Fortnite Tomato Quest: Travel Distance Under Tomato Effect Guide

Guides

Few Fortnite power-ups are as strange-and as fun-as the tomato effect. Here’s how to turn this unexpected burst of produce-fueled energy into a fast, chaotic way to cover distance before your enemies catch on.

As part of a weekly quest in the FortniteSimpsons Mini Season, you’ll need to travel distance under the effect of tomatoes.

Previously, tomatoes would just heal you like any other food item, but as of the v38.11 update, the tomatoes have gotten a little funky. All of Springfield island is overflowing with Zero Point energy because of, you guessed it, Homer Simpson, and that includes the tomato field at Cletus’ Corn Hole. Rather than just healing you, the tomatoes will also give you lower gravity.

Best routes to cover 500 meters quickly in Fortnite Springfield

The best routes for covering 500 meters under the tomato effect in Fortnite’s Springfield area leverage the low-gravity jumps and nearby Zero Point energy rivers for rapid floating dashes.

Cletus’ Corn Hole Start

Begin at Cletus’ Corn Hole in northwest Springfield, grab purple tomatoes from wooden buckets, and throw one at your feet to activate low gravity. Spam jumps while running south toward the nearby Zero Point river-its energy currents boost midair blinks, covering 200-300 meters quickly.

River Dash Extension

Enter the glowing Zero Point river (often flowing east-west near Cletus’), re-splash tomatoes mid-float to maintain the effect, and dash repeatedly downstream or against the current for controlled bursts. This segment alone nets 150-250 meters in under a minute, avoiding fall damage entirely.

Alternative Loop Route

For variety or traffic, loop east from Cletus’ around Springfield’s outskirts: float-jump across fields to Town Square edges, using low-grav for high arcs over buildings. Combine with sprinting for a safer 500 meters if rivers are contested.

Optimal sprint paths in Springfield to hit 500 meters fast

Optimal sprint paths in Fortnite’s Springfield area for the 500-meter tomato challenge focus on straight-line low-gravity floats combined with sprinting along energy rivers and open fields from Cletus’ Corn Hole.

Primary River Sprint

Sprint south from Cletus’ Corn Hole (northwest Springfield) after splashing a tomato for low gravity, hitting the Zero Point river immediately. Dash with the current eastward for 250+ meters, re-splashing mid-run to spam high jumps and cover the rest in 30-45 seconds total.

Outskirts Loop

Head east from Cletus’ along field edges, sprinting and jumping over low obstacles toward Town Square perimeter. This avoids buildings, maintains tomato effect visibility, and racks up distance safely at 150-200 meters per loop segment.

Speed Tips

Prioritize flat terrain or downhill slopes; hold sprint (Shift) while jumping every 2 seconds under the effect for maximum airtime. Track progress via the quest UI-rivers yield fastest times under 1 minute.
