Trainers, get ready to embark on a rewarding journey with Pokémon Go’s latest Masterwork Research event, “Glimmers of Gratitude.” This special, ticketed quest challenges you to catch hundreds of Pokémon from multiple regions and complete diverse tasks, culminating in an exclusive encounter with the elusive Shiny Shaymin. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a dedicated collector, this long-term research offers a unique blend of challenge, valuable rewards, and the thrill of adding a rare shiny to your Pokédex.

The $4.99 ticket was only available to purchase until Feb. 25, 2024, at 8 p.m. in your local time. You needed to buy and start it before then to get the quest. If you didn’t do this before the above date, then you can longer gain access.

Note that despite the fact that the in-game shop blurb says, “Timed Research will expire at the end time listed above,” this is not a Timed Research. Once you started it, it was added to your Special Research Task list, and it’ll be around forever until you finish it.

Was the Pokémon Go ’Glimmers of Gratitude’ ticket worth it?

The Pokémon Go ’Glimmers of Gratitude’ ticket, priced at $4.99, offered players access to a Masterwork Research quest culminating in an encounter with Shiny Shaymin. The ticket included various rewards such as candies for Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Shaymin, along with Rare Candies, Ultra Balls, Rocket Radars, Lure Modules, Incense, XP, and Stardust. Although the research was more challenging for global players compared to those who attended the Sinnoh Tour in Los Angeles, it could be completed at the player’s own pace without expiration. For trainers committed to progressing through the lengthy tasks, the ticket was considered worth it for the opportunity to obtain the rare Shiny Shaymin and the generous in-game rewards.

Note: The $4.99 ticket was only available to purchase until Feb. 25, 2024 – if you didn’t purchase it by then, it is no longer available.

As per the in-game description, here’s what you got for $4.99:

  • Shiny Shaymin
  • 10 Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina Candy
  • 30 Shaymin Candy
  • 10,548 XP and 9,840 Stardust
  • 2 Rare Candy XL and 3 Rare Candies (for trainers level 31 )
  • 5 Rare Candies (for trainers level 30 and below)
  • 60 Ultra Balls
  • 3 Rocket Radars
  • 1 Lure Module, 1 Mossy Lure Module, 1 Glacial Lure Module
  • 2 Incense
  • “And more!”

All the above are rewards as part of the Masterwork Research quest steps, which means it will take a long time for you to earn. These quests are meant to be done over a long period, so don’t expect to be able to grind this all out in one day or even one month.

As for the Shiny Shaymin itself, it’s incredibly rare, and worth grabbing if you’re a shiny hunter. While Shaymin could be caught shiny in main games Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, it requires a limited-time event item (Oak’s Letter) to access Shaymin and you’d have to actively shiny hunt it by resetting the encounter. Oak’s Letter is no longer obtainable, so if you don’t have it in any of these games, this Masterwork Research is the only way to get a shiny Shaymin for you (outside of trading).

How can I maximize my chances of catching Shiny Shaymin in this quest

To maximize your chances of catching Shiny Shaymin in the Pokémon Go “Glimmers of Gratitude” Masterwork Research quest, follow these key strategies:

  • Complete the research at your own pace since the quest has no time limit, allowing you to focus on accuracy and thoroughness rather than speed.

  • Progress steadily through the multiple stages, which include catching hundreds of Pokémon from various regions and completing time-gated tasks like catching Pokémon on consecutive days. Patience is essential as some steps require long-term commitment.

  • Improve your catch rate by using the rewards from the research such as Ultra Balls, Incense, and Lures, which increase spawn rates and catch success.

  • Aim for excellent throws and curveballs to increase catch probability, as some research steps may require numerous excellent throws.

  • Keep a consistent daily routine of catching Pokémon to meet the time-gated requirements efficiently.

  • If you participated in the Go Tour: Sinnoh Los Angeles event, your tasks might be easier, giving you a slight advantage.

  • Remember that the shiny encounter is guaranteed once you reach the final step, but the research itself is long and challenging, so persistence is key.

By methodically completing the extensive catch and task requirements and leveraging the research rewards, you can maximize your chances of securing the rare Shiny Shay

What strategies increase my odds of shiny Shaymin in Pokémon Go

To increase your odds of encountering Shiny Shaymin in Pokémon Go, consider these strategies:

  • Participate in special events and research tasks like the “Glimmers of Gratitude” Masterwork Research, which guarantees a shiny Shaymin encounter upon completion, removing randomness at the final step.

  • Increase your overall shiny encounter chances by maximizing the number of encounters through methods such as exploring high spawn areas, using Incense and Lures, and taking advantage of weather-boosted spawns.

  • Engage in Legendary Raids and special timed research events, which often have higher shiny rates (around 1 in 20) compared to wild encounters.

  • Complete the research quest patiently and steadily, as the shiny Shaymin is a reward for completing all steps rather than a random shiny encounter, so persistence in finishing the quest is key.

  • While general shiny odds in Pokémon Go are low (around 1 in 450 to 1 in 512 for wild Pokémon), the guaranteed shiny from Masterwork Research is your best bet for Shiny Shaymin, making the focus on completing the research rather than relying on random shiny luck.

In summary, your best strategy is to focus on completing the special Masterwork Research quest fully, while using general shiny hunting tactics like maximizing encounters and participating in events to boost your overall shiny chances in the game.
