Elden Ring Irina quest steps

To complete Irina’s questline in Elden Ring, first find Irina sitting near the Bridge of Sacrifice in the Weeping Peninsula and accept her request to deliver a letter to her father, Edgar, at Castle Morne. Travel to Castle Morne, navigate through hostile enemies, and find Edgar in the northeastern tower to deliver the letter. Edgar will explain he cannot leave his post until the boss, Leonine Misbegotten, guarding the castle’s treasured sword is defeated. Defeat the Leonine Misbegotten on the island south of the castle, then return to Edgar with the sword. Finally, go back to Irina’s location near the Bridge of Sacrifice, where you will find her dead and Edgar mourning, marking the tragic end of her questline.

Here’s an overview of what to do in Irina’s quest. In summary, it mostly takes place across one region of the game (the Weeping Peninsula), and a significant chunk within the Castle Morne fortress in particular:

  1. Meet Irina just past the Bridge of Sacrifice in Weeping Peninsula
  2. Accept the letter
  3. Deliver the letter to Edgar in Castle Morne
  4. Defeat Leonine Misbegotten
  5. Return to Edgar
  6. Return to Irina
  7. Find the Revenger’s Shack

Find Irina in The Weeping Peninsula

Irina can be found in the Weeping Peninsula, just beyond the Bridge of Sacrifice at the southern tip of Limgrave. After crossing the bridge, activate the nearby Site of Grace and continue south along the path until you see her sitting near a low wall to the left. She will explain her escape from a rebellion at Castle Morne and ask you to deliver a letter to her father, Edgar, who commands the castle’s forces. This encounter initiates her questline, setting you on a path through the Weeping Peninsula and Castle Morne to resolve her story.

Irina can be found in a region called the Weeping Peninsula, located south of Limgrave. You’ll need to cross theBridge of Sacrifice in order to reach her, but be mindful that there’s a ballista stationed on this bridge – you’ll likely have to dodge some arrows to access the other side.

Once you’ve crossed the bridge, you’ll be able to spot Irina sitting on the left-hand side of the road, next to a small stone wall. Talking with Irina reveals that the servants of Castle Morne have rebelled, and have killed all her companions. Although Irina managed to escape, her father has chosen to remain behind – claiming it’s his duty to do so as commander.

If you continue talking to Irina, she will express concern for her father’s safety and ask you to deliver him a letter. Accept this, and prepare yourself for an eventful journey through the Weeping Peninsula.

Deliver the letter to Irina’s father, Edgar

To deliver the letter to Irina’s father, Edgar, start by heading to Castle Morne located on the southern tip of the Weeping Peninsula. After entering the castle, navigate through the courtyard, bypass the Mad Pumpkin Head enemy, and climb the ladder to the ramparts. From there, cross the wooden bridge guarded by terrestrial and flying Misbegotten, then proceed northeast past soldiers locked in combat. It’s advisable to clear these enemies to prevent them from following you to Edgar. Continue up the stairs and around the corner to find Edgar. Present him with Irina’s letter, and he will express gratitude but explain that he cannot leave his post until the Leonine Misbegotten boss guarding the castle is defeated. This step is crucial to advancing Irina’s questline.

Follow the road south and you’ll spot a large castle in the distance. This is Castle Morne, and you’ll need to venture inside to deliver Irina’s letter. Be careful when approaching the castle, as there’s a stone golem waiting outside that will shoot giant arrows at you.

Once you’ve entered the castle, you’ll need to make your way onto the ramparts to find Irina’s father. Walk through the central courtyard, sneak past the Mad Pumpkin Head enemy, then venture down the alleyway behind to find a small ladder. At the top you’ll find lots of angry Misbegotten servants, but once you’ve dealt with these, you can continue across the walkway and towards the castle’s Eastern tower.

On the top of this tower you’ll find Irina’s father,Edgar, who will give you a sacrificial twig to apologise for the sorry state of his fortress. Deliver the letter to him, and he’ll explain that he cannot leave the castle, as he is sworn to protect the Sword of Morne. Hint hint, nudge nudge – it’s up to you to find that sword.

Defeat Leonine Misbegotten

To defeat the Leonine Misbegotten in Elden Ring, head to the boss arena located at the very bottom of Castle Morne on the Weeping Peninsula. This aggressive lion-like foe demands constant movement and dodging, as its devastating slashes are difficult to block. Using Spirit Summons, such as the Lone Wolf Ashes, can help distract the boss and create openings for attacks. Melee fighters should aim to stagger the Leonine Misbegotten by hitting it from behind, while magic users should keep distance and cast spells during its aerial leaps. Applying Fire Grease to your weapon can increase damage output. Defeating this boss rewards you with the Grafted Blade Greatsword, which is essential to progress Irina’s questline by returning to her father, Edgar.

To retrieve the Sword of Morne, you’ll need to beat a lion-like creature called Leonine Misbegotten. You can find this creature at the back of Castle Morne, on the beaches at the southernmost point of the Weeping Peninsula. Make sure to activate the Beside the Rampart Gaol site of grace so you have a nearby spawn point – this can be found tucked around the corner of the gaol building at the bottom of the cliff.

With an aggressive fighting style and hard-hitting sword, Leonine Misbegotten can be a tricky enemy to deal with. Head over to our Leonine Misbegotten guide for advice on how to beat this boss.

Once you’ve successfully defeated Leonine Misbegotten it will drop the Grafted Blade Greatsword as a reward. This is the legendary Sword of Morne (and yes, it does look like something out of A Game of Thrones). Retrieving it will progress Irina’s storyline.

Return to Edgar

After defeating the Leonine Misbegotten boss at the bottom of Castle Morne, return to Edgar to inform him of your victory. This allows Edgar to finally leave his post at the castle and move on. Next, head back to where you first met Irina, only to find Edgar mourning over her corpse, expressing deep guilt for prioritizing duty over protecting his daughter and vowing revenge on her killer. This marks the conclusion of Irina’s questline and sets the stage for Edgar’s transformation into Edgar the Revenger, who you will later confront in Liurnia.

Head back to Castle Morne’s eastern tower to find Edgar, who will still be sitting in the same spot. Once you talk to him, he will thank you for retrieving the sword from the hands of the Misbegotten, and explain that he is no longer bound by duty. He will then announce that he intends to live out the rest of his days with Irina.

Return to Irina

After defeating the Leonine Misbegotten and returning to Edgar, you must travel back to where you first met Irina near the Bridge of Sacrifice. Tragically, you will find Irina’s lifeless body, slain by the vengeful servants who took over Castle Morne. Edgar is there, kneeling beside her, consumed by grief and swearing revenge on those responsible for his daughter’s death. This marks the poignant end of Irina’s questline, though her story continues through Edgar’s subsequent path in the game.

For the final part of this storyline, you will need to return to Irina near the Bridge of Sacrifice. Sadly, Edgar took too long to return to Irina, and her body can be found on the ground alongside a Misbegotten sword – indicating she was killed by one of the servants. Edgar laments that he chose duty over his daughter, and swears revenge upon the “wretches” who killed her.

This concludes the main part of Irina’s questline, but if you venture into Liurnia, you’ll find an epilogue for this unhappy tale.

Find the Revenger’s Shack

To find the Revenger’s Shack in Elden Ring, head to the far western side of the Liurnia of the Lakes region. This rundown building is surrounded by trees and woodland, serving as the location for a key encounter tied to Irina’s questline. Upon entering the shack, you will be invaded by Edgar the Revenger, a phantom driven by vengeance over Irina’s death. Defeating him here rewards you with the Banished Knight’s Halberd and quest items that initiate the Hyetta questline, continuing the story beyond Irina’s tragic fate.

Once you’ve gained access to Liurnia, head to the western side (just north of the minor Erdtree) to find a location called the Revenger’s Shack. It’s a run-down building surrounded by trees and woodland.

At the Revenger’s Shack you’ll be invaded by a phantom called Edgar the Revenger, who will attack you with a halberd. Watch out for his spinning strikes attack, as this has a decent amount of range.

Killing Edgar will reward you with the Banished Knight’s Halberd (levelled to 8), five Raw Meat Dumplings, a Furlcalling Finger Remedy and a Shabriri Grape (which leads into the Hyetta questline). Make sure to check the shack behind him to collect further Raw Meat Dumplings.

Judging by the Shabriri Grape, the bodies surrounding the shack and a spirit who says the “poor fellow” has gone “perfectly mad”, it seems Edgar was driven into a frenzy by the loss of Irina. It’s a sad ending to an already-tragic tale – but given that FromSoftware NPC questlines often end this way, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised.

What hidden choices affect Irina’s fate in her questline

The key hidden choice that affects Irina’s fate in her questline is whether you choose to complete the quest by delivering her letter to her father Edgar and defeating the Leonine Misbegotten boss. If you follow the quest steps normally, after delivering the letter and defeating the boss, you return to find Irina dead, which leads to Edgar swearing revenge and the end of her questline.

However, Irina’s death can be prevented only by refusing to complete her quest-meaning if you do not deliver the letter or advance the quest in the usual way, she survives. Additionally, killing Edgar or Irina at certain points causes hostile outcomes and alters the quest progression, often resulting in Irina’s death and Edgar becoming an invader.

There is also a subtle but unexplained connection between Irina and another NPC, Hyetta, which some players interpret as a form of possession or spiritual link that may influence how the questlines unfold, though this remains speculative and does not change Irina’s immediate fate in the quest.

In summary, the hidden choices that affect Irina’s fate are:

  • Whether you deliver her letter and complete the quest normally (leads to her death).

  • Whether you refuse to complete the quest (can prevent her death).

  • Whether you kill Edgar or Irina during the quest (causes hostile outcomes and quest failure).
These choices determine if Irina lives or dies and how Edgar’s storyline proceeds.

What are the consequences of refusing to deliver Irina’s letter

Refusing to deliver Irina’s letter in Elden Ring has the consequence that Irina remains alive, as her death is tied to advancing the quest by delivering the letter to her father Edgar and completing related steps at Castle Morne. If you do not take the letter or deliver it, Edgar’s dialogue and story remain unchanged, and Irina does not die shortly after, unlike when the letter is delivered. However, this refusal does not significantly impact Edgar’s or Varre’s dialogue or questlines, nor does it prevent Edgar from eventually becoming hostile if other quest conditions are met. Essentially, not delivering the letter allows Irina to survive longer, but the overall questline involving Edgar and the Leonine Misbegotten boss remains largely unaffected in terms of story progression.
