Pokemon Legends Z-A Guide: Obtaining Zeraora and Zeraorite Mega Stone

Guides

Zeraora streaks through the Mega Dimension faster than lightning itself, but with the right strategy and timing, you can corner this electric myth before it vanishes into the storm again.

How to get Zeraora in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension

Complete Hyperspace Mission 12 by catching Rayquaza to finish the DLC storyline, capture Diancie in Special Mission EX1 after getting Diancite via Mystery Gift, and catch Mewtwo in Special Mission EX2 with its Mega Stones from Mystery Gift. Buy Canari Bread for $1,300 from Tarragon at Racine Construction, trade it with the boy on Vert Sector 3’s rooftop for Popping Candy, then give the candy to Ansha at Hotel Z to unlock the Plasma-Glazed Donut recipe. Craft the donut using specific berries to match its flavor profile, accept Side Mission EX3 “Raging Lightning” through the portal, defeat Rogue Mega Zeraora with a strong Ground-type like Mega Excadrill while dodging its fast electric attacks such as Plasma Fists and Dynamic Punch, and catch it guaranteed with any Poké Ball.

To unlock Zeraora, you have to do quite a few things, many of which are completely unlabeled on your map, so it’s easy to miss. Get these prerequisites out of the way first:

  • Complete Hyperspace Mission 12 (catching Rayquaza and clearing the DLC story)
  • Catch Diancie, as part of Special Mission EX1. You’ll need to claim the Diancite via Mystery Gift and then start the quest at the Looker Bureau.
  • Catch Mewtwo, as part of Special Mission EX2. You’ll need to claim the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y from Mystery Gift, and then take the elevator to B3F of Lysandre Café to complete this side mission.

With that done, head inside Racine Construction (where Canari hangs out) in the southeast of the map. Talk to Tarragon inside and buy a Canari Bread from him for $1,300. You can only buy one per day.

Now here’s the part where it hits, “How were you supposed to know this?” territory. With bread in hand, climb up the roof of this building in Vert Sector 3. There should be a little boy hanging out there, so long as you complete the aforementioned prerequisites.

He’ll offer to trade you items. Give him the Canari Bread and you’ll get Popping Candy in return. Go back to Hotel Z and talk to Ansha and she’ll want to taste that sweet candy. Once she does, she’ll get an idea for a new recipe.

After making the Plasma-Glazed Donut (more on that below), you’ll be able to head into a portal to battle a Rogue Mega Zeraora, the same way you did with the previous legendary Pokémon that required donuts. After winning, you’ll get to catch Zeraora and you’ll get its Mega Stone. Zeraora will be a guaranteed catch, so you can freely use whatever Poké Ball you want.

Plasma-Glazed Donut recipe in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension

The Plasma-Glazed Donut is a rare recipe available after completing the Electric Trials in Lumicity. To craft it, players need Spark Sugar, Charged Dough, and Zeraora Sparks, which can be obtained from wild Zeraora encounters during thunderstorms. Once prepared, feeding the donut to your partner Pokémon increases their affinity and boosts Electric-type move power for a limited time, making it particularly useful before facing high-voltage opponents in the Mega Dimension storyline.

In order to make this donut, it’ll need the following flavors:

  • 40 points in sweet
  • 200 points in spicy
  • 400 points in sour
  • 280 points in bitter
  • 40 points in fresh

Yeesh, if you thought the delta donut had a bad flavor profile…

Just like the donuts that came before, you can’t make this donut all willy-nilly. You’ll need to unlock this recipe and tell Ansha you specifically want to make this donut in order to craft it.

As usual, you’ll be able to see when you hit the correct flavor thresholds on the berry selection screen, with small checkmarks indicating when you hit it.

You know the drill by now. There are a lot of berry combinations that work for this, but this is the one we used:

  • 1 Hyper Haban Berry
  • 3 Hyper Babiri Berries
  • 1 Hyper Chilan Berry
  • 3 Hyper Roseli Berries

By this time in the game, you should have a hefty number of berries at your disposal. If you’re struggling to find the berries we use, definitely head into higher-level (four- or five-star) portals. We’ve noticed that berries closer to the bottom of the list only really show up in higher-level portals, so you’ll want to make sure you’re actually exploring and breaking Poké Balls there, rather than solely romping around low-tier portals.

Best team to beat Rogue Mega Zeraora in Mega Dimension DLC

Rogue Mega Zeraora, a Level 200 Electric-type boss in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC, demands a team leveraging its sole Ground weakness while handling speed and arena hazards. Prioritize Mega Evolving Ground-types for maximum damage output, supplemented by bulky supports and healers.

Core Damage Dealer

Mega Excadrill or Mega Golurk leads as the primary attacker, delivering super-effective Earthquake or Drill Run hits. These withstand Zeraora’s multi-hit Dynamic Punch better than frail options and Mega Evolve for boosted stats.

Recommended Team

Pokémon Role Key Moves/Traits
Mega Excadrill Main DPS Earthquake, Iron Head, Swords Dance
Mega Golurk Backup Ground Earthquake, Hammer Arm, Bulk Up
Blissey Healer Soft-Boiled, Seismic Toss, Teleport for swaps
Corviknight Tank/Defog Body Press, Roost, resists Electric
Greninja Speed Control Water Shuriken, U-turn, coverage vs Rocks
Garchomp Ground Utility Dragon Claw, Stealth Rock setup

Strategy Tips

Position your Ground-type centrally to bait attacks, then dodge lightning bursts by sprinting sideways during charge-ups. Recall to heal mid-fight and re-enter with full HP; paralysis from Plasma Fists cripples speed, so prioritize status cleansing. Victory yields Zeraora and Zeraorite regardless of ball used.

Best counter team for Rogue Mega Zeraora in Mega Dimension DLC

Rogue Mega Zeraora, the Level 200 Electric-type boss in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC, falls to teams exploiting its Ground weakness while managing paralysis, speed, and arena lightning hazards. Ground-type Mega Evolvers dominate damage output, backed by healers, tanks, and utility for sustained fights.

Core Damage Dealers

Lead with Mega Excadrill for Earthquake spam and Swords Dance boosts, or Mega Garchomp for mixed coverage against secondary threats like Stealth Rock. These tank Plasma Fists better than pure glass cannons and hit 4x super-effectively.

Optimal Counter Team

Pokémon Role Key Moves/Traits
Mega Excadrill Primary DPS Earthquake, Swords Dance, Iron Head
Mega Garchomp Ground Coverage Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Stealth Rock
Blissey Healer/Support Soft-Boiled, Seismic Toss, Teleport
Corviknight Tank/Defogger Body Press, Roost, U-turn
Greninja Speed Control Water Shuriken, U-turn, priority
Mega Golurk Backup Ground Earthquake, Hammer Arm, Bulk Up

Fight Tactics

Dodge multi-directional lightning by circling during charge-ups; recall low-HP Pokémon to heal and swap freely. Cleanse paralysis immediately, stay central to bait attacks, and burst during safe windows-victory auto-catches Zeraora with Zeraorite.
