Finding the Archaic Tunic in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Location Guide

Guides

Hidden in the early hours of your adventure, the Archaic Tunic offers more than simple protection-it’s a quiet nod to Link’s past. Here’s where you’ll find this nostalgic piece waiting for you in Tears of the Kingdom.

Our Tears of the Kingdom Archaic Tunic guide will help you finally convince Link to put on a shirt.

Archaic Tunic location

The Archaic Tunic sits inside a chest on Great Sky Island, the starting area. Head to the Pondside Cave at coordinates 0251, -0819, 1572, east of the starting spawn point near the Ukuru Forest. Enter the cave, defeat the Construct enemies inside, and break the breakable rocks at the back with Bomb Flowers or a weapon fused with one. The chest waits behind them, holding the tunic that offers solid early-game armor against threats.

A bit southeast of In-Isa Shrine on the Great Sky Island, you’ll find the entrance to Pondside Cave at (0170, -1634, 1379). As (likely) your first cave, you’ll find a lot to do inside like collecting brightbloom seeds to light up caves, mining some ore, and killing your first Bubbulfrog.

Follow the cave to the northeast. At the far end of the cave, you’ll see the exit on your right. Instead, take a left to find a chest at (0239, -1558, 1364) containing the Archaic Tunic.

If you happen to approach from the direction of Nachoyah Shrine, you’ll find the other entrance to Pondside Cave northwest of the shrine at (0261, -1558, 1364) and the chest will be on your right as you enter.

Is there an Archaic Warm Tunic in Tears of the Kingdom?

The Archaic Warm Tunic does not exist in Tears of the Kingdom as a separate item. Instead, players can find the standard Archaic Tunic early in the game, which offers basic protection but no cold resistance. To handle cold regions, players need to cook and eat spicy meals or find other clothing with warmth bonuses, such as the Warm Greaves or the Snowquill Set later on.

To the best of our knowledge, there is no Archaic Warm Tunic on the Great Sky Island or anywhere else in Hyrule. If you’re looking for armor to grant cold resistance, though, there is one other piece on the Great Sky Island: the Archaic Warm Greaves that we mentioned in our beginner’s guide. You’ll find them by opening a chest inside a massive tree by the Bottomless Cave.

Where to find Archaic Legwear on Great Sky Island

The Archaic Legwear is found early on the Great Sky Island in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, right after the Room of Awakening. [ from previous search]

Location Details

It’s in a green chest near the exit door of the tutorial cave area. After your third dive into a pool (the largest one), swim to the left ledge post-landing, climb out, and open the chest amid the rubble before exiting outside. Coordinates are approximately at the Room of Awakening’s end.

Step-by-Step Guide

  • Exit the Room of Awakening and dive through the first two pools as guided.

  • On the third, steeper dive, land in water, then head left to the ledge.

  • Grab the chest for the legwear (1 defense), equipping it when prompted for cold areas ahead.

Where to find Archaic Warm Greaves on Great Sky Island

The Archaic Warm Greaves are located near the Gutanbac Shrine on the Great Sky Island in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Location Details

Found after completing the shrine (where you gain the Ascend ability), look for a large hollow tree stump right outside on the snowy eastern mountain peak. Use Ascend on the overhanging wooden ledge to reach the top, then enter the trunk for a green Zonaite chest inside a recess. It provides 2 defense plus cold resistance for frigid areas.

Step-by-Step Guide

  • Finish Gutanbac Shrine and exit to spot the massive tree stump nearby.

  • Climb the ledge below it and use Ascend to go through the wooden overhang up top.

  • Enter the hollow tree, head to the corner recess, and open the chest for the greaves-no enemies guard it.
