To claim the Wild Armor, you’ll chase rumors, risk your shield’s cooldown, and beat the clock between guarded temples and prowling cliffs.
All three pieces of the Wild Armor – the Cap of the Wild, Tunic of the Wild, and Trousers of the Wild – are found in the skulls of skeletons in the Depths. Be prepared to fight a few monsters: namely Horriblins that are hanging from the inner spine of the skeleton. You may also run into Gloom Hands (and thus, a Phantom Ganon), depending on which side you come at the various skeletons from. We were able to avoid some by using a Zonai hoverbike.
Cap of the Wild location
The Cap of the Wild is hidden inside a chest found at the top of the Forgotten Temple in the Hebra region. To reach it, follow the temple’s long halls filled with Guardians until you arrive at the large open chamber with sunlight streaming through the ceiling. The chest rests near the statue at the far end. Equip climbing or cold-resistant gear, as the area’s low temperature and steep cliffs can make the trip challenging.
The Cap of the Wild is in the northwest most part of the Depths, hiding in yes, a skeleton’s skull. They’re approximately at (-3956, 3721, -0859):

The closest Depths chasm entrance is sadly Hyrule Ridge Chasm, west of Runakit Shrine. We made a hoverbike using two fans and a steering device and just carefully floated up to the top, taking breaks at lightroots along the way. Both Muotue and Kato Lightroot seem equidistant away from the chest with the Cap of the Wild.
Technically speaking, the Rito Village Chasm is closer to the treasure chest, yes, but that chasm leads you to a closed off area. So don’t go down that one in hopes of being closer to the Cap of the Wild.
The cap starts at 4 defense before it’s upgraded.
Tunic of the Wild location
The Tunic of the Wild can be found inside the Thyphlo Ruins in the Great Hyrule Forest region. To reach it, you must complete the “The Forest Coliseum” challenge, where you face a powerful Lynel. After defeating the enemy, a chest will appear in the center of the arena containing the Tunic of the Wild. This piece offers balanced defense and becomes even stronger when upgraded at the Great Fairy Fountains.
The Tunic of the Wild is in the southwest most part of the map in a skeleton’s skull at the approximate coordinates (-4878, -3721, -0458):

Despite the fact that we had this entire part of the map illuminated, it was still pretty dark in this corner, so you may need to use brightblooms to light the way.
The closest chasm entrance to the Depths is East Gerudo Chasm, to the south of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, and the closest lightroot is Kasari Lightroot.
Just like the cap, the tunic also starts at 4 defense before it’s upgraded.
Trousers of the Wild location
The Trousers of the Wild sit inside a cave on the western face of Thyphlo Ruins, northwest of the Frost Gleeok arena in the Hebra Mountains. From the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower, glide northwest toward the coordinates -3778, 3189, 0384, then drop into the cave opening below a rock formation. Light your way with Brightbloom Seeds, defeat the ice Like Likes inside, and grab the trousers from the chest.
The Trousers of the Wild are in the Depths north of the Fire Temple. That said, you need some form of flame resistance in order to traverse this area, or Link will literally catch on fire from the boiling heat. (This can be obtained via an elixir or armor set.)
The Trousers of the Wild are in a chest at the head of this skeleton in the Depths, at approximately (1672, 3722, -0561):

The closest Depths chasm entrance is Drenan Highlands Chasm to the west of Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower and the closest lightroot is Kayam Lightroot.
Like the other pieces, the trousers start at 4 defense before any upgrades.
Wild Armor set bonus, effect, and upgrade costs
The Wild Armor set grants the Eye Guard ability at two pieces, letting Link see nearby Bubbulfrogs through walls, and the full three-piece bonus adds a stealth attack boost. Its passive effect heightens camouflage in wooded areas for easier enemy evasion. Defense upgrades cost 10 wildberries for โ 1 (3 defense), 15 for โ 2 (5), 25 for โ 3 (7), 30 for โ โ (10), plus Hinox teeth and horns progressing to โ โ โ (16) with Gleeok materials.
Individually, the pieces of the Wild Armor offers no buffs. However, once you upgrade each piece at least twice and wear the whole set together, you’ll get an Attack Up set bonus.
You can upgrade the armor set at Great Fairy Fountains, but the enhancement requirements – in short, a ton of dragon materials – vary depending on which piece you’re upgrading. The cap takes materials from Farosh, the electric dragon. The tunic uses material from Naydra, the ice dragon. The trousers use pieces from Dinraal, the fire dragon. You’ll need to hunt down and grab specific pieces from the flying dragons around Hyrule in order to fully upgrade the set.
The material costs are as follows:
- 1-star (7 defense): 10 acorns, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s scales, 10 rupees
- 2-star (12 defense): 5 courser bee honey, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s claws, 50 rupees
- 3-star (18 defense): 3 energetic rhino beetles, 5 shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s spike, 2 shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s fang, 200 rupees
- 4-star (28 defense): 3 star fragments, 2 Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s horns, 10 shards of Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal’s spike, 500 rupees
The total cost of upgrading all three pieces to max will be 6 dragon horns, 6 dragon scales, 6 dragon claws, 6 shards of dragon fang, 15 courser bee honey, 9 energetic rhino beetles, 45 shards of dragon spike, 9 star fragments, 30 acorns, and 2,280 rupees.
Where to find Wild Armor pieces locations
Wild Armor Overview
The Wild Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom consists of three pieces: Cap of the Wild, Tunic of the Wild, and Trousers of the Wild. Each piece starts with 4 defense and is found exclusively in the Depths, inside chests at the mouths of massive skeletal remains.โโ
Cap of the Wild Location
Head to the far northwest Depths at coordinates (3956, 372, -09), inside a skull near Muotue and Kato Lightroots. Enter via Hyrule Ridge Chasm west of Runakit Shrine; use a hoverbike for efficient travel.โ
Tunic of the Wild Location
Found in the southwest Depths at (-8000, -3721, -0458), within another skeleton skull-bring Brightbloom Seeds for visibility. Access through East Gerudo Chasm south of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, near Kasari Lightroot.โ
Trousers of the Wild Location
Located north of the Fire Temple at (1672, 372, -01) in a flaming skull chest; equip flame resistance like an elixir. Use Drenan Highlands Chasm west of Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower, closest to Kayam Lightroot.โ
Access Tips
Activate nearby Lightroots to reveal the map and ease darkness navigation. The set resembles Breath of the Wild’s Champion’s gear and unlocks attack boosts when fully upgraded at Great Fairy Fountains.โโ
Best route to collect all three Wild Armor pieces in one run
The Wild Armor pieces are all located in the Depths of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, inside chests at the heads of massive skeletal remains. A logical one-run route starts in the northeast Depths, moves southwest, then northeast again to minimize backtracking, using chasms for surface-to-Depths access and Lightroots for navigation and visibility.โ
Optimal Entry Point
Enter via Hyrule Ridge Chasm (west of Runakit Shrine) to reach the Cap of the Wild first at coordinates (3956, 372, -0909), near Muotue and Kato Lightroots. Activate Lightroots immediately for map reveal, then open the chest in the skull’s jaw for the Cap (base defense: 4).โ
Second Stop: Southwest Traverse
From the Cap, travel southwest across the Depths (use a hoverbike built from Zonaite devices for speed) to (-8000, -3721, -0458) near Kasari Lightroot. Enter the skull chest for the Tunic of the Wild (base defense: 4); stock Brightbloom Seeds to combat darkness.โ
Final Northeast Loop
Head northeast to (1672, 372, -010) via Drenan Highlands Chasm (west of Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower), stopping at Kayam Lightroot. Equip flame guard (elixir or armor) for the fiery skull chest containing the Trousers of the Wild (base defense: 4).โ
Efficiency Tips
Total distance is manageable in 20-30 minutes with good mobility; warp between activated Lightroots. Full set grants attack power bonuses when upgraded at Great Fairy Fountains.โโ
