From the dim alleys to sealed metal gates, every keypad in Stray hides a secret. This guide lists all safe and door digicodes so you can slip through hidden passages, access rare items, and uncover what lies behind every locked panel.
Chapter 3 – Unlock the door in The Flat
Heft rattle of metal on metal echoes as you pull the door’s handle, then a soft click invites you inside the dim apartment. The air tastes faintly of rain and old wood, while the room beyond reveals a map of scattered clues: a torn receipt, a blinking panel ash, and a shadow that hints at what lies beyond. Move carefully, note the sequence of objects, and you’ll unlock not only the door but the next thread of the story.

In chapter three you’ll meet B12, the little drone friend who will accompany you through the rest of the game and allow you to interact with objects. But in order to escape The Flat chapter with your new friend, you’ll need to punch in a code and unlock a door.
Because this chapter is still part of the tutorial, the code is easy to find. Jump up on the white table next to the whiteboard and use your body to knock everything off the shelf. This should give you a clear shot at the code you’ll need for the upcoming door: 3748.
Chapter 4 – Unlock the safe in The Slums
In Chapter 4, reach the safe inside the bar at the market’s far end in The Slums. Input the code 1283 on the keypad to open it and retrieve the necklace needed to progress. Find the code nearby on a note stuck to the wall behind the counter, next to some drinks.

The safe in chapter four – The Slums – is the first tricky code in the game, but you’ll need to open it if you want to grab the final Sheet Music collectible. You’ll find the safe to the left of the Guardian in The Slums, hidden in a small alley.
If you want to hunt for the code yourself, check out our guide on how to find it.
If you just want to punch in the digicode and get the treasure, use: 1283.
Note: While you can first access this safe in chapter four, you can also unlock it anytime in chapter six and at the very end of chapter seven.
Chapter 6 – Solve the time puzzle to open the door in The Slums
In The Slums, you’ll find a locked door that requires solving a time-based riddle. Look closely at the nearby clocks scattered around the room, as they all point to the same hour. That number is the code you need to input on the keypad beside the door. Once the correct digits are entered, the passage will open, allowing you to continue your exploration past the hidden barrier.

This is the trickiest non-optional digicode in Stray. In chapter six, after you’ve met Seamus and shown him Doc’s Notebook, he’ll mention a secret room that he doesn’t know how to get into. Jump on the table in the corner and start knocking objects off the wall. You’ll find a keypad next to a blank wall (the hidden door), as well as a hint that says “time will tell.”
Look above the couch where Seamus usually sits and you’ll see four different clocks. Look at the hour hands on each clock from left to right and you’ll find the code: 2511.
Punch the digicode into the keypad on the wall, and the wall will slide open.
Chapter 10 – Find and open the Midtown safe
In Midtown, head to the housing complex past the market and climb the balconies to reach the second-floor apartment with the safe. Inside, inspect the painting on the wall to reveal the code 1283. Punch it into the safe to collect the battery inside, then backtrack to power up the door mechanism nearby.

The final safe and digicode in Stray is in the Midtown chapter. Once you walk up the stairs into the city, look to your right. You’ll find a building where one robot is talking to another robot through what looks like a take-out window. Jump into the building and go to the back.
Stray door digicode walkthrough
Here’s a quick, spoiler-light walkthrough of the door digicodes in Stray.
Flat door digicode (first keypad)
-
Chapter: The Flat (early story, B-12’s building).
-
Code: 3748.
-
How to find it yourself:
-
After you get B-12 and learn to use the flashlight, go into the dark storage room near the exit door.
-
Climb the shelves to the left, walk along them to the whiteboard.
-
Knock down the paint bucket covering the lower-right corner of the board; the full code “3748” is written there.
-
Return to the green EXIT door keypad and enter 3748 to leave the apartment.
-
Other important digicodes
These are not doors in The Flat, but they are other keypad codes you’ll hit as you progress:
-
Slums safe (Dufer Bar safe): Code 1283, revealed behind the beach picture above the Dufer Bar sign after following the “DUFER BAR” clue.
-
Doc’s secret room: Code 2511, taken from the four clocks above Seamus’s couch (times 2, 5, 1, 1).
-
Midtown merchant shop safe: Code 8542, read backwards from “2458 :edoC” on a poster in the shop.
Quick chapter-ordered list
-
Chapter 3 – The Flat: Exit door digicode 3748 (story-required).
-
Slums – Dufer Bar safe: 1283 (optional, gives sheet music).
-
Chapter 6 – Seamus / Doc’s secret room: 2511 (story progression).
-
Chapter 10 – Midtown store safe: 8542 (optional, Cat Badge).
If you tell me which chapter or door you’re stuck on right now, I can give a tiny, puzzle-style hint before the exact code so you can still solve it yourself.
Stray Dufer Bar safe code walkthrough
The Dufer Bar safe in The Slums uses the code , and you can either enter it directly or follow the in-game clues below to solve it yourself.
1. Finding the safe and the “Mysterious Password”
-
From the Guardian in The Slums, face the garage with the meditating robots, then go left toward Morusque (the guitar player).
-
Keep going and take another left into a small alley with a safe on the ground and a note attached (“Safe’s Mysterious Password”).
-
Pick up and inspect the note; it shows some binary plus the hint “follows the numbers,” which your companion can’t read yet.
2. Decoding the password (Elliot Programming → Dufer Bar)
-
Head to Elliot Programming (door covered in binary signs), scratch the door, and go upstairs to meet Elliot.
-
Show Elliot the Safe’s Mysterious Password; he decodes it as “DUFER BAR”, telling you where to look next.
3. Getting the actual safe code at Dufer Bar
-
Go to Dufer Bar (neon red bar sign in The Slums; it’s visible from Elliot’s window).
-
Inside, walk to the end of the bar where you see the “DUFER BAR” neon sign on the wall.
-
Jump up onto the bar next to the sign and interact with the picture of a beach hanging above it; your cat will knock it down.
-
Behind the fallen picture, the safe code is written on the wall.
4. Opening the safe and reward
-
Return to the alley safe near Morusque and interact with it.
-
Enter on the keypad to open it and receive a piece of Sheet Music for Morusque (Sheet Music 8/8).
If you tell me what part you’re at (wandering The Slums, already have the password, or already at Dufer Bar), I can give you just the next one or two steps so you can keep most of the puzzle intact.
