Dune: Awakening’s generous respawn times and resource mapping mean that, once you know where to look, you’ll be able to find all you need and then some without much hassle.

Below, we explained where to find plant fiber locations in Dune: Awakening and how to spot them using the survey probe’s mapping tool.

Plant fiber locations in Dune: Awakening

Plant fiber in Dune: Awakening is most reliably found near the edges of rocky formations rather than on open sand or solid rock. Early in the game, the most productive spots are the two rocky areas southwest of the Alcyon wreck and to the west of the Trials of Alq. In these locations, clusters of bushes-sometimes referred to as “Brittle Bush”-can be harvested for plant fiber, with the southern outcrop in particular containing abundant resources alongside landmarks like a moisture-sealed cavern and a scavenger camp. These bushes respawn quickly, typically every 30 seconds, making it efficient to cycle between them. Resource nodes revealing plant fiber locations will also appear on your map after deploying a survey probe, but you may need to search around the indicated area to find the exact bushes. In addition, plant fiber can occasionally be looted from scavengers or their storage containers, though shrub harvesting remains the most consistent method.

Plant fiber locations, like all resource locations, change every week when the Coriolis Storm sweeps through and shakes up everything in the desert. However, there are a handful of areas where you can almost always find the bushes that yield plant fiber.

The general guidance is “look for rocky locations,” but in our experience, that’s only half true. In the starting area, for example, the rocky area where you complete the first story trial had no plant fiber bushes before or after the first Coriolis Storm blew through.

Your best bet early on is in the two rocky areas southwest of the Alcyon wreck and west of the area where you undergo the Trials of Alq. There’s a small cluster of bushes yielding plant fiber around the northern outcrop, but even more around the southern one, where you’ll also find a moisture-sealed cavern and a scavenger’s camp inside.

The shrubs where plant fiber comes from respawn after roughly 30 seconds of real-world time, so once you exhaust all the available fiber in an area, don’t waste time and resources trying to track down more unless you have business somewhere else. Just grab other items in the nearby vicinity, circle back to the plants, and pick up some more fiber after it respawns.

Scavengers will occasionally have plant fiber on them that you can loot after battle, and the storage containers in scavenger camps sometimes include plant fiber as well. The chance of plant fiber showing up on a scavenger or in their camp seems random, though, so your best bet for finding it is checking and re-checking shrubs.

A little ways into the Touch of Civilization main story quest, you’ll need to craft and fire a survey probe to map the nearby area. Resource nodes will show up on your map once you survey an area, and the one that denotes plant fiber is a little bundle of sticks called “Brittle Bush.” Note that these icons are more like reference points telling you that an item is in the general area. They don’t actually show exactly where the resource in question is, so you might need to do some scavenging.

Where are the hidden hotspots for abundant plant fiber in Dune Awakening

The most reliable hidden hotspots for abundant plant fiber in Dune: Awakening are concentrated in a few key locations:

  • Southwest of the Alcyon Wreck: This area features two rocky outcrops.

    • Northern outcrop: Contains decent clusters, usually three to five bushes, with quick respawn times, though there are nearby scavenger patrols to watch for.

    • Southern outcrop: This has more plentiful spawns and a moisture-sealed cavern nearby, which can be looted between harvest runs. The scavenger camp here may also have crates with plant fiber, though the contents are random.

  • West of the Trials of Alq Site: This area holds several fiber-rich shrubs in a rocky depression. The density is inconsistent after a storm reset, but it’s recommended if you are already in the area for quests.

  • Hagga Basin South: Players report this as a practical farming loop where you can gather thousands of plant fiber in a short time by running loops across the rocky ground and edges.

General farming tips:

  • Focus on rocky outcrops and rock-strewn hills rather than sandy open ground; plant fiber does not spawn in the sand.

  • The bushes respawn rapidly-about every 30 seconds-so creating a short loop between these hotspots allows you to farm continuously.

  • Using a survey probe will map general plant fiber nodes (marked as “Brittle Bush”) in your area, but some exploration is still needed to pinpoint dense groups.

  • Occasionally, scavengers and their camps may drop or store plant fiber, but the primary reliable method remains gathering from bushes at the noted hotspots.

These locations are currently considered the most efficient and “hidden” sources for high-yield plant fiber farming, especially by veteran players. The plant fiber spots can shift with the weekly Coriolis Storm, so slight variation is possible over time, but these areas consistently produce abundant resources.

What makes the southwest of the Alcyon Wreck a reliable fiber hotspot

The southwest of the Alcyon Wreck is a reliable plant fiber hotspot in Dune: Awakening due to its combination of several closely clustered rocky outcrops, which are prime terrain for plant fiber bushes to spawn. Specifically:

  • The area features both a northern outcrop-with three to five bushes and fast respawn rates-and a southern outcrop-with even more plentiful spawns and a nearby moisture-sealed cavern for additional looting opportunities.

  • Spawns here are dense and respawn rapidly, typically around every 30 seconds, enabling players to efficiently farm by looping between the outcrops.

  • The landscape favors rocky ground and outcrops, which is essential for fiber growth (fiber does not spawn on open sand), making this area more consistent than wide sandy flats.

  • Extra resources can occasionally be collected from scavenger patrols and their camps, as they sometimes carry plant fiber, further increasing the yield potential.

These combined features-dense multi-outcrop clusters, fast respawns, supplementary loot sources, and topography-make the southwest of the Alcyon Wreck notably productive for plant fiber farming compared to more open or diffuse areas.
