Destiny 2 Starcat Locations Guide for Season of the Wish

Guides

Hunting for hidden treasures in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish just got a whole lot cuter-and more celestial. Scattered across the Dreaming City and beyond are 14 elusive Starcats, mystical felines that reward vigilant Guardians with rare loot and exclusive triumphs. Whether perched in Riven’s Lair or lurking in Lost Sectors, these cosmic cats are waiting to be found-and every discovery brings you closer to unlocking the coveted Wyrmguard Ghost Shell. Ready your Ghost and sharpen your senses; the Starcats won’t reveal themselves easily.

Note: This guide currently logs all locations up to and including the secret Starcat in Week 8. All of the Starcats are now technically in the game, and while one of the Week 5 cats is currently bugged, you can get the Familiar Feline Triumph with the surprise addition of the 15th Starcat.

1: Garden of Plenty Starcat location (Week 1)

The Garden of Plenty Starcat in Week 1 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish can be found within the Riven’s Lair activity, specifically in the Garden of Plenty arena. This Starcat “likes to peer down from a place of power,” and is located near a large circular podium at the far end of the garden, close to the exit portal. To find it, players should clear the enemies in the area and then look beneath the lip of the rocky edge of the cliff, where the Starcat is hidden near a secretive pool of water. Note that the Garden of Plenty encounter is randomly assigned in Riven’s Lair, so you may need to repeat the activity until it appears.

“Within the Garden of Plenty in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to peer down from a place of power.”

The Garden of Plenty is a location that you can reach as part of the Riven’s Lair activity. But it also appears during the Polysemy mission in week 1 of Season of the Wish. Getting to the Garden of Plenty is guaranteed in Polysemy, so I recommend you grab this Starcat while you’re there in that mission. If you miss it during the mission, don’t worry, just run Riven’s Lair until you find yourself in an area called the Garden of Plenty.

Once you’re in the area, keep to your left. As you approach the big stage pavilion at the end of the area, look over the cliff to your left. You’ll see a big pit ahead of you, and a small, purple cat sitting on the rocky ledge. Drop down and interact with the Starcat to send it back to the HELM.

2: Blind Well Starcat location (Week 1)

The Blind Well Starcat for Week 1 in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish is one of the easier Starcats to find. It is located inside the Blind Well arena in the Dreaming City. Upon entering the Blind Well, head to the back of the room near the giant set of doors where the Tier 4 boss typically spawns. The Starcat will be sitting right in front of these doors. Interact with it to collect this Starcat and earn rewards including Dreaming City loot and the Blind Well Starcat Triumph.

“Within the Blind Well, this Starcat likes to wait by the door.”

The Blind Well Starcat is simple to locate. Load into the Blind Well activity on the Dreaming City by either selecting the node on the map or driving to it while on the destination. Head into the room and past the big well in the middle of the room, where the activity starts.

Head to the door at the very back of the room, opposite of where you enter from – the same door that the final boss typically spawns next to.

At the foot of this massive door, you’ll see a Starcat. Interact with it to send it back to the HELM.

3: Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcat location (Week 2)

The Starcat for Week 2 in the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath can be found inside Riven’s Lair, specifically in the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath area. To locate it, enter the temple and immediately turn right into a long corridor adorned with two iconic Awoken statues. The Starcat is hiding behind the statue closest to your spawn point. Players can access this location either by running Riven’s Lair until the Temple appears as a randomly assigned room or by using the Tautology mission, which leads directly there as part of the seasonal story. Finding this Starcat contributes to the Familiar Felines triumph and rewards players with special loot in Season of the Wish.

“Within the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to hide in nooks.”

The Temple of the Queen’s Wrath is a location that you can reach as part of the Riven’s Lair activity. But it also appears during the Tautology mission in Week 2 of Season of the Wish. Getting to the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath is guaranteed in Tautology, so I recommend you grab this Starcat while you’re there in that mission. If you miss it during the mission, don’t worry, just run Riven’s Lair until you find yourself in an area called the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath.

Once you’re in the area, head to the right. Make another right, and you’ll find the Star Cat hidden behind the statue pictured above.

4: Chamber of Starlight Starcat location (Week 2)

The Chamber of Starlight Starcat in Week 2 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish can be found within the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, located in the Rheasilvia area of the Dreaming City. After clearing the Lost Sector and reaching the main boss room, look to the right side near the final chest. The Starcat is perched on a table covered with a white tablecloth, surrounded by navigational equipment. This spot is just off a hallway connected to the balcony exit of the Lost Sector, making it relatively easy to spot once you reach the boss area.

“Within the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, this Starcat likes to calculate gravity.”

The Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector is located in the Rheasilvia area of the Dreaming City. To get there, head to Rheasilvia from the Divalian Mists. Make a slight right as you load into the area and head to the bridge in front of you. Once you’re on the bridge, look towards the cliff face where you’ll see the Lost Sector Symbol. Head towards that to find the entrance hidden in the rocks.

Go through the Lost Sector until you reach the boss room. This Starcat is located towards the middle of the room on the small table.

5: Bay of Drowned Wishes Starcat location (Week 2)

In Week 2 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, the Bay of Drowned Wishes Starcat can be found within the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector, located in the Divalian Mists of the Dreaming City. This Lost Sector is notable for having a transmat point, making it easily accessible. To find the Starcat, clear the Lost Sector until you reach the final chest room. The Starcat will be perched on a narrow ledge just a few steps away from the chest, seemingly pondering a collection of broken Servitors that can be used as bombs. Interacting with this Starcat will grant you rewards and contribute to the Familiar Felines triumph.

“Within the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector, this Starcat likes pondering orbs.”

The Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector is located in the Divalian Mists area of the Dreaming City. To get there, load into the Dreaming City. Turn around and head toward the group of rocks behind you. The entrance to the Lost Sector will be right there.

Go through the Lost Sector until you reach the boss room. This Starcat is located directly next to the loot chest on the right.

6: Aphelion’s Rest Starcat location (Week 2)

In Week 2 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, the Aphelion’s Rest Starcat can be found in the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector, located in the southeastern part of the Dreaming City known as The Strand. To find this Starcat, enter the Lost Sector beneath the gazebo where Petra Venj used to be in Forsaken. After clearing the enemies and reaching the chest room, look above and behind the loot chest for a large ceramic bowl. The Starcat will be sitting inside this bowl, making it a distinctive and easy-to-spot location for players collecting the Familiar Felines triumph.

“Within the Blind Well Lost Sector, this Starcat likes to sit in the bowl.”

The Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector is found within The Strand area of the Dreaming City. To get there, head to The Strand area from the Divalian Mists. Once you load into the area, head to the opposite side near where the gazebo is up on the hill. Stay on the ground in the water and head to the opposing side of the rock with the gazebo, and you’ll find the Lost Sector entrance.

Go through the Lost Sector until you reach the boss room. This Starcat is located in a bowl directly above and behind the loot chest.

7: Gnashing Chamber Starcat (Week 3)

In Week 3 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, the lone new Starcat can be found in the Gnashing Chamber, a location within Riven’s Lair that resembles the Vault from the Last Wish Raid. Players can encounter this area either by running Riven’s Lair, The Coil, or the Enthymem mission, though the Gnashing Chamber does not always appear in every run. The Starcat is described as appreciating fine art and is located between two rooms known as Rock and Stairs, where it can be seen admiring a ceramic model of itself on a table. Finding and interacting with this Starcat contributes to the Familiar Felines triumph and rewards players with Dreaming City loot and a Lair Key.

“Within the Gnashing Chamber in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat appreciates fine art.”

The lone Week 3 Starcat is one of the easiest to find – that is if you get lucky enough to make it into the Gnashing Chamber where they’re hiding.

Like the other cats located in Riven’s Lair or The Coil, you’ll need to play until you end up in the Gnashing Chamber mid-tier encounter – which in this case is just The Vault room from the Last Wish raid. Waiting for the Gnashing Chamber could take a couple runs, so we recommend you get this cat during the Week 3 “Enthymeme” mission, where the room is guaranteed to spawn. If you’ve already completed that mission, just keep playing Riven’s Lair or The Coil and it’ll pop up eventually.

Once you’re actually in the Gnashing Chamber, head to the center circle and walk around checking the tables that sit between the doorways to the other rooms. Eventually, you’ll find a table with a cat statue sitting on it. Next to this statue is the Starcat, mimicking their porcelain clone. Grab it and you’ll be all caught up for Week 3.

8. Reaver’s Orison Starcat (Week 4)

The Reaver’s Orison Starcat, featured in Week 4 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, is located within the Reaver’s Orison area of Riven’s Lair. Players can access this Starcat by entering the Sensorium section through the left portal when starting The Coil or Riven’s Lair activities, or via the seasonal Apophasis mission. After progressing through the Splintered Geode and defeating three Vex nodes and an Ogre, the Starcat can be found on the right side of the large causeway that divides the arena, nestled under the roots of a dead tree.

“Within the Reaver’s Orison in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to root around.”

There’s only one Starcat to find in Week 4 of Season of the Wish, and you’ll need to get lucky enough to drop into the Reaver’s Orison during a Coil or Riven’s Lair run.

However, like most weeks, you’re guaranteed to see the Reaver’s Orison location during the weekly mission for Week 4: Apophasis. Just do the mission as you normally would and stop when you enter the mid-combat arena called Reaver’s Orison. It’s a giant room filled with Vex and a massive Vex shield, so it’s tough to miss.

Once you spawn into the arena, finding the cat is pretty simple. Look immediately to your right and you’ll see a big, dead tree growing out of the stone. Walk over to it and you’ll see this week’s Starcat sitting amongst the roots. Walk up and interact with the cat to finish off the collectibles for Week 4.

9. Cell of the Sycophant Starcat (Week 5)

In Week 5 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, the Starcat initially indicated to be in the Cell of the Sycophant is actually found in the Spine of Keres, a region in the Dreaming City. This Starcat can be located near one of Mara’s Techeuns in the Observatory area, where it keeps company with the Techeun. Players can reach the Spine of Keres by starting at Divalian Mists and navigating through the crystal-lined cave and some jumps to enter the area. Despite the in-game clue pointing to the Cell of the Sycophant, the true location rewards players with the correct triumph and is accessible during patrol in the Dreaming City.

“Within the Cell of the Sycophant in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to hide in shrubbery.”

As of Jan. 2, 2024, this Starcat appears to be bugged and does not actually appear in the Cell of the Sycophant. (See the entry below for more details.)

10. Spine of Keres Starcat (Week 5)

For Week 5 of Season of the Wish in Destiny 2, the Starcat can be found in the Spine of Keres area of the Dreaming City, rather than the Cell of the Sycophant as the Triumph suggests. To locate it, start at the Divalian Mists transmat zone, head north to the cliff’s edge, then turn left through the crystal-lined cave and make a few jumps to enter the Spine of Keres. The Starcat is found in the observatory, perched next to one of Queen Mara’s Techeuns at the top of the circular stairs. Finding this Starcat will unlock the correct triumph and is part of the Familiar Felines collection for the season.

“Spine of Keres: Keeps Techeuns company.”

The Starcat that was supposed to show up during Week 5 is bugged, but this one showed up instead – despite having a hidden Triumph.

To get this Starcat, drop into the Dreaming City patrol and head to the Spine of Keres, which is the area on the map to the left from where you start.

Follow the path until you reach the Oracle Engine, which is the massive cathedral-esque building that you have to pass through in order to continue through the area. Climb up the stairs on the right until you reach the Techeun who is standing next to a giant purple ball. The Starcat is right next to the Techeun. Walk up and collect the cat.

11. Harbinger’s Seclude Starcat (Week 6)

The Harbinger’s Seclude Starcat in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish can be found inside the large Awoken tower located at the northeastern part of Rheasilvia in the Dreaming City. To reach it, enter the tower and proceed through the path until you reach a large open room with a Techeun statue. Drop down to the left side near a cave entrance, avoiding the nearby Taken portal, and enter the cave. Inside, turn left into a chamber containing multiple alcoves with skulls on altars. The Starcat is hidden behind the altar in the left alcove, near Muninn’s skull. Interacting with this Starcat will reward you with seasonal loot and contribute to the Familiar Felines triumph needed for the Wishbearer title and the Wyrmguard Ghost shell.

“Within the Harbinger’s Seclude, this Starcat likes to spend time with friends.”

For the first of the week 6 Starcats, head to the Dreaming City and drive to Rheasilvia. Head into the castle at the top of the zone and continue forward until you reach the Harbinger’s Seclude.

Follow the path until you reach the end of the area, where you’ll find a giant statue with Taken orbs all over it. From there, turn around and go down the giant elevator shaft. You’ll find yourself in a small area with some Taken orbs and Taken enemies. Go forward and to your left. You’ll find a Ahamkara Dragon skull sitting on an altar (Muninn). The Starcat is behind the altar and the skull.

12. Gardens of Esila Starcat (Week 6)

The Gardens of Esila Starcat, featured in Week 6 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, can be found near the water’s edge in the Dreaming City’s Gardens of Esila area. To locate it, players should access the garden from the southern end of The Strand, proceed through the enemies and garden area, and then look under a white bridge near a small building and a moss-covered Techeun statue. The Starcat is perched beneath this bridge, overlooking the water, making it a relatively straightforward find for those exploring this lush, tranquil section of the Dreaming City.

“Within the Gardens of Esila, this Starcat likes to hide near the water’s edge.”

For this Starcat, fly down to the Dreaming City and drive to The Strand. Head east as soon as you reach the area and go to the southernmost area of the map. This place, which has a little flower on the map, is called the Gardens of Esila.

Continue along the garden paths until you go over a small bridge that runs over some water. Jump off of the bridge and look underneath it. You’ll find a Starcat sitting there, giving itself a bath. Grab it.

13. The Confluence Starcat (Week 6)

The Confluence Starcat, featured in Week 6 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, is located in The Confluence area within the Dreaming City patrol zone. To reach it, players must find a Taken portal, which can spawn in one of three locations: Gardens of Esila, Spine of Keres, or Harbinger’s Seclude. Entering this portal transports you to a twisted version of the Blind Well room covered in branches. The Starcat can be found near the portal frame at the opposite end of this room. Interacting with the Starcat grants rewards and contributes to the Familiar Felines triumph, which unlocks the Wyrmguard Ghost Shell.

“Within the Confluence, this Starcat likes to stare into the void.”

The final Starcat of Week 6 can be a little tricky to find, but only if you don’t know how to get to The Confluence in the Dreaming City.

Land in the Divalian Mists and head west as if you’re going to the Spine of Keres. But before you reach the Oracle Engine, get off your sparrow and jump off the bridge and to your right. You’ll find a small path which leads to a portal. This will take you to the Confluence.

Continue through The Confluence until you find a room with a massive portal in it, which has vines and Taken goop growing all over it. (If you’re an old-school Destiny 2 player, you’ll remember this being the original portal location for the Shattered Throne dungeon). Head up to the empty portal and you’ll find a Starcat sitting in the middle of the area. Grab it.

14. The Astral Cloister Starcat (Week 7)

The Astral Cloister Starcat, featured in Week 7 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, is located within the Astral Cloister area of Riven’s Lair. Players can find it by starting the Chiasmus story mission or by entering Riven’s Lair or The Coil activities and proceeding through the right portal to reach the Astral Cloister. After defeating the three Plaguewielders, the Starcat can be found near a large Techeun statue on a floating platform, often nestled in a small bubble or dish in front of the statue. Interacting with the Starcat will allow players to present a gift and claim the associated Triumph. This Starcat marks the final collectible of the season, adding to the total of 14 Starcats that players can find to unlock the Wyrmguard Ghost shell and the Wishbearer title.

“Within the Astral Cloister in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to enjoy its solitude.”

The 14th Starcat is in a new area in Riven’s Lair added in Week 7, called the Astral Cloister. Like most of the Riven’s Lair Starcats, we recommend grabbing this one during the Chiasmus mission, as you’re guaranteed to get the Astral Cloister area.

Once you complete the main objective in the Astral Cloister, the game will point you to the exit portal. Don’t take it. Instead, look toward the portal and to the right. You’ll see a large Dreaming City statue across some floating rocks. Jump over there and look for the small orb next to it. There is a cat by the orb. The cat didn’t appear visually for me, but I could still interact with it to get the reward, so give it a try even if you don’t physically see the cat

Hit the interact button on the orb to collect the final collectible for this season.

15. Starcrossed Starcat (Week 8, secret)

The “Starcrossed Starcat” is a secret Starcat introduced in Week 8 of Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish. This final Starcat, along with the return of the missing Week 5 Starcat, completes the collection of all 14 Starcats available in the season. Finding and interacting with the Starcrossed Starcat, like the others, allows it to take up residence in the H.E.L.M., contributing to the Familiar Felines triumph and rewarding players with unique Dreaming City loot. Although Season of the Wish’s story concludes by Week 7, Week 8 offers this final collectible challenge for dedicated Guardians.

“Within the Black Garden . wait, how did this Starcat get here?”

Turns out Bungie was hiding a 15th Starcat. To get this Starcat, which was added on Jan. 16, you’ll need to do quite a bit of work in the “Starcrossed” mission. As far as I can tell, the only way to get this Starcat is to complete all of the Constellation Catalyst quests for the Wish-Keeper bow. Once you’ve completed those tasks, come back here.

Each week you complete one of the quests and complete “Starcrossed” on Legend, a platform appears on the other side of the Ahamkara bones. Once you’ve completed all four Catalyst quests, the platform will lead up to a mysterious portal. Head into the portal and walk forward.

You’ll see a strange looking metal flag or icon sitting in the center of a circle. This is the icon for the Ishtar Collective, a research foundation from Venus that was important back in the first Destiny. It’s an interesting Easter egg, but, let’s be honest, you’re here for the cat. The final Starcat is sitting right next to the center of the circle, staring up at the Ishtar Collective flag. Grab it to complete your collection.

All Starcats reward in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish

In Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish, collecting all 14 Starcats (15 if including the secret Starcrossed one) rewards players with the Wyrmguard Ghost Shell and is essential for completing the Familiar Felines triumph, which is required to unlock the Wishbearer title. These celestial feline collectibles are scattered across the Dreaming City and related activities, and interacting with each Starcat grants a random Dreaming City weapon and a Lair Key without needing any offerings. As players find Starcats, they are relocated to the HELM, including a spot near Queen Mara, creating a cozy collection of these cosmic cats. The Starcats appear progressively throughout the season, with new ones unlocking weekly, encouraging exploration and engagement with the seasonal content.

As mentioned, there are 14 Starcats (15 if you include the secret Starcrossed one) hidden throughout the various activities and locations featured in Season of the Wish. If you find them all, you’ll unlock the Familiar Felines Triumph, which comes with the Wyrmguard Shell for your Ghost.

Where are the most hidden Starcats in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish

The most hidden Starcats in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish are primarily found within Riven’s Lair and select Lost Sectors in the Dreaming City, where their locations require careful exploration and sometimes multiple runs due to random encounter rotations. Notably, the Garden of Plenty and Temple of the Queen’s Wrath Starcats are tucked away in Riven’s Lair, demanding repeated attempts to access the specific areas where they hide. Additionally, Lost Sectors like Chamber of Starlight and Bay of Drowned Wishes conceal Starcats near their final chests, often in subtle or out-of-sight spots such as ledges or behind statues. The Spine of Keres in the Dreaming City also hosts a Starcat that keeps company with Mara Sov’s Techeuns, hidden high in the observatory’s circular stairs, making it one of the more secretive locations. These Starcats blend into their environments, requiring Guardians to be observant and persistent to uncover all 14 across the season.

Which Starcats are the hardest to spot in Riven’s Lair and why

The hardest Starcats to spot in Riven’s Lair are those located in the Garden of Plenty, Reaver’s Orison, and the Astral Cloister due to their obscure placements and the random nature of the activity’s map rotations.

  • Garden of Plenty Starcat is challenging because this location appears randomly in Riven’s Lair, requiring multiple runs to access it. Once there, the Starcat is perched on a rocky ledge by the cliffside, slightly off the main path, making it easy to overlook.

  • Reaver’s Orison Starcat hides near a gnarled black tree at the right side of the arena, tucked among the roots. Its subtle placement near environmental details demands careful observation, especially amid combat distractions.

  • Astral Cloister Starcat is found on a small floating island behind a statue near a glowing blue orb. This Starcat can be invisible due to a known bug, requiring players to look for the prompt to “Present a Gift” rather than relying solely on visual cues. The area’s complex layout with multiple exit portals also adds to the difficulty in locating this feline.

These Starcats’ combination of random map appearances, hidden nooks, and occasional bugs makes them the most elusive within Riven’s Lair.
