Inside Baldurs Gate 3‘s Githyanki Creche in the Mountain Pass, you’ll eventually head to the Captain’s Quarters on your way to the Inquisitor’s Chamber. This is part of both the “Find the Githyanki Creche” and “Discover the Artefact’s Secrets” quests. During a cutscene that plays as you enter, Captain Kith’rak Therezzyn activates a glowing barrier that blocks your path forward. The solution to get past it is straightforward, but also extremely easy to miss.

How to activate the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor
In the Captain’s Quarters of Creche Y’llek, approach the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor next to the misty forcefield blocking the path to the Inquisitor. Obtain the Gith Shard by pickpocketing or defeating Kith’rak Therezzyn in the same room, then interact with the device to open your inventory. Drag the shard into the slot on the disruptor to deactivate the barrier and clear the passage ahead.
If you paid attention during the cutscene (we sure didn’t), you’ll see the captain remove an item – the Githyanki Shard – from the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor to the left of the forcefield. That’s your clue.
After your conversation with the captain doesn’t go too well, you’ll have to get the Githyanki Shard from her – you can either pickpocket it if she’s still alive, or loot it from her corpse.
Where to find Kith’rak Therezzyn in the Creche
Kith’rak Therezzyn is located in the Captain’s Quarters within Creche Y’llek, the Githyanki Creche in the Mountain Pass area of Act 1. She stands at coordinates approximately X:1409 Y:-765, positioned between the party and the barrier leading to the Inquisitor’s Chamber.
Accessing the Area
Enter Creche Y’llek via the Rosymorn Monastery basement (around X:74 Y:80). Head through the main halls, past the Infirmary, toward the eastern side where the Captain’s Quarters awaits-a cutscene triggers upon approach, activating the barrier.
Encounter Details
Therezzyn guards the Githyanki Shard needed for the barrier disruptor. Dialogue options include showing the Mysterious Artefact (potentially peaceful resolution via Deception check) or obtaining the shard via pickpocketing/stealth or combat/looting. She wields the powerful Soulbreaker Greatsword, ideal for Lae’zel upon defeat.
Where to find Kith’rak Therezzyn in the Creche
Kith’rak Therezzyn is located in the Captain’s Quarters of Creche Y’llek, a Githyanki outpost in the Mountain Pass region during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3. She stands at coordinates X:1409 Y:-765, positioned between the party and the glowing barrier to the Inquisitor’s Chamber.
Path to the Captain’s Quarters
Access Creche Y’llek through the Rosymorn Monastery basement at X:74 Y:80. Navigate the main halls past the Infirmary (southwest at X:1299 Y:809), then head east-a cutscene triggers upon entering the Captain’s Quarters, where she activates the barrier.
Encounter Notes
Therezzyn, commander of the creche, holds the Githyanki Shard needed to disable the barrier. Options include dialogue (show the Mysterious Artefact for potential peaceful access via Deception check), pickpocketing the shard, or defeating her to loot it along with her Soulbreaker Greatsword.
