Chapter 1 Village walkthrough and tips

Chapter 1 of Resident Evil 4 Remake introduces Leon to the eerie Spanish Village, starting with a tense ambush and culminating in the chaotic Village Square fight against villagers and Dr. Salvador (Chainsaw Man).

Opening Path to Village

Sneak up the right path from the farm gate to knife the first female villager silently, then loop back left through buildings for herbs, ammo boxes, and a cabinet green herb. Avoid early alerts; proceed through the dogleg path, jump fences, and save at the typewriter in the right-side house before entering the square. Grab the attic chest if possible, but prioritize not getting spotted by the patrolling farmer.

Village Square Fight

Kill about 15 villagers to ring the bell manually (or wait 4 minutes for auto-trigger); focus on body shots or kneecaps to conserve ammo, using loops around houses, ladders, and rooftops to evade. When Dr. Salvador appears (chopping the door), barricade the shotgun house window, grab the inside shotgun/grenades/ammo upstairs, then exit via the roof window for a grenade toss on the mob below. Run circles past the cop statue, cow barn (shoot lantern to drop it on foes if needed), and avoid the church tower trap unless low on health.

Farm and Lakeside

Post-bell, exit via the two-story house (shoot blue medallion on corner), head right to the farm paddock for a pearl pendant (shoot clean lantern over land, not water). Clear the barn left, typewriter save, then follow the cliff path through a tunnel to the lake, fighting stragglers with headshots/melees. Stockpile handgun ammo and herbs early, as resources are scarce on Standard/Assisted.

Pro Tips

Use melee after stuns, parry with knife if practiced, and manual save often-auto-saves reset collectibles like the first Hexagon Piece if you die. First run takes 45-60 minutes; prioritize survival over loot.

Chapter 1 Farm area walkthrough and tips

Chapter 1 Farm area occurs right after the Village Square fight in Resident Evil 4 Remake, serving as a brief breather zone before the lake path.

Entering the Farm

Exit the two-story house post-bell ring and head right uphill to the farm paddock gate; villagers here have their backs turned, allowing stealth approaches or quick headshots/melees to clear without alert. The immediate right building holds a typewriter for manual saving-use it before exploring, as auto-saves can reset nearby collectibles if you die.

Loot and Collectibles

Smash barrels and loot the front shack for handgun bullets and resources; shoot the hanging lantern straight down over land (not water) to drop a Pearl Pendant treasure worth 4,000 Pesetas. Check the left barn after dealing with 2-3 Ganados via stuns into knife finishes to save ammo, grabbing extra herbs and ammo boxes inside.

Exit Path

Head left through the barn toward the windmill view, eliminating patrolling enemies with body shots or environmental kills; proceed via the cliff tunnel past stragglers using precise handgun headshots. This section takes 3-5 minutes on first playthroughs-prioritize conservation over perfection.

Survival Tips

Stockpile greens for healing mixes, parry axes with knife timing if confident, and loop foes around fences or the windmill base to avoid swarms. Skipping combat entirely is viable via sprinting right-to-left, but grab the save and pendant first for upgrades.
