How to use Upgrade Disks in Blue Prince
Upgrade Disks can be used at the Terminal to upgrade floorplans. The Terminal can be found in rooms such as the Office, and you can plug the Disks in to upgrade one of your rooms. The selection is random, but you’ll have the final say on the upgrades you want, as you’ll be presented with three choices, and you can opt for the one you want. Floorplan upgrades are permanent and will boost the function of a room, and the enhanced version will be available through all future drafts, helping you get more items and resources. The available upgrades will differ based on the room, and you can choose the boost you want to impart.
Once you find an Upgrade Disk, take the disk to a terminal in either the Security, Office, Laboratory, or Shelter to upgrade a room. The terminal will randomly select one of 15 rooms, and then you’ll choose between one of three upgrade options. These upgrades are permanent, and cannot be changed for a long time, so choose wisely!

How to change room upgrades in Blue Prince
To change room upgrades in Blue Prince, you need to acquire an Upgrade Disk from the Trading Post by trading expensive items from the Showroom, such as the Master Key, Emerald Bracelet, or Ornate Compass. Once you have the Upgrade Disk, bring it to any terminal in the mansion (found in rooms like the Laboratory, Office, or Security Room) and insert the disk. The terminal will randomly select one of your rooms to upgrade, allowing you to choose from three new upgrade options for that room. This process can be repeated to reroll room upgrades, but the room chosen is random, so it may take several attempts to get the desired upgrade.
Changing your room upgrade is possible, but it’ll require you to have all of your rooms already upgraded.
To change your room upgrade, you’ll first need to trade for an Upgrade Disk at the Trading Postagain – meaning you’ll need items from the Showroom. When trading Showroom items at the Trading Post, you’ll usually receive an Allowance Token, but there’s a chance to receive an Upgrade Disk instead.
Once you’ve received an Upgrade Disk from the Trading Room, insert the disk into a terminal to change a random room. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to select which room to change, but you’ll still be able to choose one of the three upgrade options.

Which hidden areas in Blue Prince hold the rarest Upgrade Disks
The rarest Upgrade Disks in Blue Prince are typically found in the game’s most secretive and challenging hidden areas, including:
-
Tomb: Requires a Burning Glass or Torch to light ruby-socketed candelabras, revealing a hidden nook with an Upgrade Disk.
-
Abandoned Mine: Located in the underground Torch Chamber, a secluded area accessible only after exploring the estate’s depths.
-
Trading Post #1: Involves lighting a stick of dynamite with a Burning Glass to uncover a concealed distillery where an Upgrade Disk rests atop a barrel.
-
Great Hall: Behind one of the seven locked doors, demanding lockpicks or keys to access this secured room.
-
Vault: Inside storage locker Vault 304, requiring Vault Keys to open and retrieve the disk.
These locations stand out because they require special items or actions-such as lighting torches, unlocking doors, or using keys-to access, making their Upgrade Disks rarer and more rewarding to obtain than those found in more straightforward spots like the Office desk or Garage trunk.
