Ready to discover where to find this key, how to use it, and what awaits beyond the garden gate? Let’s dive in.
How to find the Secret Garden Key in Blue Prince
The Secret Garden Key in Blue Prince is typically found by completing the dartboard puzzle in the Billiards Room, though it can also appear randomly in rooms like the Music Room, Locksmith shop, or in trunks and dirt piles. To use the key, you must draft rooms along the easternmost or westernmost edges of the mansion until you find a locked door. When prompted, select the Special Key option and choose the Secret Garden Key to unlock the door and gain access to the Secret Garden area, which is crucial for progressing toward Room 46.
We found the Secret Garden Key by completing the dart board puzzle in the Billiard Room. The day we found it, we drafted the room at Rank 6 on the eastern side of the house.
How to use the Secret Garden Key in Blue Prince
To use the Secret Garden Key in Blue Prince, first ensure you have obtained it-commonly found by completing the dartboard puzzle in the Billiard Room, drafting item-heavy rooms like the Closet or Attic, purchasing from the Locksmith, or finding it in the Music Room. Once you have the key, head to the outermost east or west side of the mansion where locked doors appear. When you encounter a locked door on these perimeter columns, select the option to use a Special Key and choose the Secret Garden Key. This will unlock the door and grant access to the Secret Garden, a unique area containing puzzles and a lever essential for progressing to the Antechamber and ultimately Room 46. The key only works on locked doors at the mansion’s edges, so using it elsewhere will have no effect.
In order to use the Secret Garden Key, you must find a locked door on the furthest east or furthest west side of the mansion.
Make your way to either side of the house, and continue to draft rooms until you find a locked door. (We went west and continued to draft north as much as our room options allowed us to.) Once you find a locked door, the game will give you the option to use a regular key (if you have one) or use a special key. Click the button that says “Special Keys” and choose the Secret Garden Key. The game will automatically draft and unlock the Secret Garden room.
According to the soil survey results we found in the Apple Orchard shed, the Rank 2 slot on the western side of the house has barren soil. We don’t know if this means that a Green Room (the type of room needed for the Secret Garden Key) won’t spawn there. However, it shouldn’t affect your run that much. You’re better off not drafting Green Rooms early on and instead focusing on drafting rooms that allow you to collect gems, keys, and food so you can make it to rooms with higher ranks.
