How to find Lost Pages in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Finding Lost Pages in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a key collectible activity tied to Temples scattered across Japan. To locate Lost Pages efficiently, approach any marked Temple-these are highlighted in orange on your world map-and play as Naoe, who excels at reaching rooftops and elevated spots with her grappling hook. Once inside the Temple grounds, use Naoe’s Observe ability (hold LT on Xbox or L2 on PlayStation), which highlights Lost Pages as white dots in your vision, making them much easier to spot even if they’re hidden on rooftops, behind structures, or atop pedestals. Some Temples may be guarded by Warrior Monks or Samurai, so be cautious and use rooftops for a safer approach. Collecting all Lost Pages in a Temple rewards you with a Knowledge Point, which can be used to unlock new abilities for your characters.

Lost Pages are found in the immediate surroundings of Temples, with each Temple housing anywhere from two and five pages (in our experience). Once you’ve collected all Lost Pages in the Temple, you’ll gain a knowledge point.

As you’d expect from a collectible in an Assassin’s Creed game, Lost Pages tend to be tucked in hard-to-reach places. Sometimes they’re behind buildings or on hidden pedestals. Other times they’re on rooftops – or even in trees.

Below, we’ve listed all Lost Pages in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, organized by province, in generally the order in which you go through these provinces for the main story. Note that we have not found any Temples in Iga, the province that serves as a location in Naoe’s backstory.

All Lost Pages in Izumi Settsu

In the Izumi Settsu region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can find Lost Pages across three main temples: Makinoodera, Gansenji, and Tennoji. Makinoodera Temple, located near the southern border between Izumi Coast and Kawachi Heights, contains three Lost Pages hidden within and around the temple grounds, including inside a walled area, near a stone lantern on a path, and in a ruined attic. Gansenji Temple, situated south of Sakai in Izumi Coast, holds two Lost Pages-one behind a rock near a well and another atop the largest building accessible by grappling hook. Tennoji Temple in Osaka offers three Lost Pages scattered around its grounds, including inside a log by a pool, in an attic, and in a small graveyard outside the main walls. Collecting all Lost Pages in each temple rewards players with Knowledge Points, aiding character progression early in the game.

Here’s an overview of all Lost Pages in the game’s starting region, Izumi Settsu. There are only three Temples with Lost Pages here: Gansenji Temple, Tennoji Temple, and Makinoodera Temple.

Gansenji Temple

Gansenji Temple, south of Sakai, is home to two Lost Pages.

  • Upon entering the complex through the front gate, the first Lost Page is on your right, behind the boulder.
  • The second is on the roof of the largest building.

Tennoji Temple

Southeast of Osaka, you’ll find the Tennoji Temple (same location as the viewpoint). There are three Lost Pages here.

  • As seen from the viewpoint, the first is next to the small pond in the northwestern corner.
  • The second one is just outside the walls in the northeast.
  • The third is within the walls on the east side, at the top of a damaged building.

Makinoodera Temple

The Makinoodera Temple is in the southern part of Izumi Settsu, southwest of Osaka and the Tennoji Temple. There are three Lost Pages here.

  • If you approach the complex from the northwest, take the path left of the massive building. You’ll find one Lost Page in the damaged building on the left
  • You’ll find another further ahead of you behind the stone pillar in the bushes.
  • Continue walking around the large building to the right, and you’ll see another damaged building; the third Lost Page is in the attic.

All Lost Pages in Yamashiro

In the Yamashiro province of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can find several Temples that house Lost Pages, each offering valuable Knowledge Points upon collection. Notable temples in Yamashiro include Ginkakuji Temple, where Lost Pages are hidden on rooftops and small islands within the temple grounds, requiring careful exploration and use of Naoe’s Observe ability to locate. These Lost Pages are often placed in elevated or secluded spots, such as tree branches or rocky islets, challenging players to thoroughly search the area. Collecting all Lost Pages in these temples not only rewards experience points but also contributes to unlocking new abilities through Knowledge Points, making the exploration of Yamashiro’s temples a rewarding endeavor for players seeking to enhance their skills.

Given that this region contains the city of Kyoto, which is littered with Temples, it’s perhaps no surprise that there are 10 Temples with Lost Pages in Yamashiro: Toji Temple, Tofukuji Temple, Honnoji Temple, Tenryuji Temple, Kiyomizudera Temple, Shokokuji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, Kuramadera Temple, and Byodoin Temple.

Toji Temple

The Toji Temple and its three Lost Pages are located in the southern part of Kyoto, not far north of Shoryuji.

  • The first page is ontop of the building in the west.
  • The second is on a tree branch in the north.
  • The third is in the middle of the pond.

Tofukuji Temple

The Tofukuji Temple, which lies southeast of Kyoto, contains three Lost Pages.

  • If you enter from the south, there’s one directly to your right, in the small pond behind the bridge.
  • Climb the building with the gate in the northeast to find the second page on the roof.
  • If you look toward the west from there, you’ll see a large bell ahead of you – the third Lost Page is behind it.

Honnoji Temple

The Honnoji Temple is situated in central Kyoto. There are four Lost Pages here.

  • If you enter through the southern gate, the first one will be on a damaged building to your right.
  • Proceed through the large central building and turn left; there’s another Lost Page in the dried-up pond.
  • The third Lost Page is on the rooftop of the large building in the north.
  • From there you can see the fourth Lost Page underneath an unscathed building in the east. (Beware that you’ll need to crawl under that final building to grab the page.)

Tenryuji Temple

The Tenryuji Temple and its three Lost Pages are situated between Kyoto and Arashiyama forest.

  • The first Lost page is on top of the large building in the southwest.
  • The second is on the highest floor of the watchtower in the north
  • The third is in the middle of the pond.

Kiyomizudera Temple

The Kiyomizudera Temple is situated southeast of Kyoto. You must find a total of three Lost Pages here.

  • One can be found on a tree branch next to a Buddha statue on the north side.
  • Another rests on the wooden fence in front of a building in the east.

  • Another is inside the building southeast of there.
  • The third Lost Page is on top of the building south of the viewpoint.

Kinkakuji Temple

If you follow the path north of Kyoto, it’ll lead you to Kinkakuji Temple. There are four Lost Pages to collect here.

  • If you enter through the main gate in the east, the first is on the ground next to the path.
  • The second is on the large building just behind the second (closed) gate.
  • The third Lost Page is in the middle of the lake.
  • The final Lost Page is in the tiny hut in the north, slightly uphill. Beware that this last one is easy to miss!

Ginkakuji Temple

The Ginkakuji Temple is situated near a lake, northeast of Kyoto. To find the two Lost Pages, stand with your back to the largest building and look towards the pond.

  • The first Lost Page sits on the boulder on the other side.
  • From there, cross the bridge to the left and look for the tree with the yellow markings; this is where you’ll find the other Lost Page.

Kuramadera Temple

The Kuramadera Temple is the northernmost temple in Yamashiro and houses two Lost Pages.

  • One is directly below the viewpoint (on the roof).
  • The other is next to a large tree, just south of the viewpoint.

Byodoin Temple

The Byodoin Temple, found in the Ogura Pond area, contains two Lost Pages.

  • The first is on the roof of the largest building (western peak).
  • The second is on the small wooden terrace further north.

All Lost Pages in Omi

In the Omi province of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can find the Miidera Temple, a significant location for collecting Lost Pages. This temple contains three Lost Pages scattered around its grounds, which players can locate using Naoe’s Observe ability that highlights these pages as white dots. The Miidera Temple is accessible from the Mouth of Seta area and is relatively safe, as it lacks patrolling enemies, making the search for Lost Pages easier compared to other temples. Collecting all three Lost Pages here rewards players with a Knowledge Point and experience, aiding in character progression.

More than in Izumi Settsu, but not as many as in Yamashiro, you can visit six temples with Lost Pages in the northeastern region: Miidera Temple, Enryakuji Temple, Isakiji Temple, Hogonji Temple, and Daikichiji Temple. Don’t miss the one situated on the small island in Lake Biwa.

Miidera Temple

In the Mouth of Seta, the southern part of Omi, you can find the Miidera Temple. Look for three Lost Pages here.

  • One is on the rooftop of the tall pagoda (largest building).
  • One is on top of the southernmost building.
  • One is on the ground, in the northernmost part of the temple grounds.

Enryakuji Temple

West of Sakamoto lies the Enryakuji Temple. You’ll find three Lost Pages here, but beware that this complex is much larger than other temples.

  • Upon arriving from the direction of Sakomoto, you’ll find the first Lost Page in the damaged attic, past the front gate and the first staircase.
  • Continue up the stairs to the highest part of the temple grounds, and you’ll find another Lost Page inside the tower on the left.
  • And another in the smaller ruin on the right.

Isakiji Temple

Isakiji Temple, located on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa, contains two Lost Pages.

  • One is hidden above the large gong (bell) at the heart of the temple grounds.
  • The other is on a boulder in the west, near the building closest to the lake.

Hogonji Temple

Hogonji Temple is built on the northernmost island within Lake Biwa. The two Lost Pages are on the rooftops of the two buildings west of the pagoda with the viewpoint.

  • The first building is tiny (you can jump down to the haystack next to it).
  • The other is the much larger one.

Daikichiji Temple

The Daikichiji Temple is found in the northeastern part of the map, not far from Nagahama. There are two Lost Pages here.

  • As you follow the path upwards, to the highest part of the temple, you’ll see a small ruin on the left; this is where you’ll find the first Lost Page.
  • When you reach the highest building, walk around it to the left and you’ll see a large tree; the second Lost Page is on one of its branches.

Sokenji Temple

The Sokenji Temple is located in Azuchi, on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa. Beware that you must complete Yasuke’s story quest ’Lords of Azuchi’ to unlock this temple. Once you’ve done that, you’ll find two Lost Pages to collect.

  • The first is on the bottom terrace surrounding the large pagoda (below the viewpoint).
  • The other is in a smaller building northeast of the first Lost Page. Walk to the backyard and look behind the altar.

All Lost Pages in Harima

In the Harima region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can find several temples housing Lost Pages, each containing two to three pages. Notable temples include Kyokaiji Temple in Kamakura Valley, where pages are found in the attic of a dilapidated building and behind a gear vendor; Aga Hontokuji Temple, with pages located halfway up the roof and on a large tree; Tanjosan Myoyoji Temple, a large hilltop complex with three pages scattered inside buildings and the courtyard; and Mitsunodo Hall near Himeji Castle, where pages are found inside a well-lit building and on a balcony. Collecting all Lost Pages in these temples rewards players with Knowledge Points, enhancing their abilities as they progress.

When you visit the relatively small region of Harima, on the west side of the map, be sure to stop over at the four temples with Lost Pages: Kyokaiji Temple, . With only two or three pages each, they’re not as daunting as some of the temples in other regions.

Kyokaiji Temple

The Kyokaiji Temple is located in the northeastern corner of Harima, in Kamakura Valley. There are two Lost Pages here.

  • The first is in the attic (or what’s left of it) of the large, run-down building directly below the Temple marker on the map.
  • The second is behind the gear vendor.

Aga Hontokuji Temple

The Aga Hontokuji Temple is located in the southwestern corner of Harima. It houses two Lost Pages.

  • The first is halfway up the roof of the largest central building.
  • The second is on the large tree in the western part of the temple.

Tanjosan Myoyoji Temple

The Tanjosan Myoyoji Temple is a large temple complex on top of a hill in the Warfields, east Harima. You can find three Lost Pages here.

  • The first Lost Page is inside the tallest building, on ground floor (below the viewpoint).
  • The second one is in a damaged building southwest of the viewpoint, down the stairs.
  • The third Lost Page is also on lower ground, but south of the viewpoint, on a table in a square courtyard, surrounded by red flags.

Mitsunodo Hall

The Mitsunodo Hall lies near the road north of Himeji Castle. You must collect two Lost Pages here.

  • One is in the well-lit building to the left as you enter the temple grounds.
  • The other is in the building ahead of you as you enter the temple. It’s on the balcony, right side.

All Lost Pages in Yamato

In Yamato province, Lost Pages are found within its temples, with each location typically containing two to four collectible pages-most notably at Nyoirinji Temple in Yoshino, which features three Lost Pages. The first is perched on the end of a gnarled tree at the Nyoirinji Falls Viewpoint, the second sits at the base of the spire on the western pagoda’s highest rooftop, and the third is located on a wooden platform atop a building directly west of the main temple structure. Collecting all Lost Pages in Yamato’s temples rewards you with experience and valuable Knowledge Points, making these minor activities well worth the effort.

Yamato, the region east of Izumi Settsu, has three temples with Lost Pages. While that number seems relatively low, beware that each of them comes with three to four Lost Pages per temple, so there’s still a fair bit of searching involved.

Todaiji Temple

The Todaiji Temple is the northernmost temple in Yamato. It’s also the largest, so it’s no surprise that you must find four Lost Pages here.

  • The first two are on the ground floor of the two massive pagodas on either side of the entrance (southeastern and southwestern corner of the temple grounds).
  • The third Lost Page is on a rock in the northern part of the gardens.
  • The fourth Lost Page is underneath the small wooden building in the northwestern corner.

Kofukuji Temple

The sizable Kofukuji Temple is another large complex located south of the Todaiji Temple and east of Koriyama. You must find three Lost Pages here.

  • One is on the first balcony (second floor) of the most central building.
  • Another one is on the highest floor of the tall pagoda in the southeast.
  • The final Lost Page is hidden below the floor of the southwestern pagoda. You can crawl through a crack in the wood and grab it.

Nyoirinji Temple

The Nyoirinji Temple is situated between a Shrine and a Kuji-Kiri location. Even better; it has a viewpoint, so you can teleport there directly. This temple has three Lost Pages.

  • The first is right next to the viewpoint, on the same tree branch.
  • The second Lost Page is on top of the large pagoda behind the viewpoint.
  • The third is on top of the building behind the pagoda (the central one with the golden decorations).

All Lost Pages in Wakasa

In the Wakasa region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Saifukuji Temple is a notable location for collecting Lost Pages. Situated near the northern end of Wakasa, west of the town of Tsuruga in the Sotomo Gate sub-region, Saifukuji Temple houses two Lost Pages. These pages are relatively easy to find due to the temple’s compact size, and players can use Naoe’s Observe ability to highlight the pages as white dots, simplifying the search. Collecting these Lost Pages rewards players with Knowledge Points, which are essential for unlocking advanced abilities in the game’s skill trees.

The northern province of Wakasa covers a vast territory, yet it’s home to only two temples with Lost Pages. The Gokurakuji Temple is quite remote, but the Saifukuji Temple is close to the town of Sotomo Gate.

Gokurakuji Temple

The Gokurakuji Temple is the first building you’ll see if you ride north from Yamashiro. You must find two Lost Pages here.

  • The first Lost Page is easy to find; it’s on the first building you see as you enter the temple from the south.
  • The second Lost Page is harder to locate as you need to follow the path that leads north from the main temple grounds. The Lost Page is a bit further uphill, inside the cave.

Saifukuji Temple

The Saifukuji Temple is situated in the hills southwest of Sotomo Gate, northern Wakasa. This temple holds two Lost Pages to collect.

  • The first is on the balcony of the first building you see as you enter the temple grounds (arriving from the east).
  • The second is inside the westernmost building.

All Lost Pages in Tamba

In the Tamba region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players can explore temples to find Lost Pages, which are scattered collectibles that reward knowledge points upon full collection. These Lost Pages are often hidden in challenging spots such as behind structures, on rooftops, or elevated pedestals, and sometimes guarded by Warrior Monks or Samurai, requiring careful navigation. Using Naoe’s Observe ability helps to locate these pages as white dots in the environment. Collecting all Lost Pages in Tamba temples contributes to character progression by enhancing knowledge and unlocking new abilities.

The northwestern province of Tamba has two temples with Lost Pages for you to visit. One is quite close to Miyazu Bay, while the other has a viewpoint, so you can easily travel back if you don’t feel like searching for Lost Pages right now.

Sukyoji Temple

The Sukyoji Temple lies south of Miyazu Bay (you can follow the road from there and keep right) and hides two Lost Pages.

  • Take the main entrance (eastern entrance) and look left; the first Lost Page is on the roof of the first building.
  • If you look to the right directly after entering the temple, you’ll see a tree at the end of the path; the second Lost Page is on this tree.

Annonji Temple

You’ll find the Annonji Temple in the southern part of Tamba, conveniently located below a viewpoint. There are three Lost Pages to collect.

  • The first is on the pagoda’s top floor, directly below the viewpoint.
  • The second is inside the building southeast of the pagoda.
  • The third is in the attic of the highly damaged building southwest of the pagoda.

All Lost Pages in Kii

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Kii region features several temples where players can find Lost Pages, which are collectible items that grant Knowledge Points and XP. These Lost Pages are typically hidden in challenging spots such as rooftops, behind structures, or on elevated pedestals, often requiring careful exploration and use of Naoe’s Observe ability to locate them. Collecting all Lost Pages in a temple rewards you with a Knowledge Point, aiding in character progression. The temples in Kii are part of a broader network of temples across Japan, each containing between two to five Lost Pages, sometimes guarded by Warrior Monks or Samurai, adding a layer of challenge to their retrieval.

With a whopping total of six temples, Kii may not be quite on the same level as Yamashiro, but it has a significant amount of temples. Luckily, most are situated near viewpoints, so they’re both quick to travel to. The Jison-in Temple is the only truly remote one, but it’s fairly easy to find if you stick to the road between Saika and Koyasan.

Negoroji Temple Grounds

The Negoroji Temple is in the northwestern part of Kii, close to Izumi Settsu. The temple grounds are vast, with a total of five Lost Pages to collect.

  • The first is below the floor of the building next to the large pagoda, on the pagoda’s southwest side. You can crawl underneath the flooring from the outside after you destroy some pots blocking the entrance (northwest corner of the building).
  • The second Lost Page is on the building east of the pagoda, on the lower part of the roof.
  • The third is on the trough just south of the pagoda (still close to the viewpoint).
  • To find the fourth Lost Page, enter the walled garden west of the large pagoda. The Lost Page is below the broken bridge.
  • The fifth Lost Page is directly behind this broken bridge, on the top floor of the smaller pagoda (also the westernmost building).

Saika Temple Grounds

In Saika, on the west coast of Kii, you’ll find the Saika Temple. You must find two Lost Pages here. Beware that the viewpoint is on castle grounds – the temple is a bit further south.

  • If you enter the temple from the north, the first Lost Page is in the bushes to your left.
  • The second Lost Page is on the top floor of the large pagoda (meaning the pagoda within the temple grounds, not the one with the viewpoint). It’s on one of the beams, just below the top roof.

Jison-in

The Jison-in temple is located on the road between Saika and Koyasan, close to the Mount Koya viewpoint. It contains two Lost Pages.

  • If you take the western entrance, the first Lost Page is directly to the right, next to the tree.
  • The second Lost Page is just a bit further ahead, next to the large gong.

Koyasan Danjo Garan

This temple is located in the town of Koyasan, west side. It’s quite large, with four Lost Pages to collect.

  • The first Lost Page is on the round balcony below the viewpoint.
  • The second is on a small stone pillar, on the ground directly southwest of the viewpoint.
  • The third Lost Page is on the westernmost building (painted red).
  • And the fourth page is on the other building on the west side, the pagoda.

Kongobuji Temple

The second temple in Koyasan is found in the northeast. There are three Lost Pages to find.

  • If you enter the temple grounds from the southeast (there’s a hole in the wall), climb the first building you see and grab the Lost Page from the balcony.
  • The second Lost Page is inside the large central building. It’s on the ground floor, but you do need to climb a wall as the page is lying on a high beam.
  • The third Lost Page is on the small altar north of the temple grounds.

Dojoji Temple

The Dojoji Temple is situated in a small town on the southwestern coast. You must find two Lost Pages here.

  • The first is on the pagoda’s first balcony – so halfway up the tallest building.
  • The second Lost Page is on the ground in the western corner of the complex, next to a stone pillar.

Which hidden spots in Assassin’s Creed Shadows hold the most elusive Lost Pages

The most elusive Lost Pages in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are often found in temples with complex layouts and guarded areas, notably Makinoodera Temple, Tennoji Temple, and Gansenji Temple. Makinoodera Temple, located near the southern border of Izumi Settsu, hides pages inside walled areas, ruined attics, and bamboo forests, requiring careful exploration and sometimes stealth due to enemy guards. Tennoji Temple is particularly challenging because hostile monks patrol the area, and pages are tucked away in places like hollow trees, rooftops, and bell towers, demanding a quiet and strategic approach. Gansenji Temple also conceals pages behind boulders and atop large structures, making them tricky to spot without keen observation. Using Naoe’s Observe ability to highlight white dots is essential for spotting these well-hidden pages, often perched on rooftops or trees, which adds to their elusiveness.

Which Temples in Assassin’s Creed Shadows have the most hidden Lost Pages

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the temples with the most hidden Lost Pages include Makinoodera Temple, Todaiji Temple, and Tanjosan Myoyoji Temple. Makinoodera Temple, located in the southern part of Izumi Settsu, contains three Lost Pages scattered across damaged buildings and attics. Todaiji Temple in Yamato province stands out with four Lost Pages hidden in pagoda towers, under buildings, and in garden areas. Tanjosan Myoyoji Temple in Harima also features three Lost Pages distributed within its large complex, including inside buildings and courtyard areas. These temples offer the richest opportunities to collect Lost Pages, rewarding players with valuable Knowledge Points for character mastery.
