In Monster Hunter Wilds, crossplay lets you team up with hunters on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but a few quick settings can open your lobby to the world or keep your squad platform-specific. Here’s how to take control of your multiplayer experience-whether you want to unite the hunting grounds or keep things close to home.

To enable or disable crossplay in Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to access the settings from the game’s title screen before starting your session. Navigate to Options, then select the Game Settings tab and scroll down to find the Crossplay option. Here, you can choose to enable or disable crossplay according to your preference. This setting cannot be changed once you have loaded your save data and entered the game, so make sure to set it before starting your adventure. If you want to adjust crossplay permissions for individual multiplayer sessions, you can also do so at the Quest Counter by selecting Platform Permissions, allowing you to play with hunters from all platforms or restrict matchmaking to your own platform. Remember, enabling crossplay lets you team up with friends across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, while disabling it keeps your multiplayer experience limited to your current platform.
To enable or disable crossplay in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to do the following:

Note that this setting is only available from the home menubefore you start playing the game. While you can open your options after you’ve selected your character, this toggle will not appear.

- Enter your tent (at whatever base camp, it doesn’t matter).
- Scroll through the menu options until you get to “Quest Menu.”
- Select “Post/Join Quest.”

- Scroll down to “Platform Permissions” and turn on “All Platforms” if you want crossplay to be on. If you want crossplay turned off, select “Your Platform.”
We were able to access our tent and these settings pretty early in the game, as you’re required to go into your tent during the Chapter 1-2 of the main story.
Does Monster Hunter Wilds have cross-save or cross-buy?
Monster Hunter Wilds does not support cross-save or cross-progression, meaning your game progress, character data, and purchased DLC are locked to the platform where you first start playing. If you decide to play on a different platform, you will have to begin anew, as there is no way to transfer your save data between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Similarly, there is no cross-buy feature-purchasing the game or its DLC on one platform does not grant access on others; each platform requires a separate purchase. While crossplay allows players to hunt together across all supported platforms, your progress and purchases remain tied to the original system you choose.
