Unlocking one of Elden Ring’s most elusive secrets requires finding the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion-hidden deep within the shadowy Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia and atop the forbidding Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Together, these halves grant access to the mysterious Consecrated Snowfield via the Grand Lift of Rold, leading players toward the fabled land of Miquella’s Haligtree and the fearsome boss Malenia.
While useless on their own, the left and right halves combined grant access to the Consecrated Snowfield, the western part of the snowy Mountaintops of the Giants region, and perhaps the game’s most infamous boss – Malenia. This location guide will show you where to find the Haligtree Secret Medallions.
Tip: Before you start searching for the Secret Medallions in Elden Ring, check your inventory. If you’ve explored the southern parts of Liurnia, you may have collected the “Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right)” already!
Haligtree Secret Medallion right location
The right half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion in Elden Ring is found in the Village of the Albinaurics, located in the southwestern part of Liurnia of the Lakes. This hidden village lies beneath cliffs and is accessible by traveling along the lake shore to a dark cavern with a bridge overhead. To obtain the medallion, players must strike a seemingly ordinary pot just past the Perfumer enemy, revealing Albus, a dying Albinauric who gives the right half of the medallion before passing away. This medallion half is essential for operating the Grand Lift of Rold to unlock a secret path to the Consecrated Snowfield.
The right half of the Secret Medallion is found in the southern part of Liurnia, which means you can access its location as soon as you’ve defeated Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle. Looking at the Elden Ring map, this is the area you need to visit:

The Haligtree Secret Medallion is hidden in the Village of the Albinaurics, where an NPC named Old Albus will give it to you. If you zoom in on this region, here’s where to find the Haligtree Secret Medallion:

If you haven’t been to the Village of the Albinaurics yet, you can reach it by following the route below, starting from Stormveil Castle:

After riding through the marshes for a while, you’ll enter a massive cave system with a bunch of stone buildings situated on top of the cliffs. See the slope on your left, as shown in the picture below? Ride up this slope and keep following the path (beware of some minor enemies along the route) until you reach the Village of the Albinaurics Site of Grace.

From here, take the path to the east, leading uphill between two red Rowa Fruit bushes on the right and a sparkly shade on the left.

There’s just one more enemy between you and the Secret Medallion. Be prepared to evade his short-range fire and melee attacks; wait for him to cast the spell, then dodge behind him and attack. High-level players need no more than a few hits to defeat this enemy.

At last, you’ve reached the Secret Medallion location. If you follow the path just a bit further, you’ll see a dark corner on your right, with a small stone tomb in front and a large tree on the left. In this dark corner, as pointed out by the arrow, there’s a large pot – this is Old Albus in disguise. Hit the pot once to reveal Old Albus and exhaust his dialogue, after which he’ll hand you the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right).

Did you accidentally hit Old Albus more than once? Don’t worry; although this will cause him to turn hostile, you can still obtain the Haligtree Secret Medallion by defeating him and looting it from his body.
Haligtree Secret Medallion left location
The Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) in Elden Ring is located in Castle Sol, situated in the northeast part of the Mountaintops of the Giants region. To reach it, players must first defeat Commander Niall, the boss found on the rooftop of the castle’s tower. After defeating him, the medallion can be collected from the top of the tower. This area becomes accessible only after progressing through key late-game locations, including Leyndell, Royal Capital, and using the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Mountaintops of the Giants. The left half of the medallion, when combined with the right half, allows players to operate the Grand Lift of Rold to access the hidden path to Miquella’s Haligtree and the Consecrated Snowfield.
The left half of the Secret Medallion is found in the Mountaintops of the Giants region. Beware that this is an endgame region for Elden Ring, so you’ll need to fight through all of Liurnia, Altus Plateau, and Leyndell Castle before you can grab it. Here’s where to find this Haligtree Secret Medallion location on the map:

The Secret Medallion is found inside Castle Sol, a large fortress way up north.

To reach Castle Sol, you must cross the narrow bridge toward the north, ride through a valley until you see a massive giant ahead of you, then turn left. Keep riding until you hit a seemingly dead end, then use the wind current on your left (shown in the picture) and fly up the mountains. Cross another bridge (going north again), then ride down the snowy slopes – Castle Sol is in the lower valley.

Starting from Castle Sol’s entrance, the Main Gate Site of Grace, carefully head inside the courtyard and fight the two lion guardians, then go up the wooden stairs.

Beware of the warhawk on top of the large stone building to your left and the two hounds in front of you. Defeat them all, then enter the room behind the hounds.

Go upstairs, then cross the square outside. Defeat the two spectral warriors guarding the square, and watch out for the crossbowman up the wall on the other side. It’s easiest to lure the warriors towards the room and defeat them there, then evade the crossbow bolts as you run across the square.

Beware that a spectral knight will appear at the top of the staircase; if you don’t want to fight him, you can simply dash past him, enter the building, and activate the Site of Grace on your left.
Venture deeper into Castle Sol; go through the church, cross the courtyard, and walk up the stairs.

Four spectral warriors will spawn on the staircase, joined by a spectral knight when you reach the top. If you want to save your strength, you can fight the normal warriors but dash past the knight, straight to the boss arena gateway in front of you.

The Castle Sol boss, Commander Niall, is a burly warrior with a powerful arsenal of melee, lightning, and frost attacks. As if that’s not intimidating enough, he’s got two spectral knight sidekicks. It’s best to take down the spectral knights first, then focus on the Commander. Our detailed Commander Niall boss fight guide can help if you’re struggling.

Following the Castle Sol boss fight, activate the Site of Grace and follow the path leading to the higher tower (only one way to go). At the top of the tower, you will find the left part of the Haligtree Secret medallion.

And with that, the next step is to actually use the Haligtree Secret Medallions.
How to use the Haligtee Secret Medallions
To use the Haligtree Secret Medallions in Elden Ring, first ensure you have both the left and right halves of the medallion. Once you have them, head to the bottom of the Grand Lift of Rold. Instead of the usual action to hoist the regular medallion, you will have the option to switch actions and select “Hoist Secret Medallion.” Activating this will cause the lift to take you to a hidden path leading to Miquella’s Haligtree and the Consecrated Snowfield, unlocking a secret final area in the game. This action only works from the bottom of the lift, not the top.

With the two Haligtree Secret Medallions in your pocket, you can use them to unlock the Consecrated Snowfield. First, you must teleport to the Grand Lift of Rold, a Site of Grace in the southern part of the Mountaintops of the Giants (where you entered the region).

Stand in front of the lift platform, between the two statues, and select the Secret Medallion as shown in the picture below. Instead of taking you back to the Altus Plateau, the Grand Lift of Rold will now take you to the Consecrated Snowfield.
What hidden challenges await in the Village of the Albinaurics for the right medallion
In the Village of the Albinaurics, the right half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion is guarded by a hidden NPC named Albus, who disguises himself as a large pot along one of the village paths. To obtain the medallion, players must locate and strike this pot to reveal Albus, who then entrusts them with the medallion and instructs them to deliver it to another NPC named Latenna. The village itself is a desolate, ruined place with eerie silence, broken ruins, and hostile giant skeletons nearby, creating an unsettling atmosphere that challenges exploration. While the area is not overwhelmingly dangerous if players stay mounted and avoid unnecessary fights, the key challenge lies in discovering Albus’s concealed location amid the ruins, as FromSoftware deliberately obscures this secret to reward thorough exploration and attention to subtle audio clues like Albus’s faint voice.
What dangers do I face when searching for the hidden medallion in Albinauric Village
When searching for the hidden right half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion in the Village of the Albinaurics, players face several subtle but notable dangers. The village itself is a dimly lit, eerie location tucked beneath cliffs, populated by hostile Albinauric enemies, including a magic-wielding Albinauric near a bridge and other minor foes that can challenge underprepared players. The environment is unsettling and can make exploration tense, especially since the key NPC, Albus, is disguised as a large pot, making him easy to overlook and requiring careful observation and interaction to reveal. After obtaining the medallion from Albus, players will trigger an invasion by a dangerous foe named Ensha of the Royal Remains on subsequent visits, adding a significant combat challenge linked to this quest area. Overall, while the area is not heavily guarded by powerful enemies, the main dangers come from the hidden nature of the NPC, the hostile Albinauric enemies, and the triggered invader that tests players’ readiness and attention to detail.
