Uncover every hidden energy tank across the shadows of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, where each chest hides a piece of the storm’s power.
Fury Green energy tanks
Fury Green energy tanks are hidden within the dense vegetation of the planet’s equatorial zones, protected by aggressive fauna and shifting energy barriers. Players must use precise timing and advanced mobility upgrades to reach them, as most are placed behind environmental hazards or guarded by high-level enemies. Collecting these tanks not only extends Samus’s durability but also enhances her suit’s resistance to bio-energy attacks common in these regions.
You’ll get one of Fury Green’s tanks early on, but the second is out of reach until much later in the game.
Cliffside Gate

After acquiring the Psychic Glove, use it to unlock the psychic box in Cliffisde Gate, wherein you’ll find an energy tank.
Sacred Flame Ceremony

Once you acquire all three elemental shots, return to this room and complete all the puzzles. You’ll get a shot expansion for each one, and the statue at the far end of the chamber produces an energy tank from. somewhere.
Volt Forge energy tanks
The Volt Forge energy tanks are hidden among the molten machinery and electrical conduits deep within the industrial complex. Players need to activate the power nodes to move heavy platforms and access upper levels where the tanks are stored. Keep an eye on breakable panels and hidden vents-some tanks are tucked behind steam valves that can only be opened after rerouting the main circuit. Timing and observation are key to claiming every upgrade in this area.
The good thing about Volt Forge’s energy tanks is that they’re unmissable. You’ll get one after defeating a Sylux-imitation robot, which happens twice, once on your first visit to the region and then again after you acquire the grapple beam on your way to get the Thunder Shot.
Flare Pool energy tanks
Flare Pool energy tanks provide a compact reserve of energy recovered from environmental sources, designed to supplement the main power supply during extended exploration and combat in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
One of the energy tanks in Flare Pool is impossible to get until after you defeat the region’s boss and return.
Storage Room

The storage room is directly next to the Overseer’s Room, where you can get a missile expansion once you have the psychic lasso. Anyway, on a plinth behind the morph ball elevator in the storage room is a psychic box. Trace the pattern to unlock it and get your tank.
Volcano Heart

After defeating Pheneros, return to the facility’s center on your Vi-O-La IC bike. Break the crate in the spot shown above to reveal an energy tank – which an enemy promptly steals. Chase it around the room, using the bike’s lock-on shot when you get close enough, and it’ll drop the tank upon defeat. The process is. tedious, but you can replenish the bike’s boost meter if you defeat the green enemies that pop out of the lava.
Ice Belt energy tanks
Located in the frozen Ice Belt, this energy tank sits atop a high icy ledge accessible after activating the nearby thermal vents. Players reach it by using the Space Jump Boots to cross narrow gaps over bottomless chasms, then breaking through a wall of brittle ice with charged beams. Scan the area first to spot the hidden alcove behind the waterfall, grab the tank to boost your health, and backtrack carefully to avoid slipping on the slick surfaces.
The Ice Belt is also home to an energy tank you can’t get until you have the grapple beam.
Power Generator

After restoring power to the generator, look down and to your right. Interact with the panel to open a passageway, follow it down, clear the debris in front of the morph ball tunnel, and roll through to the other side, where you’ll find an energy tank.
Ice Canyon

With grapple beam in hand, swing across the frigid abyss to claim this energy tank.
Great Mines energy tanks
The Great Mines hide two energy tanks deep within their metallic tunnels. One is found near the central drill site, behind a cracked wall that requires a missile to break open. The second sits on a storage platform guarded by Space Pirates equipped with heavy plasma weapons. Scanning the mining machinery nearby can reveal a shortcut path back to the surface once both tanks are secured.
The second tank in the Great Mines is a bit of a nuisance to reach, and you can’t get it until you acquire the power bomb.
Level 2 Mine Shaft

Use the scan visor to manifest psychic platforms near the bridge, and hop across them to reach the tank.
Level 3 Chasm Tunnel

This one is in the area the driller demolished during your first visit, and it’s inaccessible if you try to reach it via the elevator. Head back to Level 2, and take the tunnel down through the mines again until it drops you into Level 3. You’ll hit a fork where you can turn left (but don’t turn left) or face an apparent dead end with a sturdy membrane blocking your progress. Drop a power bomb to burst the membrane, and you’ll enter a room with a morph ball tunnel. Roll into it, and use the Psychic Spider Ball and the Boost Ball’s speed to work your way to the top of the room. Remember to use standard bombs or power bombs to remove obstacles and defeat enemies while in ball form.
Sol Valley energy tanks
Sol Valley hides several energy tanks among its sunlit cliffs and overgrown ruins. One can be found near the geothermal vents at the canyon base, requiring careful platforming across rising heat plumes. Another lies inside an abandoned research outpost, behind a series of cracked walls that can only be broken with the Morph Ball’s bomb upgrade. Exploring the upper ridge after lowering the solar panels also reveals a hidden alcove containing an extra tank for players who scan every terminal.
Technically, just one of these is in Sol Valley itself. The other two energy tanks are underground in shrines.
Ladder of Thought Shrine

After reaching the high ledge at the other end of this shrine’s main room, turn right before opening the door. Use the Fire Shot to burn away the cobwebs and reveal a morph ball tunnel. Hop into it. You’ll need to jump while in ball form, lay a bomb at the highest point of the jump, and jump again right before it explodes to get the extra height needed. Then you can scoop up the tank from the other side.
Entrance to the Ring of Thunder Shrine

Behind the shrine is a hatch you can use the Psychic Glove to open and reveal an energy tank. We didn’t check until after clearing the shrine, so you may need to finish the puzzle inside first before the hatch activates.

Which Energy Tanks need specific beam abilities to access
Several Energy Tanks in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond require specific beam abilities like Fire Shot or Thunder Shot for access, distinguishing them from those needing mobility upgrades or bombs. These are typically tied to environmental puzzles involving webs, locks, or mechanisms in areas such as Sol Valley shrines.โ
Fire Shot Requirements
The Ladder of Thought Shrine (Interior) tank demands Fire Shot to burn through obstructing webs, followed by Psychic pillar stacking and a Bomb Jump sequence. This mid-game collectible highlights elemental beam progression.โ
Thunder Shot Requirements
North of the Volt Forge entrance, Thunder Shot targets a specific tower mechanism to unlock the tank’s chamber. The Ring of Thunder Shrine (Exterior) also aligns with Thunder Shot access, per guide details on electrical barriers.โ
Other Beam Ties
While most tanks emphasize abilities like Psychic Grapple or Double Jump, no guides explicitly link Ice Beam or advanced beams like Plasma to tanks; Fire and Thunder suffice for beam-specific ones amid 14 total tanks.โ
Which Energy Tanks require the Grapple Beam
In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, two Energy Tanks specifically require the Grapple Beam (also called Psychic Grapple in some guides) for access, both located in the Ice Belt region.โ
Ice Belt Tanks
The Power Generator tank becomes reachable after rebooting the station: clear debris in a Morph Ball tunnel, but full access demands Grapple Beam to cross gaps post-reboot.โ
The Ice Canyon tank is obtained by using the Grapple Beam to swing across an icy chasm, a mid-game upgrade path tied to Thunder Shot progression.โ
Additional Context
Volt Forge’s second tank also uses Grapple Beam post-Sylux rematch in Power Core Tower 1, emphasizing its role in revisiting areas after ability acquisition.โ
