Warcraft Rumble Raene Wolfrunner Guide Tips Strategies Ashenvale Campaign

Guides

Facing Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble’s Ashenvale zone is a true test of strategy and skill. This fierce boss relentlessly summons waves of deadly Huntresses, challenging players to balance defense and offense under pressure. Ready to crack the code and claim victory? Here’s the ultimate guide to outsmarting Raene and conquering her relentless assault on mobile.

In this Warcraft Rumble guide, I’m going to show you the exact strategy I used to take down Raene Wolfrunner and then offer some suggestions for alternative units.

[Note: As of Nov. 7, Raene Wolfrunner’s Huntress units aren’t spawning quite as aggressively as before. It’s unclear if this is a bug or if Blizzard changed the fight due to its difficulty. Either way, our strategies below will help you take her out.]

Best build to beat Raene Wolfrunner

The best build to beat Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble involves a balanced mix of tanky and ranged units, supported by spells to control enemy waves. Key units include the Abomination for tanking and controlling the Huntresses, Ghouls, Plague Farmers, and ranged attackers like Gryphon Riders and S.A.F.E. Pilots. Chain Lightning is a useful spell to slow and damage enemy units. The strategy focuses on defending against Raene’s initial Huntress assaults by positioning tanky units to absorb damage while ranged units deal damage safely. After repelling the early waves, push through the left lane to capture the tower and then focus fire on Raene herself. Maintaining pressure and careful unit placement are essential to overcome her recurring Huntress summons and ultimately defeat her.

Before I show you my army, I recommend most if not all of your units be level 7 before taking on Raene. Stats make a huge difference in Rumble, and lower leveled units will get obliterated by the boss’ Huntress units.

I used a predominantly Undead army to take down Raene Wolfrunner:

Leader: Sylvanus Windrunner (6 Gold)

Troops:

  • Abomination (6 Gold)
  • Ghoul (2 Gold)
  • Chain Lightning (2 Gold)
  • Plague Farmer (2 Gold)
  • S.A.F.E. Pilot (3 Gold)
  • Gryphon Rider (2 Gold)

How to beat Raene Wolfrunner

To beat Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble, focus on managing her periodic summons of three Huntresses who attack from different directions. Start by deploying sturdy tank units like Abominations or Quilboars to absorb damage while using ranged units such as Plague Farmers or Griffin Riders to eliminate the Huntresses safely from a distance. Position your ranged units strategically, for example, over the bridge or behind cover, to attack without retaliation. Capture key map points like the Meeting Stone and the western tower to gain an advantage and create forward spawn points. After surviving the Huntress waves and securing the tower, push aggressively with heavy units like Abominations, Drakes, and Flamewakers to damage Raene directly. Use spells like Blizzard to slow incoming Huntresses and protect your base during their attacks. Maintaining a balance of defense and offense, with good unit placement and timing, is essential to overcome Raene Wolfrunner’s challenging fight.

The biggest problem with Raene Wolfrunner is her opening, where she spawns multiple Huntresses from the north and Alliance Footmen from the west. This can result in a huge pinch right out of the gate, where your turret is too busy dealing with one threat to handle the other.

In our experience, a single Abomination can handle all of the Huntresses – at least temporarily. If you can add in a Plague Farmer, you should be able to take them all out before the Abomination dies. However, make sure you put your Plague Farmer far away from your Abomination, as the Huntress’ glaive attack won’t be able to bounce from your beefy tank to your squishy damage unit that way.

With the Huntress units busy, it’s time to focus on the Footmen and the Gryphon Rider coming from the other side. The best thing you can do here is to drop a Ghoul as early as possible. This will slow the enemy troops down long enough for you to gain some Gold. Once they’re focused on a tankier unit, drop some Chain Lightning or a S.A.F.E. Pilot on them all for extra damage. If you’re able to throw another Plague Farmer out, it’ll decimate the ground troops very quickly.

Unless your units are very high level, your turret is going to take damage in this opening section – it’s just too much for your units to handle at once. But once you’ve survived the first onslaught, the rest of the mission is relatively smooth sailing. However, if you don’t manage to damage Raene more than she’s already damaged you, you’ll lose in overtime, so you have to play aggressively.

Focus the vast majority of your troops on the turret to the left and try to break it down as quickly as you can. This will allow you to spawn units closer to Raene and deal even more damage. While you’re doing this, however, you have to keep an eye on the right side of the map, as Raene will continue to spawn Huntress units and send them after you. Send your Abomination to deal with them and slow them down.

As long as you focus on controlling the Huntresses and pushing your units through the channel on the left, you’ll be able to take Raene down in the time allotted.

What other units are good against Raene Wolfrunner?

Units that are effective against Raene Wolfrunner include Abomination, Worgen, and Prowler, which can handle her and the Huntresses she summons effectively. Air-to-ground units like Ghouls, Gargoyles, Meat Trucks, and Dragons are also strong choices since Raene and her troops lack proper air defense. Additionally, Stonehoof Taurens and Plague Farmers are useful for stalling and dealing damage safely from a distance. Using spells like Polymorph or Smokebomb can help control the Huntresses during their attacks. For ranged support, Griffin Riders and SAFE Pilots provide valuable firepower, especially when positioned strategically on the map. Overall, combining sturdy tanks with ranged damage dealers and some crowd control spells forms a good counter to Raene Wolfrunner’s forces.

The problem with Raene, as we mentioned before, is the opening onslaught, and not every army composition can survive it. If you haven’t unlocked some of the units I have in my army, or you just don’t like them very much, you’re going to need some replacements. Below, I’ve listed out several suitable replacements for the Abomination, Plague Farmer, and more.

You’re going to want a really strong tank to replace the Abomination I used in my army, like a Grommash Hellscream or even a Stonehoof Tauren. You can also use some tanks with gimmicks, like the Gnoll Brute for area damage or the Earth Elemental since it’s Unbound (meaning you can drop it outside your turret area, buying yourself more time).

Rather than my Plague Farmer, you may want a different unit who can dish out area damage for the squad of Alliance Footman that come from the other side. A Huntress of your own can do wonders against them, as can a Bat Rider. Just be careful, as the Gryphon Rider can snipe some weaker enemies relatively quickly. Spells like Holy Nova and Execute are also good against the western group if you don’t want to use Chain Lightning or the S.A.F.E. Pilot.

The one thing you really want to avoid in this fight are weak swarms of enemies. Because the Huntress glaive bounces (and Raene is essentially just a big Huntress herself), your backline is going to run into trouble if they aren’t strong enough. Avoid theNecromancer, Raptors, and other swarming units for this one – you’re just going to end up wasting your Gold if you drop them.

What secret strategies can help me outsmart Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble

To outsmart Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble, several secret strategies can greatly improve your chances of victory:

  • Split the Huntress Attacks: In the Heroic fight, Raene’s three Huntresses attack from different lanes. Use squad tank minis like Warsong Grunts or Footmen positioned between lanes to split and absorb multiple Huntress waves efficiently, allowing you to counter them without being overwhelmed.

  • Use Effective Counters: Minis such as Prowlers, Stonehoof Tauren, and Footmen are strong counters to Huntresses. Position ranged minis like Plague Farmer and SAFE Pilot on the bridge or behind cover to safely shoot at incoming Huntresses and the tower without retaliation.

  • Control Key Map Points: Quickly capture the Meeting Stone to gain a frontline advantage and start mining gold. Taking the western tower is also beneficial, as it provides a staging ground to attack Raene and defend against Huntress pushes.

  • Tank and Distract: Deploy sturdy units like Abomination, Earth Elemental, or Quilboar to tank Huntress attacks. Placing these behind enemy lines or in strategic spots can redirect enemy focus, such as luring the wolf to attack your Spearman instead of your base.

  • Timing Your Attacks: Attack Raene between Huntress waves to maximize damage while minimizing risk. Use heavy hitters like Abomination, Drake, or Flamwaker to finish her off once the area is secured.

  • Positioning Ranged Minis: Place ranged units on the bridge or behind pillars where they can shoot at enemies and the tower without being targeted in return. This positioning is crucial to safely chip away at enemy forces and structures.

These combined tactics-splitting enemy attacks, controlling map objectives, smart unit placement, and timing-form a secret formula to outmaneuver Raene Wolfrunner’s relentless assault and secure victory in Warcraft Rumble.

What hidden unit placements can maximize my damage against Raene Wolfrunner

To maximize your damage against Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble, the key is strategic hidden unit placement that leverages map features and counters her forces effectively:

  • Position Ranged DPS Over the Bridge: Place ranged damage dealers like Plague Farmer, SAFE Pilot, and Pyromancer on the bridge. This location allows them to safely shoot at incoming Huntresses and enemy units approaching underneath without taking return fire, maximizing sustained damage output.

  • Use Tanky Minis to Split Enemy Waves: Deploy tank units such as Warsong Grunts, Stonehoof Tauren, or Footmen between the lanes where Huntresses attack, especially in the Heroic mode where Huntresses come from multiple directions. This splits the enemy waves, enabling your damage dealers to focus fire more efficiently.

  • Capture and Utilize the Tower: Taking control of the tower near the bridge provides a strategic vantage point and extra leeway for ranged units to attack Raene and her minions safely, increasing your overall damage potential.

  • Deploy Abominations or Quillboar Behind Enemy Lines: Placing tanky units like Abominations or Quillboar behind the Huntresses can redirect their attacks, allowing your damage dealers to attack unhindered. This tactic also helps in controlling the flow of enemy units and protects your key damage sources.

  • Use Minis with Splash or Area Damage Near Enemy Clusters: Units like Flamewaker or Drake positioned where they can hit grouped Huntresses or foot soldiers amplify damage through area effects, accelerating Raene’s defeat.

By combining these hidden placements-ranged DPS on the bridge, tank minis splitting lanes, controlling the tower, and smart use of splash damage units-you maximize your damage output against Raene Wolfrunner while minimizing your losses.
