Where to Find Salt in Enshrouded – Game Guide and Locations

Guides

If you’re diving into Enshrouded and find yourself in desperate need of salt-a crucial resource for crafting and survival-you’ll want to head straight to the Egerton Salt Mine. Nestled in a valley just northwest of the Springlands Ancient Spire and shrouded in dangerous fog, this mine is teeming with salt crystals embedded in the walls, but be prepared to face the lurking threats within the Shroud. With the right upgrades and strategy, you can harvest this vital mineral and boost your chances of thriving in the mysterious world of Enshrouded.

Where to find the Hunter in Enshrouded

You can find the Hunter in Enshrouded by heading to her Ancient Vault, located northeast of your initial base or directly west from the Springlands Ancient Spire fast travel point. To reach her vault, it’s best to clear the Springlands Ancient Spire first, which then becomes a waypoint for easier access. Once inside the vault, you will face hostile bear-men and need to navigate traps before awakening the Hunter NPC. After freeing her, you can summon the Hunter to your base or any enclosed building, unlocking her crafting functions focused on fur items and ranged weapon upgrades.

Before you can do anything with salt in Enshrouded, you’ll need to find and awaken the Hunter as part of the “Hunter Becomes The Hunted” quest.

You’ll find her in the aptly named Ancient Vault – Hunter a good way northeast of the Cinder Vault and east of the Ancient Spire – Springlands Fast Travel tower

Once you place her at your base with a summoning staff (1 twig), you’ll be able to interact with her and start making new gear and a new new workbench, the drying rack.

How to prepare for the Shroud

To prepare for venturing into the Shroud to gather salt in Enshrouded, make sure you are well-equipped and ready for the limited time you can spend there. Bring a Pickaxe for mining salt crystals from the walls in salt mines like the Egerton Salt Mines or the Saline Quarry. Use the gliding method from the Ancient Spire fast travel point to reach these locations efficiently. Carry Shroud Survival Flasks or unlock skills like Inner Fires to extend your time inside the Shroud and be prepared to fight off Fell enemies and critters. Mark your entry point on the map to ensure a quick escape before your Shroud timer runs out. Also, repair your equipment beforehand and bring potions to maintain your health and stamina during your mining expedition.

With the Hunter placed, you’ll get a new quest called “Salt Mine Location” that, brace yourself, shows you the location of a salt mine. Specifically, the Egerton Salt Mines west-northwest of the Ancient Spire – Springlands Fast Travel tower.

The mine, however, is in the Shroud and it’s a little hard to get in and out of within the Shroud’s time limit, so you should do a little preparation first.

  • The Inner Firesskill increases your Shroud Time by two minutes. You’ll find it on a branch off of the Survivor skill path.
  • Strengthen the Flame of your base’s flame altar to level 2 with 5 resin, 5 red mushrooms, 5 bones, 5 Shroud liquid gathered from ball-like plants in the Shroud, 1 spark from a Flame Shrine (there’s one right next to the Blacksmith’s Ancient Vault), and 5 animal fur. This will increase your Shroud Time by one minute.
  • If you haven’t yet, make a grappling hook (4 metal scraps, 7 string, and 10 Shroud spores) at a workbench. It won’t increase your time in the Shroud, but it’ll make getting out of the salt mine easier.

Where to find salt in Enshrouded

Salt in Enshrouded can primarily be found in two key locations: the Egerton Salt Mine, located in a valley slightly northwest of the Springlands Ancient Spire, and the Saline Quarry southeast of Braelyn Bridge. The Egerton Salt Mine is a challenging area covered in Shroud, requiring players to upgrade their Flame and prepare for combat with hostile creatures. To reach it easily, players can glide from the top of the Springlands Ancient Spire. Inside the mine, salt crystals can be mined from the walls using a pickaxe. The Saline Quarry is closer to the starting base and is considered a safer spot with fewer enemies. Both locations reset salt deposits every two hours and require careful management of the Shroud timer to avoid danger. Using skills like Inner Fires and placing a Flame Altar nearby can help extend survival time and facilitate salt farming.

Head to the Egerton Salt Mines marked on your map. You’ll have to trudge through the Shroud and fight off a lot of bugs and Fell to get there.

When you reach the mines, you’re looking for the large, gray-white, cube-shaped deposits on the rock walls. With just a minute or so of work, you can walk away with 100 salt that will last you long time.

When you’re ready to leave, head south along the valley wall. You’ll find a structure there with two grappling hook points. Keep climbing up until you’re back out of the Shroud and can fast travel away.

What to use salt for in Enshrouded

Salt in Enshrouded is primarily used for crafting and food preservation. Its key function is in the Drying Rack, where it is combined with Animal Fur to produce Dried Fur, an essential material for crafting superior armor sets such as Scout, Marksman, and Ranger armor. Additionally, salt is a major component in crafting Nitrate, which is crucial for explosives and some ammunition. Beyond crafting, salt can also enhance the taste of food. As a versatile resource, salt’s importance may expand with future game updates.

Speak to the Hunter and craft a drying rack (10 wood logs and 6 string). Drop 1 animal fur and 3 salt into it, and you’ll get 1 dried fur. (You can also make dried purple berries at a drying rack – no salt required – that reduce the amount of healing you get, but extend the amount of time healing is active).

Dried fur can be used at the Hunter to make the Scout Set armor with a total of 16 dried fur, 13 bones, 21 string, and 2 resin. More importantly, you can also make the small backpack (3 torn cloth, 4 dried fur, and 5 string) that increases your inventory by 8 slots when you equip it in the Character menu.

Where is the hidden entrance to the Egerton Salt Mine in Enshrouded

The hidden entrance to the Egerton Salt Mine in Enshrouded is accessed by first fast traveling to the Springlands Ancient Spire. From the top floor of the spire, head to the northern balcony and look west; from there, jump off and use your glider to reach the mine’s location in the valley slightly northwest of the spire. The mine is covered in Shroud, so you may need to upgrade your Flame before entering. Once near the mine, look for a scaffold leading to and from the salt mine, which serves as a safe zone to recover your Shroud meter and avoid monsters lurking in the fog. Enter any of the tunnels from this scaffold to find salt crystals embedded in the walls.

Is the entrance to the Egerton Salt Mine hidden on a specific wall or feature

The entrance to the Egerton Salt Mine in Enshrouded is hidden behind a climable wall on the southwest side of the mine, featuring grapple points that allow access. This concealed wall is a key feature players use to enter the mine safely and avoid some of the Shroud dangers outside. Once inside, you’ll find tunnels rich with salt crystals embedded in the walls. The mine is located in a valley slightly northwest of the Springlands Ancient Spire, and reaching it typically involves gliding from the spire’s northern balcony.
