Guides

Deep within Destiny 2’s Lost City, a mysterious key waits-one that unlocks the true power of your Prismatic subclass. But to claim the Overgrown Prismatic Key, Guardians must hunt down spectral ghosts, survive relentless enemy waves, and face a formidable boss. Ready to unlock the Facet of Mending and push your abilities to the limit? The quest for the Overgrown Prismatic Key is as challenging as it is rewarding-here’s how to begin your hunt.

How to get the Overgrown Prismatic Key

To get the Overgrown Prismatic Key in Destiny 2, start by traveling to the Lost City in the Pale Heart and searching for four lost ghosts hidden throughout the area. These ghosts are scattered across various locations, often requiring careful exploration and platforming to find them all. Once you have collected all four ghosts, proceed to the marked location near a chest and a plate. Stand on the plate to trigger several waves of enemies, culminating in a boss fight. Defeat the boss, and the Overgrown Prismatic Key will drop, allowing you to open the nearby chest and claim your reward, including the Facet of Mending prismatic fragment.

To get the Overgrown Prismatic Key, you must first collect four damaged ghosts. They are found on the way to the Overgrown Prismatic Key chest and can be collected in order. We’ve detailed the ghost locations below.

Ghost one location

To find the first damaged ghost needed for the Overgrown Prismatic Key in Destiny 2, start by loading into the Lost City. Make your way toward the old Vanguard room and look for a hole on the right side-jump down through it to head outside. Cross the large open area until you reach the next Lost City loading zone, then follow the elevated path. In the room with a large tree at its center, jump onto the wooden archway; the first ghost is hanging from a signpost right next to this archway. Interact with the ghost to collect it before proceeding to the next location.

Load into the Lost City location and turn around. Head through the old Vanguard room and jump down the hole on the right. Make your way outside and cross the large open area.

Once you reach the next Lost City loading zone, continue forward following the path above. Once you reach the room with the large tree in the middle, jump up on the wooden archway.

The first ghost is on a signpost hanging next to that archway.

Ghost two location

Ghost Two location

After collecting the first ghost in the room with the large tree and wooden archway, finding the second ghost is straightforward. From the same tree room, look for the doorway above and approach the railing. Jump down to the lower level, and you’ll spot the ghost tucked beneath the stairs, often partially hidden behind some boxes. Be cautious of nearby Hive enemies and a Shrieker that may spawn near the railings as you approach. Interact with the ghost to collect it before moving on to the next location.

Head back into the room with the tree in the middle and locate the doorway above.

Walk forward until you reach the railing.

Once you reach the railing, jump down, and the ghost will be located under the stairs.

Ghost three location

For the third ghost location in the Overgrown Prismatic Key quest, head to the area with the railing near the previous ghost. Use the platforms extending from the ledge of the railing to leap across into the adjoining room. Continue forward until you find yourself back outside-look above the doorway here, and you’ll spot the third ghost perched above it. Interact with this ghost to collect it before moving on to the final location.

Use the platforms off the ledge of the railing to jump across into the room shown corridor.

Continue forward until you’re back outside.

Turn around, and the ghost will be on above the doorway.

Ghost four location

To find the fourth ghost needed for the Overgrown Prismatic Key in Destiny 2, continue along the exterior path from the previous ghost locations until you reach a large yellow radar-like object. The fourth ghost is situated on the center-left piece of this structure. Once you collect this final ghost, you’ll be ready to proceed to the chest encounter for the Overgrown Prismatic Key.

Continue to follow the outside path until you reach the large yellow radar type thing.

The ghost is located on the center-left piece, as shown above.

Where to find the Overgrown Prismatic Key

To find the Overgrown Prismatic Key in Destiny 2, head to the Lost City area in the Pale Heart. There, you’ll need to search for and collect four damaged ghosts scattered along the path to the key’s location-each ghost is hidden in specific spots around the old Vanguard room and nearby outdoor areas. Once all four ghosts are found, follow the markers to a chest and a plate, where you’ll face waves of enemies and a boss; defeating the boss will grant you the Overgrown Prismatic Key, allowing you to unlock the chest and claim the Facet of Mending fragment.

Once you have all four ghosts, continue down the path until you see four ghost markers on your map. They will be next to a chest and a plate. Stand on the plate and kill the four waves of enemies that spawn. Once you kill the boss, the Overgrown Prismatic Key will drop. Use that key to unlock the chest and acquire the Facet of Mending.

What are the exact steps to activate the ghost markers in Lost City

To activate the ghost markers in the Lost City area of Destiny 2 and progress toward obtaining the Overgrown Prismatic Key, follow these exact steps:

  1. Locate and Interact with Injured Ghosts
As you explore the Lost City, your HUD will mark the location of injured ghosts with an orange glow. Approach and interact with these ghosts to “heal” them. After interacting with each ghost, you will receive a notification such as “A lost ghost has been found”.

  2. Complete Nearby Overthrow Events
After healing a ghost, you will be directed to open Overthrow chests in the closest region. Overthrow events are similar to public events and involve defeating waves of enemies. Completing these events near the ghosts is necessary to progress.

  3. Find All Four Ghosts
Repeat the process of locating and healing four different ghosts scattered around the Lost City. After the fourth or fifth ghost, a new message will appear, indicating a ghost cry or call, signaling the next phase of the quest.

  4. Head to the Capture Plate Near the Chest
After healing all ghosts, proceed to the beach area near the big ghost and the prismatic chest. Here, you will find more ghosts alongside a capture plate. Standing on this plate will activate the ghost markers on your map and trigger waves of enemies to defeat.

  5. Defeat the Boss to Obtain the Key
After surviving the enemy waves on the capture plate, a boss enemy (Subjugator) will spawn. Defeat this boss to receive the Overgrown Prismatic Key, which unlocks the prismatic chest and grants the Facet of Mending for your Prismatic subclass.

These steps will activate the ghost markers and lead you through the essential tasks to earn the Overgrown Prismatic Key in the Lost City.
