Hidden deep beneath Hyrule’s surface lies the Miner’s Armor set, a glowing gear that turns darkness into your ally. Here’s how to track down each piece and power it up for stronger defense and brighter caves.
Miner’s Top location
The Miner’s Top can be found in the Hylia Canyon Mine, located deep within the Depths beneath Hyrule Field. To reach it, enter one of the nearby chasms such as the Hyrule Field Chasm, then head southwest through the tunnels filled with Gloom and enemies. Keep an eye out for Brightbloom Seeds to light your way and a chest resting on a stone platform that holds the armor piece. Bringing plenty of healing items and Gloom resistance will make the trip much safer.
The Miner’s Top is located to the west-southwest of Iayusus Lightroot in Daphnes Canyon Mine (which is directly underneath Mount Daphnes on the Surface).

There’s a whole structure there, but you’re looking for a chest at the very top. It’s under a small stone roof at (-1075, -0558, -0514).
Miner’s Trousers location
The Miner’s Trousers sit inside a cave at the Hebra Trailhead Well, coordinates (-3796, 3167, 0009). Drop down the well near the Hebra Mountains’ trailhead, then follow the path past the first group of Keese to a second chamber. Strike the cracked rocks blocking a small alcove on the right wall to reveal a chest containing the trousers.
Head to the west-southwest of Koradat Lightroot in the Hylia Canyon Mine.

From the natural bridge just south of Koradat Lightroot, paraglide down and to the west. You’ll find another ruin there. You’ll find the chest with the Miner’s Trousers along the southwest edge of the mine surrounded by poes at (-1287, -2250, -0707).
Miner’s Helm location
The Miner’s Helm can be found inside the Hylia Canyon Mine, located deep within the Depths beneath the Hyrule Field region. To reach it, enter the Depths through the Hills of Baumer Chasm and follow the lightroots until you reach the mine’s entrance. Inside the cavern, a chest containing the helm rests on a raised platform surrounded by glowing ore deposits and enemy constructs, so prepare for a short fight before claiming it.
You’re looking for the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine just a little northeast of Tatayam Lightroot (and a bit west of the Great Abandoned Central Mine).

Turn to the northeast from the lightroot, and the chest containing the Miner’s Helm is in the center of the circular ruins directly ahead of you at (-3230, -2476, -0475).
Miner’s Armor upgrade costs, set bonus, and effect
Upgrading the Miner’s Armor set requires Glowing Cave Fish and Brightbloom Seeds, which can be found in caves across Hyrule. Each piece can be enhanced by the Great Fairies to increase defense and improve your visibility in dark areas. When worn as a full set, the armor grants a glow effect that illuminates Link’s surroundings, making exploration in the Depths far easier. The higher the upgrade level, the longer and brighter the glow effect lasts.
When equipped individually, the armor gives you a stacking glow buff, lighting up the area around you. When you upgrade all the pieces to at least two-stars or more and equip them, you’ll get a Shining Steps set bonus, leaving small lit-up puddles where you walked.

You’ll be able to upgrade the pieces of the Miner’s Armor at a Great Fairy Fountain, in exchange for the following materials:
- 1-star (5 defense): 3 brightbloom seeds, 10 rupees
- 2-star (8 defense): 20 brightbloom seeds, 5 brightcaps, 50 rupees
- 3-star (12 defense): 15 giant brightbloom seeds, 5 glowing cave fish, 10 deep fireflies, 200 rupees
- 4-star (20 defense): 20 giant brightbloom seeds, 3 diamonds, 10 large Zonaite, 500 rupees
To fully upgrade this armor, you’ll need 69 brightbloom seeds, 105 giant brightbloom seeds, 15 brightcaps, 15 glowing cave fish, 30 deep fireflies, 9 diamonds, 30 large Zonaite, and 2,280 rupees.
How to upgrade the Miner’s Armor set at Great Fairies
Upgrading the Miner’s Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires unlocking Great Fairy Fountains and gathering specific materials.
Unlock Great Fairies
Start with the “Serenade to a Great Fairy” Side Adventure at Woodland Stable (south of Thyphlo Ruins). Use Ultrahand to attach a nearby carriage to the stable owner’s wagon, then escort musicians to the fountain at Woodland Stable to free Tera-this enables 1-star upgrades.
Unlocking more fairies (Mija at Snowfield Stable, Kaysa at Gerudo Canyon Stable, Cotera at Tarrey Town) via their “Serenade” quests progressively allows higher tiers: 2nd fairy for ★★, 3rd for ★★★, all 4 for ★★★★. All fairies share upgrade capabilities once unlocked; speak to any to access the menu showing eligible armor (highlighted if you have materials).
Upgrade Process
Approach a Great Fairy, select “Enhance Equipment,” choose a Miner’s Armor piece, pay rupees, and provide materials. Each piece upgrades independently from base (3 defense) to ★★★★ (20 defense); full set at ★★ unlocks Shining Steps (glowing footprints).
Miner’s Armor Materials (Per Piece)
| Tier | Key Materials | Rupees | Defense |
|---|---|---|---|

Where to find Great Fairies to unlock all upgrade levels
Great Fairy Fountains in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom unlock progressive armor upgrade tiers (★ to ★★★★) via the “Serenade to a Great Fairy” Side Adventures, starting with a visit to the Lucky Clover Gazette stable near Rito Village.
Unlock Sequence
Begin by speaking to reporter Trudy at Lucky Clover Gazette (-3251, 1772, 0118) to start quests. Find Stable Trotters musicians at stables, repair their broken wagon with Ultrahand, hitch it to a horse, and escort them uphill to each closed flower. Unlocking the first enables ★ upgrades across all fairies; each subsequent one advances tiers.
