Hytale Copper Locations Guide Crafting Copper Ore and Ingots

Guides

Copper hides beneath Hytale’s rugged terrain, waiting for sharp-eyed explorers to claim it. Whether you’re mining deep within dark caverns or scouring rocky hillsides, finding this gleaming metal can make or break your crafting ambitions. Here’s how to locate and gather copper before your rivals strike first.

How to find copper ore in Hytale

Copper ore appears as shiny brown protrusions on cave walls and ceilings in Hytale. Enter natural caves through chasm-like openings visible on the map or find mineshafts near pits to reach these areas quickly. Use a crude pickaxe to mine the ore from stone, with each rock dropping two pieces. Check zones like Emerald Winds and Howling Sands where copper spawns commonly alongside iron.โ€‹

In Hytale, copper ore is found in caves. When you see a shiny, brown, rectangular growth on a cobblestone block, equip your pickaxe (a crude pickaxe will do) and hack away; before long, the stone will break, and you can pick up the copper ore.

While exploring cave systems in the dark, nearby copper ore gives off a faint shimmer, so be on the lookout for that. Be sure to check the cave’s ceiling, too, as there’s usually some copper there. You may even find some copper just outside the cave, but it’s quite rare.

If you’re having trouble finding caves in Hytale, it’s helpful to open your map and look for cave-like structures. Anything that looks like a small chasm has a good chance of being a cave entrance. On this map, for example, the following areas all turned out to be cave entrances leading to copper:

Alternatively, you can also find a mineshaft that will lead you directly into a cave system. Mineshafts can come in all shapes and sizes, and they’ll vary depending on what environment you’re in. However, an easy way to spot one on the map is to look for a building directly next to a hole. Additionally, they’ll always have minecarts and railroads around the building.

How to craft copper tools and armor in Hytale

Copper tools and armor in Hytale represent early-game upgrades crafted after smelting copper ore into ingots using a furnace. These require specific workbenches like the Workbench (Tier 1), Blacksmith’s Anvil, and Armorer’s Workbench, which you craft with copper ingots, logs, stone, and other basics.โ€‹

Required Workbenches

Craft the Armorer’s Workbench (2 copper ingots, 10 tree trunks, 5 stones) and Blacksmith’s Anvil (part of basic bench progression with 6 copper ingots total for benches). Upgrade the main Workbench to Tier 1 using 30 copper ingots and other materials for tool access. Place benches by right-clicking from your hotbar.โ€‹

Copper Tools Recipes

Use the Workbench or Anvil for these Tier 1 items:

Tool Materials Required Bench Required
Copper Pickaxe 3 copper ingots, 6 logs, 3 fibers Workbench Tier 1
Copper Hatchet 3 copper ingots, 6 logs, 3 fibers Workbench Tier 1
Copper Sword 4 copper ingots, 4 logs, 3 fibers Blacksmith’s Anvil
Copper Mace 6 copper ingots, 10 logs, 2 fibers Blacksmith’s Anvil

Copper Armor Recipes

Craft at the Armorer’s Workbench (Tier 1):

Armor Piece Materials Required
Copper Helm 6 copper ingots, 2 plant fibers
Copper Cuirass 11 copper ingots
Copper Gauntlets 5 copper ingots, 1 plant fiber

Progression Tips

Gather 12-50 copper ingots total for a full set of tools, weapons, armor, and benches. Repair gear later with kits made from linen scraps and iron. These upgrades improve mining speed and combat effectiveness before advancing to iron.โ€‹

Where to find copper ore in Hytale

Copper ore in Hytale is primarily found underground in caves across multiple biomes, appearing as brown, rectangular protrusions on stone walls or ceilings. A basic pickaxe, such as the starting crude one, suffices for mining, with each deposit yielding about two ore pieces.โ€‹โ€‹

Best Locations

Focus on caves in the starting Emerald Wilds (Zone 1 forest biome), where copper is abundant alongside iron. It’s also common in Howling Sands (Zone 2 desert caves, especially south), Desert biomes on sandstone cliffs, and even Snow biome cliffsides or various caves.โ€‹

Mining Tips

Locate cave entrances as chasms on the map or dig downward a few levels from the surface-copper spawns shallow, not deep. Bring torches for visibility, a horse for transport, and chests to store hauls safely; mine in rotations to avoid overload. Surface spots exist rarely near hills, but caves yield far more reliably.โ€‹โ€‹
