A grieving widow, a cursed keepsake, and waves of undead stand between you and completing A Prayer of Salvation in Diablo 4’s first season-here’s how to trigger the quest, survive its twists, and claim the rewards before the shadows close in.
In this Diablo 4 guide, we’ll help you navigate the high level Strongholds and monsters by telling you exactly where to find the Crusader Missives, Paladin Prayer Book, and Tithe Ledger to help you finish this quest as safely as possible.
Where to collect the Crusader Missives
Crusader Missives drop from elite enemies and bosses in the Fractured Peaks. Check Fractured Tomb, Light’s Watch, and other strongholds for reliable spawns. Open world events and Helltides also yield them occasionally. Pick up any you spot while progressing through the zone to gather all four needed for the quest.
You’ll find the Crusader Missives in the Crusaders’ Monument Stronghold, which is recommended for level 35 players. As you can see from the screenshot above, we managed to get to this quest by level 22, so the Stronghold was very dangerous.
Thankfully, the Crusader Missives are actually a bit off the beaten path. Head to the northern part of the Stronghold, which looks like a small square sandwiched between two different paths, you’ll likely find a few enemies. Take the time to carefully smash them – even 15 levels under you should be able to kill them eventually, depending on your World Tier – and then walk up to the gravestone. Next to it, you’ll find the Missives. Pick them up and head to the Eriman’s Pyre Stronghold.
Where to collect the Paladin Prayer Book
The Paladin Prayer Book can be found in the southern part of the Cathedral of Light Stronghold in Kyovashad. Head inside the main hall after clearing the enemies and search the altar near the center of the room. The book lies beside several lit candles and relics, marked clearly by a faint golden glow. Pick it up to progress the objective and continue the “A Prayer of Salvation” quest.
The Eriman’s Pyre Stronghold and the Paladin Prayer Book is the hardest part of this quest, because the Stronghold offers four choices of location, each of which has its own wave of very high level enemies.
When you get to the Stronghold, open the path northwest of the burning man in the middle of the main area. This will take you into a circular arena with some cages sitting at the top. You’ll find a chest sitting in one of the cages. Open it and it’ll drop the Paladin Prayer Book.
If you’re fast enough, you can probably do this before the enemies kill you. But as long as you’re over level 20, you can probably handle this one branch of enemies.
Where to collect the Tithe Ledger
Head north from the Backwater Waypoint in Hawezar to the Delusion of Zealots sub-region and locate Belfry Zakara along the coast. The Tithe Ledger sits on the left side of the dungeon entrance amid rubble next to a weapon rack. Pick it up after climbing the nearby steps, avoiding entry into the dungeon itself.
Head over to the Belfry Zakara dungeon, which is on the eastern side of Hawezar.
Thankfully there are no enemies to kill here. However, the quest description is a bit confusing. The quest step makes it sound like the game wants you to dive into the Belfry Zakara dungeon, but it actually wants you to hang out by the entrance. Do not enter the dungeon. Up the stairs and to the left (the opposite direction of the dungeon entrance), you’ll find a book just sitting in the ruins.
Where to find Crusader Missives in Hawezar Stronghold
Crusader Missives are found in the Crusader’s Monument Stronghold, located north of Zarbinzet in Hawezar.
Exact Location
Head to the northern section of the Stronghold, where a small square sits between two paths leading to the Altar of Lilith. Clear enemies in this area, then interact with the Worn Gravestone (dedicated to Maryam, surrounded by candles) nearby.
How to Loot
The Missives rest on the left side of the altar or stone table behind the gravestone, just before the stairs to the Altar. Pick them up without needing to complete the full Stronghold-it’s accessible early, though enemies scale to level 35+.
Return them to Cormond to progress A Prayer for Salvation.
Where is Crusader’s Monument on the Hawezar map
Crusader’s Monument lies north of Zarbinzet, the main town in Hawezar, at the northwest edge of the region’s map in Diablo 4.
Map Position
Open the Hawezar map and locate Zarbinzet centrally; head due north along roads through the Umir Plateau until the skull-and-crossbones Stronghold icon appears-this marks Crusader’s Monument near the Bastion of Faith Dungeon.
Fast travel to Zarbinzet waypoint if unlocked, then ride north for a short trip amid level 50+ enemies.
