Hytale Voidhearts Guide: Obtain Voidheart Items and Farm Void Creatures

Guides

Hidden within Hytale’s darkest regions, Voidhearts aren’t handed out-they’re earned through rare drops, risky fights, and a bit of luck. Knowing which creatures guard them and how drop mechanics work can make the difference between endless grinding and a winning haul.

Where to find voidhearts in Hytale

Voidhearts drop from void creatures like Void Eyes, Spawns, and Spectres that appear at night across multiple zones. Head to open areas such as Howling Sands deserts or Whisperfrost Frontiers snowfields for better visibility and frequent spawns. Borea in Zone 3 or Zone 3’s icy biomes also yield high numbers, while Everglade Wilds swamps offer additional options; equip iron armor or better before facing them.

As its name implies, voidhearts drop from void creatures in Hytale. However, voidhearts are extremely rare, so there’s a high chance of you killing a void creature and only finding essence of the void instead.

Void creatures appear only during the night and they are usually spread across the zones. You can stumble on them even in the first zone of the game, making it possible to hunt these enemies early on in your journey. However, void enemies can deal a lot of damage, so we recommend gearing up with at least iron armor and weapons before you hunt them down.

The best way to spot them is by searching for their glowing eyes, which are easy to see during the night. Here’s a list of all the Void enemies in the game from the weakest to the strongest:

  • Void Larva
  • Void Crawler
  • Void Spectre
  • Void Spawn
  • Void Eye

Based on some tests we performed in Creative Mode, all of these enemies drop voidhearts, but the strongest ones (Void Spawn and Void Eye) are more likely to do so. It doesn’t mean you should ignore even a Void Larva – we obtained our first voidheart from one of these little fellows. On the other hand, we couldn’t find any evidence indicating that Void creatures have a higher drop rate depending on the zone they are found.

What is the drop rate for Voidhearts from Void Eyes

There is no officially confirmed, exact percentage drop rate for Voidhearts from Void Eyes, but player testing and guide estimates put it roughly around 10-15% per kill, with Void Eyes being on the higher end of that range compared to other Void mobs.

Most reliable sources agree on these key points:

  • Voidhearts are a rare drop; you should expect to kill roughly 10-15 Void enemies overall per Voidheart on average.

  • Among Void mobs, Void Eyes and Void Spawns are widely reported as having the highest practical drop rate, with Void Eyes often cited as the most efficient farm target in flat, open zones at night.

Because this is RNG-based and not surfaced in-game as a hard number, treat any “exact” % as an estimate from community testing rather than a guaranteed value.

Best locations to farm Void Eyes at night

The best places to farm Void Eyes at night are the flat, open icy biomes in Zone 3 (often referred to as Borea or ice caps), with a few other late-game options also being strong.

Top farming locations

  • Zone 3 icy plains/ice caps

    • Wide, flat snow fields and ice shelves with excellent visibility; the purple glow of Void Eyes stands out sharply against the white terrain, making them very easy to spot and chain-kill.

    • This is generally considered the most consistent place to loop around at night and see frequent Void Eye spawns.

  • Everglade Wilds-style swamps

    • Swampy regions can spawn plenty of Void enemies at night, including Eyes, but the terrain and clutter make sightlines worse than the ice caps, so efficiency is a bit lower.

  • Desert dunes and volcanic islands (Zones 5-6)

    • These higher-danger zones can produce lots of Void spawns at night, giving more total kills but with more hazards and tougher enemies; good once you are well-geared and want higher-intensity farming.

How to farm them efficiently

  • Go to a flat icy area in Zone 3 shortly before dusk and stay active from dusk to dawn, never sleeping so you don’t skip spawn time.

  • Keep moving in large circles, scanning the horizon for large floating eyes and prioritizing any visible Void Eyes over ground mobs.

  • Use at least iron-tier gear plus a bow or crossbow, bring healing food, and consider setting a small camp/bed nearby so deaths don’t waste the night.

If you tell me what zone you’re currently in and your gear level, I can suggest a specific loop route you can follow each night.
