Get ready, Trainers! Pokémon GO Fest 2023 is back with an electrifying Global Special Research event that promises exclusive tasks, rare rewards, and the chance to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Diancie and Mega Rayquaza. Whether you’re a ticket holder diving into the full multi-stage quests or a free-to-play adventurer exploring the Sky High challenges, this guide will help you navigate every step of the thrilling research tasks across both days of the festival.
On Saturday, players were able to claim Diancie Special Research and on Sunday they were able to start Mega Rayquaza Special Research. Players who did not buy the Go Fest ticket do get access to a shorter Special Research set that rewards a Meteorite, but does not give as many rewards as the paid research. You must complete the regular “Sky High” research in order to unlock the paid version. Since these are Special Research Tasks and not Timed Research, they are available permanently once you unlock them, so you can take your time completing them.
In order to do the research below, you have to buy a Pokémon Go Fest 2023 pass for $14.99. If you did not buy it, Diancie will be available to you at a later date, but you’ll have to wait.
You can see all the Special Research steps and rewards below, with help from Serebii.net.

How can I maximize my rewards in the Pokémon Go Fest 2023 Global Special Research
To maximize your rewards in the Pokémon GO Fest 2023 Global Special Research, follow these key strategies:
-
Complete all stages of the “Fascinating Facets” Special Research on Day 1, which involves spinning PokéStops, using Incense, catching Pokémon, completing Field Research, hatching eggs, evolving Pokémon, and powering up Fairy and Rock-type Pokémon. Each stage offers valuable rewards like Incense, Lucky Eggs, Rare Candies, Stardust, XP, and encounters with rare Pokémon like Diancie and Carbink.
-
On Day 2, engage in the “Sky High” and, if you have a ticket, the “Super Sky High” Special Research tasks. These include spinning PokéStops, catching Pokémon, powering up Dragon, Flying, and other types, using supereffective Charged Attacks, and winning raids. Completing these tasks rewards you with items such as Revives, Potions, Rare Candies, Mega Energy for Rayquaza, and a special Meteorite item that enables Rayquaza to learn Dragon Ascent and Mega Evolve.
-
Use power-ups efficiently by powering up Pokémon with the lowest power-up cost bars first to maximize the number of power-ups per Stardust spent, as this is required for several tasks.
-
Make sure to log in during event hours to unlock the Special Research and complete tasks at your own pace since these are not timed, allowing you to plan your gameplay for maximum efficiency.
-
If you have a ticket, take advantage of bonuses such as increased shiny rates, additional raid passes, special 7 km eggs, and more frequent special trades to enhance your overall rewards.
By systematically completing all research tasks, focusing on power-ups wisely, and leveraging ticket-holder bonuses, you can maximize your rewards including rare Pokémon encounters, valuable items, Mega Energy, and large amounts of Stardust and XP throughout Pokémon GO Fest 2023.
Which tasks give the best value for rewards during Fascinating Facets
During the “Fascinating Facets” Special Research in Pokémon GO Fest 2023, the tasks that offer the best value for rewards are:
-
Stage 5 tasks: Earning 7,190 XP, powering up 10 Fairy-type Pokémon, and powering up 10 Rock-type Pokémon each reward 3 Rare Candies, totaling 9 Rare Candies for the stage, plus 2023 XP and 300 Diancie Mega Energy. Rare Candies and Mega Energy are highly valuable resources for powering up and Mega Evolving Pokémon.
-
Stage 4 tasks: Catching 10 Pokémon, earning 7,190 Stardust, and evolving 3 Pokémon reward 2 Star Pieces, a Silver Pinap Berry, 2023 XP, 2023 Stardust, and a Hisuian Growlithe encounter or Diancie encounter (or 25 Diancie Candy if already caught). Star Pieces boost Stardust gain, which is crucial for powering up Pokémon, making this stage rewarding.
-
Stage 3 tasks: Hatching 2 Eggs grants 2 Lucky Eggs, which double XP gain temporarily, and spinning PokéStops and earning buddy candy reward encounters with Shellos variants. Lucky Eggs are valuable for leveling up faster.
-
Stage 2 tasks: Completing 3 Field Research tasks, using 5 berries to catch Pokémon, and catching 10 different species reward an Oranguru encounter, 2023 XP, 2023 Stardust, and 2 Egg Incubators, which help hatch eggs faster, a useful resource.
Overall, Stage 5 provides the best direct item value (Rare Candies and Mega Energy), while Stages 3 and 4 offer important XP and Stardust boosts. Prioritizing these tasks can maximize your resource gains during the Fascinating Facets research.
