How to get Still Hunt in Destiny 2
To get the Still Hunt exotic sniper rifle in Destiny 2, you first need to complete the campaign of The Final Shape expansion. After finishing the campaign, return to the Old Tower in the Pale Heart and start the “Destined Heroes” quest, completing its first part. Then, speak to Cayde-6 in the Old Tower to begin the “Wild Card” quest, which is the key mission to unlock Still Hunt. The Wild Card quest involves various stages, including investigating areas, defeating Taken blights, and battling a Scorn Abomination boss. Once you complete this quest by returning to Cayde-6, you will be rewarded with the Still Hunt sniper rifle, known for its unique ability to fire Golden Gun shots and deal Super damage.
Unlocking Still Hunt requires Destiny 2: The Final Shape, and involves the following steps:
- Complete The Final Shape campaign
- Start the “Destined Heroes” quest, which eventually rewards Ergo Sum
- Complete Queens Part 1 to unlock the “Wild Card” mission
- Complete “Wild Card” to get Still Hunt
A step-by-step guide to completing the above steps in detail are as follows.
How to start the Still Hunt quest, ’Wild Card’
To start the Still Hunt quest, “Wild Card,” in Destiny 2, you first need to complete The Final Shape campaign and then finish the initial part of the “Destined Heroes” quest given by your Ghost. After this, speak with Cayde-6 in the Lost City at the Tower to pick up the Wild Card quest. Once accepted, you will be directed to The Landing to begin the mission, which involves investigating areas corrupted by Dark Ether alongside Cayde and Crow. This quest sets the stage for acquiring the Still Hunt exotic sniper rifle and involves multiple stages including combat and exploration.
The first thing you need to do is complete The Final Shape campaign. Afterwards, the Destined Heroes quest will become available at the old Tower in the Pale Heart.
The reward for this quest is, in fact, a different Exotic weapon, the Ergo Sum sword, but you’ll only need to complete the first part before we diverge into a separate quest for Still Hunt.
After picking up the quest you’ll first be told to listen to a radio broadcast from Savathun, then you’ll begin the Queens Part 1 mission.
Complete Queens Part 1

This mission pits you against Savathun’s Lucent Brood, who are attacking the rear of the Tower. Throughout the mission, you’ll be required to activate runes by hitting them with the appropriate damage type. Solar for orange runes, Void for purple, and Arc for the blue runes.
For the first few sections, this is done by grabbing a Hive sword from a Knight and using the block to deflect the correct attacks at each rune in the area. Knights use Solar attacks, Wizards have Arc, and Shriekers or Acolytes will bring the Void.

Later, you’ll find runes that are covered with shields. You simply need to hit the orb above them with the Hive sword’s ranged attack (Mouse 2, L2, or LT) to remove the barrier and carry on as normal.

Before long, you’ll be in a fight with Savathun herself. In this situation, you’ll need to use the sword to break the barriers around the runes, then grab elemental orbs from the nearby pedestals. Throw the orbs at their corresponding runes to break Savathun’s shield, then take her down to complete the mission.
Return to the Tower and pick up the quest

With Queens Part 1 complete, you can return to the Tower to continue the quest. You’ll need to chat with Micah-10, and then speak to Cayde-6. Cayde will give you the “Wild Card” quest, which ultimately rewards you with the Still Hunt exotic sniper.
This is what we’re here for, so we’ll put the Destined Heroes quest aside for now. Be sure to return to it later for that new sword!
“Wild Card” is a long mission, but it has checkpoints, so don’t be concerned if you can’t complete it all in one go. During this mission, you’ll join Cayde and Crow as they track down a source of Dark Ether corrupting the region.
To start the mission, jump from the walkway at the front of the old Tower down to the rooftop below, where you’ll find the flag to kick off the quest proper.
’Wild Card’ walkthrough
The “Wild Card” walkthrough in Destiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion guides players through a narrative-driven quest to obtain the Still Hunt exotic sniper rifle. To start, players must complete The Final Shape campaign and the initial part of the Destined Heroes quest, then speak with Cayde-6 at the Tower to pick up the Wild Card quest. The mission involves tracking and eliminating enemies corrupted by Dark Ether, setting up camp for narrative progression, and engaging in a stakeout where players must shoot down waves of Fallen Shanks, culminating in a fight against a massive Shank boss. The final stage features a challenging boss battle against Lii’liks, the Harvester of the Witness, in a confined cave filled with additional enemies. After completing these steps and returning to Cayde-6, players are rewarded with the Still Hunt sniper rifle, which uniquely grants the ability to fire Golden Gun shots.

The mission is mostly straightforward and self-explanatory, with a couple of head-scratching moments sprinkled throughout. You’ll start out inspecting marked locations, until setting up a camp in the area.
After making camp, you’ll head back out to hunt down enemies tainted withDark Ether. You’re looking for Screebs and War Beasts with an unusual aura-like white smoke coming off of them. Collect enough and you’ll be sent to locate an energy signature.
Take out the Devourer War Beast

Investigate the marked area, and you’ll start a boss fight with a juiced-up War Beast called the Devourer of Tainted Light. The fight isn’t too difficult, but the War Beast can take a punch. Whittle it down and eventually it will retreat behind a large shield. The shield doesn’t block your entrance, so follow it and continue fighting the beast and its buddies.
The Devourer will repeat this process a couple of times until you take it down. Once it’s dealt with, you’ll return to camp for a chat with Cayde and Crow. Meditate in the tent, then a few hours later you’ll be roused by a Taken attack. Fight them off, and destroy their Blights.
Destroy the Blights and Shank stakeout

There are four Blights in the area, and they cannot be damaged. Instead, you need todefeat all of the nearby Takento remove a Blight. All means all, if even one Taken is left alive the Blight will remain. Use your radar to find any sneaky Thralls that slip through the cracks.
After you deal with the four Blights, two more will appear. The same method works here, except this time the Taken are bolstered by some tougher Dread foes, namely Subjugators, Husks, and Grims. Take out all of the enemies at each Blight then return to the camp to continue the mission.
After another meditation session, you’ll be heading off for a stakeout. Follow the marker on-screen to a cliff, then drop down into the cave below. You’ll be prompted to enter a shortcut, and you’ll reappear in another small cave.

From here, you have three narrow windows through which you can see out. You cannot leave this area, as if you do, you’ll be killed and have to start over. What you’re supposed to do is pick off Shanks flying around the area outside until the “Mega Shank” appears.
Kill enough Shanks and the Hoarder of Tainted Lightwill appear. To take down its shield, you simply need to take out a bunch of the regular Shanks. Before long, the Shanks will start to enter your little cave, so be prepared for a long and short-ranged battle. Once the Mega Shank is down, we’re done here and on to the next step.
How to defeat Lii’liks, Harvester of the Witness

After another trip back to camp, we are off on the final stage of the “Wild Card” mission. This takes us into a dark cave filled with Screebs. Make your way carefully forward, clearing the way as you go.
You’ll reach a room where you can plant a rally flag, this is where we’ll find the missing barrel and the final boss of the mission. Lii’liks is a Scorn Abomination and a tough one at that. You’ll be fighting it as well as plenty of Scorn and Taken in this small space, so make good use of the pillars for cover.
The boss has three health bar sections; at each stage, it will become immune to damage and leave the area. When this happens, you’ll be tasked with filling the barrel with Dark Ether to draw it out. Take out the marauding Screebs and they will drop motes of Dark Ether, you need 10 of them to bring the boss back out.
Do this three times to win the fight. After a cutscene and another camp-side chat, you’ll need to head back to the Tower. Speak to Cayde-6 to complete the “Wild Card” quest, and receive your brand new Still Hunt exotic sniper rifle.
What does Still Hunt do?
Still Hunt is a unique Exotic sniper rifle in Destiny 2’s The Final Shape expansion that allows Warlocks and Titans to wield the Hunter’s Golden Gun ability. Its exotic perk, Cayde’s Retribution, lets the weapon absorb Precision Hits and Orbs of Power to fill its Super bar, enabling the player to reload and fire three powerful Golden Gun shots that deal Precision Damage. This makes Still Hunt the only gun in the game capable of inflicting Super damage, making it a highly sought-after weapon for both PvE and PvP activities. To obtain Still Hunt, players must complete The Final Shape campaign, start and progress through the Destined Heroes quest, then undertake the Wild Card quest given by Cayde-6, which culminates in earning the Still Hunt sniper rifle.

Still Hunt is a Solar exotic sniper rifle that allows anyone to wield a Golden Gun. The unique perk Cayde’s Retribution gives you a meter which fills up with every precision hit you land and every Orb of Power you pick up.
Once the meter is full, you can hold the reload button to activate Golden Gun. Other than being a sniper rifle, the weapon works exactly like the Golden Gun Super. For Hunters, it even works with the Celestial Nighthawk Exotic helmet, turning your three shots into one, much more powerful attack.
The weapon is not unique to Hunters, so Warlock and Titans can also get in on the Golden Gun fun. Dedicated gunslingers can pair this weapon with the regular Golden Gun for absolutely monstrous burst damage.

What challenges should I expect during the ’Wild Card’ mission for Still Hunt
During the “Wild Card” mission for Still Hunt in Destiny 2, you can expect several notable challenges:
-
Dark Ether-Infused Enemies: Early in the mission, you must track and eliminate Corrupted Warbeasts and Screebs, which are powered by volatile Dark Ether. These enemies can be tricky due to their corruption and numbers.
-
Defending the Camp from Taken Attacks: After setting up camp, you face waves of Taken enemies, including Thralls and tougher Dread foes, that spawn around Blights. You must clear all enemies at each Blight to progress, requiring careful crowd control and target prioritization.
-
Stakeout Cave with Limited Movement: In a confined cave overlooking the Landing region, you cannot leave the area without dying.
