How to get to the Special World in Super Mario Bros. Wonder
To get to the Special World in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you need to find and unlock one of the seven hidden Special World entrances scattered across the game’s six main worlds and the Petal Isles. Each entrance is accessed by discovering secret exits or completing specific challenges within certain levels, such as the secret exit in Bulrush Express in World 1 or completing special tasks in other worlds. Once you unlock a Special World entrance, you can enter through a propeller flower transporter that leads to a challenging Special World level. After beating the levels accessed by these entrances, bridges connect the different Special World areas, allowing further progression without needing to find additional secret exits.
Getting to the Special World means finding a propeller flower that will cart you off to a world made up of the hardest levels in the game. Each propeller flower leads to one level in the Special World but not to the rest of the Special World levels; think of Special World entrances as extensions of the base map.
There’s one Special World entrance in each of the six worlds plus on in the Petal Isles hub world – and they’re usually hidden. Here’s where to find every Special World entrance on all seven worlds in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, from W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau through the Petal Isles.
W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World entrance
The W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau Special World entrance in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is unlocked by finding the secret exit in the Bulrush Express level. To do this, players must complete the level while using the Elephant power-up to break through a series of bricks after the stampede section ends, revealing a hidden pipe that leads to the secret exit. Unlocking this exit opens a new path on the overworld map with additional levels, culminating in the Special World entrance at the top of the plateau. This entrance leads to the first Special World level, Pipe-Rock Plateau Special: Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, marking the start of the game’s toughest challenges.

The entrance to the Special World from W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau is actually hidden. To find the path to it, you’ll have to find the secret exit from Bullrush Express – which is also how you find the third Wonder Seed in that level.
The path that opens leads through Sproings in the Twilight Forest, Cosmic Hoppos, and Expert Badge Challenge: Jet Run 1.
This leads you to Pipe-Rock Plateau Special Bounce, Bounce, Bounce.
W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks Special World entrance
The Special World entrance in Fluff-Puff Peaks (World 2) of Super Mario Bros. Wonder is accessed by completing a series of specific challenges. Players should first claim the World’s Royal Seed, then return to the area just before the Fluff-Puff Peaks Flying Battleship. From there, head right and complete the levels “Jump! Jump! Jump!” and the Expert Badge Challenge “Spring Feet I.” Successfully finishing these stages will unlock the warp point leading to the Special World, which features some of the game’s toughest courses.

To reach the Special World from W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks, follow the path up from Jump! Jump! Jump! and past Expert Badge Challenge: Spring Feet 1.

W3 Shining Falls Special World entrance
The Special World entrance in World 3: Shining Falls in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is unlocked uniquely compared to other worlds. After completing the world and collecting its Royal Seed, players must return to the Royal Seed Mansion at the top of Shining Falls. Upon revisiting, the Poplin Master will recognize the player and offer a new challenge, opening a path to the Special World just to the left of the mansion. This unlocks access to the Special World starting with the level “Shining Falls Special Triple Threat Deluge,” providing players with a fresh set of difficult stages to conquer.

The entrance to the Special World from W3 Shining Falls is hidden when you first visit. To get it to open, visit the Royal Seed Mansion a second time.

W4 Sunbaked Desert Special World entrance
The Special World entrance in World 4, Sunbaked Desert, in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is unlocked by first finding the secret exit in the Secrets of Shova Mansion level. To access this exit, players must break a stack of brick blocks in the final room and push a tall green block into the hole created, which opens a pipe leading to an alternate ending. After completing this secret exit, players need to finish the Flight of the Bloomps course and complete the Invisibility I Expert Badge Challenge to reach the warp point that leads to the Special World entrance.

There’s a secret path in W4 Sunbaked Desert that leads to the Special World entrance. To unblock it, you’ll have to find the secret exit (and third Wonder Seed) in Secrets of Shova Mansion. After that, you’ll pass through Flight of the Bloomps and Expert Badge Challenge: Invisibility 1.

W5 Fungi Mines Special World entrance
To access the Special World entrance in W5 Fungi Mines in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, players must first complete the final course of the world, Operation Poplin Rescue, and obtain the Royal Seed. Afterward, replaying this level allows you to rescue the Poplins a second time, which opens a new path leading directly to the Special World. This new route serves as a gateway to the challenging levels of the Special World, starting with the Fungi Mines Special Dangerous Donut Ride.

The W6 Deep Magma Bog Special World entrance in Super Mario Bros. Wonder unlocks after collecting at least 25 Wonder Seeds in the Deep Magma Bog world. To access it, players must complete the Jet Run II Expert Badge Challenge along with the Invisibility II and Spring Feet II Expert Badge Challenges located on the bottom tier of the magma bog’s left side. Successfully finishing these challenges unlocks a new warp point in the far left corner of Deep Magma Bog, which leads directly to the Special World, starting with the level Deep Magma Bog Special: Solar Roller.

This entrance to the Special World from W6 Deep Magma Bog isn’t hidden, but you will have to collect at least 25 Wonder Seeds in the Deep Magma Bog before you can reach it. With 25 seeds, you can unlock Expert Badge Challenge: Jet Run 2. That leads to Expert Badge Challenge: Invisibility 2 and Expert Badge Challenge: Spring Feet 2. After those levels, you’ll find the entrance to the Special World.

Petal Isles Special World entrance
The Petal Isles Special World entrance in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is accessed by completing the challenging Wiggler Race level called “Spelunking!” located near the entrance to Deep Magma Bog (World 6). After finishing this race, a new path opens up that connects back to World 1, revealing the entrance to the Special World at the Petal Isles. This entrance leads to the special course “Way of the Goomba,” marking the hub’s secret gateway to the toughest levels in the game.

The entrance to the Special World from the Petal Isles is the most obvious one. You’ll walk right past it as you enter the Petal Isles from Pipe-Rock Plateau.
What secret paths lead to Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s hidden challenges
The secret paths leading to Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s hidden challenges are accessed through seven distinct Special World entrances, each tied to a different main world in the game:
-
World 1: Pipe-Rock Plateau – Break through a brick wall near the end of the level “Bulrush Coming Through” to trigger a Bulrush stampede that leads to a secret exit and unlocks stages like “Sproings in the Forest” and “Cosmic Hoppos,” eventually revealing the Special World warp point.
-
World 2: Fluff-Puff Peaks – Complete the tricky course “Jump! Jump! Jump!” and the Spring Feet 1 badge challenge to access a new cloud area that serves as the second Special World entrance.
-
World 3: Shining Falls – After clearing World 3, revisit the Royal Seed Mansion where Master Poplin opens a new trail to a Special World warp point.
-
World 4: Sunbaked Desert – Beat “Secrets of Shova Mansion,” then complete “Flight of the Bloomps” and the Expert Badge Challenge “Invisibility 1” to unlock the Special World warp point.
-
World 5: Fungi Mines – Return to “Operation Poplin Rescue” to have Poplin allies dig out the fifth Special World entrance.
-
World 6: Deep Magma Bog – Collect 25 Wonder Seeds across the area’s levels to gain access to the Expert Badge Challenge “Jet Run 2.” Completing this and other badge challenges reveals the Special World entrance.
-
World 7: Petal Isles – Beat the “Wiggler Race: Spelunking” level to unlock the final Special World entrance near the first stage on the Petal Isles map.
Additionally, several secret exits scattered throughout levels involve finding hidden flagpoles, breaking blocks, or activating Wonder Flowers, which lead to extra Wonder Seeds, new stages, or warp pipes that connect to these Special World entrances. These secret paths provide access to some of the game’s toughest and most rewarding challenges.
Which secret exit in World 1 unlocks the first Special World stage
The secret exit in World 1 that unlocks the first Special World stage is found in the level Bulrush Express. To access it, you need to use the Elephant Power-Up to break through a brick wall near the end of the level after collecting the Wonder Seed. Instead of going up the visible pipe on the left, you must smash the bricks and enter a hidden pipe behind them. This leads to a secret exit flag, which, once activated, opens a new path on the world map. Clearing the subsequent three new levels will then reveal the Special World warp point, starting with the stage “Pipe-Rock Plateau Special Bounce, Bounce, Bounce”.
