In Baldur’s Gate 3, the elusive tiefling Mol weaves through the shadows of the city’s criminal underworld, challenging players to track her down across acts and locations. From her secretive hideout among the children in Emerald Grove to her rise as a gang leader in the Guildhall of the Lower City, finding Mol is a quest that tests your wit, stealth, and negotiation skills. Whether you’re navigating toxic sewers or unlocking hidden doors with a guild ring, uncovering Mol’s whereabouts promises a thrilling dive into Baldur’s Gate’s darker corners.
Mol acts as a minor quest giver in the first act, asking you to steal the sacred druid idol and cause trouble. However, just like all the other Tieflings, she’ll move out of the Emerald Grove if you save her people, making her way to the Last Light Inn in act 2’s Shadow-cursed Lands.
This is where Mol’s story can get much more complex and confusing, leading to the “Find Mol”questline, which can span much of the game. In this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we’ll tell you how to “rescue” Mol and where you can find her.
[Ed. note: This post contains spoilers for act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3.]
How to start the ’Find Mol’ quest in BG3 act 2
To start the “Find Mol” quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 2, you need to speak to the tiefling children at the Last Light Inn after successfully defending the settlement from an attack. During this encounter, the children will talk about Mol, their leader, and her mysterious disappearance. Engaging in this conversation and promising to find her will add the quest to your journal. Although hints suggest searching for Mol in the Mind Flayer Colony or Moonrise Towers, she is not found in these locations during Act 2. Instead, Mol will only be encountered later in Act 3 in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate.

Below, we’ll explain how to start the “Find Mol” quest in act 2. But if you already have it, feel free to skip to the next section, as you cannot progress this quest at all until you reach Baldur’s Gate in act 3.
Assuming the Tieflings all survived act 1, Mol will appear in the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-touched Lands in act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. When you walk in, you’ll see her playing chess with none other than Raphael, the Cambion Fiend disguised as a human. If you talk to the pair of them, Mol will return to her friends over by the bar and Raphael will flap his mouth at you as usual.
Once you progress the act 2 story a bit, the Last Light Inn will come under attack by the cult operating out of Moonrise Towers, and will attempt to kidnap Isobel. If you fail this combat, basically everyone in the inn dies, and it’s very bad. But even if you succeed and save Isobel, many of the Tieflings will be carried off to Moonrise Towers, and you’ll need to rescue them again.

After the attack, you can talk to Mol’s friends – the other Tiefling children in the Last Light Inn – and they’ll ask you to rescue their friend for them. This will give you the “Find Mol” quest.
Depending on how much of a completionist you are, it’ll probably be quite a few hours between the Last Light Inn and your initial entry into Moonrise Towers. But, once you make your way in there, infiltrate the prisons, and rescue the Tieflings, you’ll discover that Mol is nowhere to be found. Go ahead and put your detective cap away now. You’re not going to find Mol anywhere in act 2, as she’s already escaped to Baldur’s Gate itself.
Finish up rescuing the other Tieflings – including Zevlor – and clean up all the quests you want to do in act 1 and act 2. Once you’re ready, head to Baldur’s Gate to pursue Mol.
Where to find Mol in BG3 act 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 3, you can find Mol in the Guildhall, located in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate. After crossing Wyrm’s Crossing into the Lower City, head to the Guildhall, which serves as the secret underground headquarters for the city’s thieves and criminals. There are multiple ways to enter the Guildhall, including convincing the guard Tusgront to let you in (especially if you have Jaheira in your party), accessing through the sewers, or helping the Guild to gain entry. Once inside, Mol is found among other children and a trader, marking the completion of the “Find Mol” quest.

Once you make it to Baldur’s Gate, continue the main quest into the Lower City and put Jaheira in your party. Start the “Aid the Underduke quest, which you pick up by going inside the Sharess’ Caress pleasure house in Rivington.
From there, head to the entrance to the Guildhall with Jaheira – denoted on the map above – east of the counting house. As long as you have the Druid Harper in your party, the scoundrels blocking the entrance will let you in without a fuss.

Once you make it into the Guildhall, walk around and meet all the thieves. Eventually, you’ll bump into Mol, who is making a new life for herself among the thieves of the Guildhall. Talk to her and you’ll complete the “Find Mol” quest.
If you want to aid Mol further – although she won’t see it as you helping her – you can find her contract with Raphael inside the House of Hope. If you kill him and then tell Mol about it, however, she’ll yell at you, saying Raphael was her Warlock Patron and that he still owed her a few promises. She’ll then vow that the guild won’t look on you too kindly when she’s in charge. Admittedly, that doesn’t feel very good. But, on the upside, you saved a child from being eternally enslaved by a literal devil!
Curious where Mol hides in the Lower City’s sewers in Act 3
In Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, Mol can be found within the Lower City Sewers, specifically inside the Guildhall, which serves as the base for the city’s notorious criminal faction, The Guild. To reach her, players must navigate the sewers accessible through various manholes and entrances scattered throughout the Lower City, including one near Sorcerous Sundries and others inside buildings like the Elfsong Tavern basement and Flymm Cargo. While exploring, be aware that some doors, such as the one leading to Cazador’s Dungeon, remain locked from the sewer side until accessed from the dungeon itself. Mol’s presence in the Guildhall makes the sewers a critical location for advancing related quests and interacting with key NPCs in Act 3.
Is Mol hiding in the sewer area near the Cazador prison entrance
Mol is not hiding directly in the sewer area near the Cazador prison entrance. While the Lower City Sewers connect to various locations including near Cazador’s palace, Mol is specifically located inside the Guildhall within the Lower City sewers, a bit apart from the prison entrance. Players can reach her by navigating through the sewers, clearing noxious fumes, and entering the Guildhall through hidden doors or back entrances, but the door to Cazador’s dungeon remains locked from the sewer side until accessed from inside the dungeon itself.
