Completing most of the objectives in a single chapter unlocks the following chapter and earns you a powerful collection of bonuses, like new Legendary Aspects, a chest of gear or crafting materials, and a large hunk of Favor.
In season 3, Season of the Construct, Blizzard untethered the story from the Season Journey objectives, meaning you don’t have to reach a certain chapter in order to continue the seasonal quest.
