This page explains where to find the Excavation Site location and discovering the clues that follow.

How to find the Excavation Site in AC Mirage

To find the Excavation Site in Assassin’s Creed Mirage during the “Find the Missing Brother” quest, start by heading to the Oasis Viewpoint located southwest of Baghdad in the Wilderness district. From there, travel south toward the excavation area near the western coastline, marked on the Excavation Site Map you receive early in the quest. The site is guarded, so use stealth and your Enkidu ability to scout the area and locate key chests. The crucial chest containing the intel is hidden behind a movable shelf on the southern side of the site. Hiring mercenaries nearby can help distract guards, making it easier to investigate and progress in the quest.

As part of the “Find the Missing Brother” quest, you’ll given the following ’Excavation Site Map’ to help you find the location you’re looking for.

The Excavation Site location in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is just southwest of the city of Baghdad. As per the map, you’ll want to exit the Abbasiyah district and go across the desert dunes until you reach an oasis.

Upon arriving at this small body of water, you’ll notice a structure that you can climb, which also acts as a sync point/fast travel point. From there, continue heading southwest until you reach the Excavation Site.

Where to find the Missing Brother ’Investigate the site’ chest locations

To find the chest locations during the “Investigate the site” objective in Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s “Find the Missing Brother” quest, head to the Excavation Site southwest of Abbasiyah, near a small oasis in the Wilderness district. Once inside, use Eagle Vision to highlight key items and chests. The crucial chest you need is hidden in the southern part of the site, behind a movable shelf-move it aside to reveal and loot the chest containing the intel necessary to progress the quest. Other chests in the area hold useful resources, but only the one behind the shelf provides the clue to advance the investigation. Be cautious, as the area is heavily guarded; stealth tactics or hiring nearby mercenaries can help you avoid direct confrontation while searching for the chests.

Once you’re at the Excavation Site, the quest objectives will change, and you’re asked to look for clues hidden in chests. There are three in the area, and they’ll have an orange highlight if you ping the map:

  1. There’s one in the very center of the dig site. It’s placed on a wooden platform.
  2. Another can be found at the elevated section at the back, which has an armored guard.
  3. The third is in the southern corner of the site. You’ll need to move the shelf to find the chest. In our case, it’s also the container that had the next clue (more on this later).

Take note that this area has around half a dozen guards, though you should be able to eliminate most of them by way of skilful assassinations. If ever you’re worried, you can talk to the mercenaries near the entrance. Paying them one Power Token allows them to fight the guards if you get spotted.

From here, the note with the clue says that the missing person is in the Bimaristan, which is back in the Abbasiyah district. Continue tracking the quest so that the next tasks remain marked on your map.

How can I quickly locate the excavation site without a waypoint

To quickly locate the Excavation Site in Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s “Find the Missing Brother” quest without a waypoint, start by heading to the Oasis Viewpoint in the Wilderness district, southwest of Baghdad. From there, proceed southwest toward a small oasis area where the site is hidden. Look for a heavily guarded excavation surrounded by mercenaries and guards near this oasis. Using the Oasis Viewpoint as a landmark helps you orient yourself and find the site efficiently without relying on a waypoint.

Can I use environmental cues to find the excavation site quickly

Yes, you can use environmental cues to find an excavation site quickly. Archaeologists often rely on surface features such as unusual soil discolorations, vegetation patterns (like crop marks), and natural landmarks like creeks or oasis areas to identify potential excavation locations. For example, buried structures or ditches may affect plant growth, creating visible crop marks or soil marks that stand out from the surrounding area. Additionally, aerial reconnaissance using satellite images or drones can reveal shadows or shapes indicating buried features. On the ground, systematic surveys looking for artifact scatters or unusual ground textures also help pinpoint sites. These environmental indicators guide archaeologists in locating sites without immediate excavation.
